Yukii was grinning, and almost giggled when he looked over at Zane. The guy seemed drawn to the more girl-like objects than the male ones... Odd, but to each their own. When Zane came trotting up and asked about color, Yukii opened his mouth, closed it again, and frowned. "Uh... I haven't the slightest."
That was probably something he should have paid attention to.
"And I have no idea about colors... Isn't pink typically a girl color and blue for boys? I think I saw stuff like that in a nursery store display..." Already this parent stuff was confusing, and they were just talking about colors. "What's your favorite color, Zane?"

"None? What about red? Red's a cool color. Green's nice too. Blue . . . " Zane trailed off. He honestly had no idea what one might buy a random guy. He almost felt guilty generalizing it; wasn't that what everyone did when they saw him and his family? What if the kid liked pink too? He pawed absently at the ground. He just had to hope Yukii knew at least a little bit about him.
"Er, well, I guess . . . " It was the usual, so it was safe to choose one of 'em. "You really sure you don't know his favorite color? What about animal?" He began examining a shelf of stuffed animals for anything interesting, but yelped when Yukii asked him his favorite color. "It's . . . um, it's, uh, blue. Blue, yeah." Please, it's pink.

Yukii grinned when Zane said red was a cool color, almost puffing out his own red-colored chest. Ok, so sometimes he got a little full of himself.
"Well, he seemed ta like my polar bear... Haha, he tried to fix it!" The male grinned again at the memory, but frowned when Zane yelped and stuttered. "Blue? Ha, ya sure 'bout that, buddy?" Because the male didn't seem so sure. Thinking fast, Yukii realized it must have been because he just generalized the colors. It seemed this male had a little to hide... "'Cuz no shame in liking pink, ya know."
Leaving it at that, not wanting to push, Yukii examined the stuffed animals Zane was looking at, then wandered over to the playsets. It didn't take him long to find a doctor one. Maybe that would be cool? He could fix the bear a lot better...
