The Arrival
The Arrival
School hadn't been in session long when Vythica found herself tossed into the war. Balancing school with her nightlife had become an interesting venture to say the least. The first few nights since she had been awoken had been a tight rope walk honestly. Making sure nothing kept her out too late so that she wouldn't be utterly exhausted in the morning. It took a minimal amount of adjusting and soon enough she had gotten a pretty decent schedule going.
While she was adjusting, she had kept to herself for a couple of days. Which got her some pretty odd looks from a lot of her school friends and classmates. Vythica was one of the biggest social butterflies so her not being out and about raised some eyebrows. One of her friends had actually brought her some chicken noodle soup, thinking she was sick. But with a little bit of reassurance she had finally gotten her friend to stop worrying so much. Weaving a tale of how she was putting a bit more effort into her studies at the moment, staying up late studying was making her tired.
But no matter how tired she was, she showed up on time for every class during the day. And once classes were over, she'd begun once more the routine of studying, time with friends and then once the sun had set her second life began.
Vyth would tell you that it was fairly easy at first, with only a few minor trip ups. But she knew she still had a lot to learn. It wasn't easy being green. And there were others out there. Those aligned with Order that would stop at nothing to stop her. Luckily enough she had yet to run into any in powered form. And even luckier she hadn't run into any that had those big white wings.
The wings were pretty though she had to admit. And Vyth wouldn't mind a set of her own. So that gave her even more drive to work hard at what she was tasked with doing. Taking down humans and collecting their energy. The chase was the biggest part for her, nothing got her blood pumping when someone ran. Those were the most exciting energy runs.
She had yet to actually kill anyone, though she'd probably come close the first couple of times. But as she did it more and more often, she began to cut closer and closer to the quick. Seeing how long she could go right before someone faded away. Stopping only a moments breath from complete and total energy drain.
It was almost a morbid curiosity really. Watching as your victim gasped for breath. Calling back your Mirror Wraith just before they slipped into eternal darkness. She hadn't quite expected to enjoy watching as much as she did.
Either way, when she did finally take that final leap. When she did finally let someone slip into the abyss. Vyth would be prepared. Perhaps more so than others at her stage would be. It was a tantalizing and seductive idea.
To hold the power over whether or not someone lived or died.
Once she had finished for the night she headed for home. Powering down only when she could feel no other serious energy signatures near her. Of course, that usually meant she would slip into an alley way near the dorms. Vyth didn't feel like getting jumped and having her energy drained by a fellow DMCer or Negaverser. She was still fairly new and unknown. So the situation may have become a reality. One she did not look forward too.
Slipping back into the dorms so late had proven to not be that much of a challenge. She had payed some of the security guards to keep their mouths shut. When you were pretty right and your dad was a big scary Russian business man that was known well for some of his specific business practices people generally kept their mouth shut. Money or not. But she figured it was best that they got something out of the whole deal besides threats of cement shoes. So it all worked out for everyone. Win win right there.
Reaching her dorm room, she slipped inside. Lucky enough for her she had never gotten a room mate. So there really was no reason to be quiet. Showering and slipping into her pajamas had become a consistent ritual after these night patrols. As well as some sort of snacking and late night movie. Though if she was tired enough she'd skip the movie all together, wolf down her snack and crawl into bed right away. Especially if she had a test bright and early the next morning. Though if she didn't she'd stay up a bit later than probably she should have.
It was hard some days to keep her double life a secret from her friends. She shared everything with them. Well, not everything everything, but almost everything. Gossiping was a way of life in her circle of friends. But she figured Leto would have her hide if she even spoke a whisper of what was going on. And...for all intensive purposes, one could never be sure if one of her friends was an Order Senshi.
That thought had crossed her mind a few times since her awakening. Of course, she would never be able to tell. Nor could they tell she was a Dark Mirror Senshi. But the thought of having to fight one of her friends. To have to kill them possibly sometime in the future? That made her sad deep down inside. But, if that did happen she knew there was no turning back. If she killed an Order Senshi or Knight and one of her friends suddenly disappeared with no real explanation then she might have an inkling of what happened to her civilian friend.
But there was no time to lament over that thought. She had a job to do. A driving force to collect as much energy, destroy the Order senshi here on Earth so she could go home. But where was home? Toutatis. The name of an Asteroid. A fitting celestial body for her sphere for sure. The thought of an asteroid striking Earth often filled people with absolute horror. Asteroids, especially large ones were things to be afraid of. But could there really be a home on this place. For her? Vyth had no memories of this place. But it was certainly something to ponder.
Now, this whole Mirror Walking thing was pretty cool. Sure she could not stay long in Mirror Space or go long distances. Or take other people there. But just being able to step through the polished silver and glass was exciting. And being able to communicate through mirrors was certainly handy as well. It would cut down on the cost of her cellphone bill. Well, cut down on the extra expenses that her cellphone bill might incur if she had to call more people than she already did. And less headachy calls from her father about how high the bill is now. She hadn't explored much of Mirror Space, but figured once she went up in power she'd have more time to wander about and get a good look at things.
Either way, her life had taken an interesting turn none the less.
