Aliens that were not good. It was a horrifying thought. And only Gabriel seemed to know about it. Well, Gabriel and NOW HER. "Now that I know, won't they be after me? Are they after YOU?"

The bell rang, signifying the end of the lunch period.

"Yes, even people in this school." Gabe said. He reached out and reassuringly squeezed her arm.

"Don't worry. They might not know you know. And mostly people just think I'm crazy, which is a great defense." He grinned. "They don't take the threat seriously, you see..."

And then the bell rang. "Esme. Stay safe, and keep your eyes open." He stood up. Yeah, he had just educated someone. He felt pretty good. "See you around!"

Esme squeaked as Gabe prepared to leave. Her one defense was about to disappear!

"I-I will! I'll talk to you later, Gabe!"

As she watched the boy disappear into the flood of students, Esme's cheeks flushed and her heart pounded. What a nice boy, looking out for her like that...

That could mean only one thing. She'd have to get his number.
