Rednal

Rednal ducked his head down as a bolt of lightning began to move. Really, though. There were very, very few humans who could move fast enough to dodge an aimed bolt of lightning. It was, y'know, electricity. Famed for its movement speed and all. Yidhra, on the other hand, wasn't a human... and she didn't just weaken enemies, she made them less accurate as well, though twisting things enough to get that to happen was harder than she liked. The universe only put up with a certain amount of crap from her when she was like this, and it was kind of hard to change the outcome of something if said universe was really determined to see things go another way, so she probably wasn't going to be able to manage such a dodge again for at least the duration of this encounter. It did send the lightning bolt arcing off to the side, though, giving Rednal just a little bit more time to heal. He didn't look as bad as he had just after finishing the fight with Amelia, but anyone who tried to tell you he wasn't still badly hurt was either lying or stupid. Aaaaaaaand now Faust's got some new sort of powerup. YAAAAAAAY. His mental voice was almost as sarcastic as his real one tended to be. I'm okay with fighting alone if I have to, but... everyone... I think I could probably use a bit of help right about now. Some way to stop Faust and get him to his senses. He was starting to regret being so harsh with Amelia. Maybe it was because, while he cared for all of his friends, Faust was one of his close friends, and he knew a lot more about what was going on now than he did before. That was the real Faust, spouting off nonsense and hearing nonsense in return, being stupid enough to listen to whatever he was hearing. "Take your friggin' victory already, you idiot." Rednal said, raising a hand and pointing at his little white flag.

Rednal

At his level of damage, it wasn't really realistic to think that Rednal could take such an attack and be okay. Which was why it shouldn't have been surprising to anyone that, in fact, he didn't. Stubborn determination aside, there was a completely finite limit to the ability of anyone's ability to take powerful magic attacks, and flames scorched Rednal's body, seared his skin, charred flesh from his bones... and dropped him to the ground like a sack of potatoes tossed over the side of a moving vehicle. Steam rose from the boy's body as he simply lay there, bleeding onto the grass... for just a moment. It wasn't really possible to keep bleeding at the same time as Yidhra's enduring abilities activated to heal his wounds. An automatic sort of thing, the same way she constantly healed him whenever he was hurt, regardless of anyone else's opinion on the matter. He did not, however, get up from his place on the grass.

"...You know what? You're a d**k." Rednal said as he slowly got up after Faust blasted him with another of his special spells. "I've been trying to give you the freaking win, but you just keep on attacking, even when your friend is obviously trying to surrender. Geez, even Amelia knew when to call it, and I didn't think I'd ever say she was a better person than you." A vein on his forehead throbbed harshly. "You can still have your stupid victory, but you're going to frikkin' earn it first!" Power surged through his body and gathered in the gems of Solar Sect as he focused his energy. Behind him, Yidhra grinned widely. Anytime there was a foe, she liked it. Enemies were there to be destroyed, and she was quite protective of Rednal. If this boy needed to be taught a lesson, then she'd gladly lend Rednal a hand. Or a few mouths. Or anything else he was going to need, really. Pummeling Faust a few times in retribution for acting like such a douche was definitely going to feel good. What happened to not wanting to hurt your friends? What am I, a Saint? That was before he attacked a friend when they were down. Yidhra grinned. Paradoxes, contradictory viewpoints, and madness... her favorite!

Rednal

A black aura erupted out of Rednal's body a moment later; the Debilitate was still in effect, but faced with Rednal's tendency to massively amplify his magical power, it became more a case of 'less completely overwhelming' than a case of 'weak'. Gleeful insanity flickered in Yidhra's eyes as eyes and mouths appeared at the end of her hair, the many heads merging, separating, and multiplying with no rhyme or reason to their movements as Rednal reached for every bit of his energy. "I really tried to do this the nice way... but if you aren't even going to try and pay attention when I'm trying to help you..." To smash through everything in his way with overwhelming force, that was Rednal-style action. And if you were going to pummel someone, pummel them with the biggest stick you had.

Yup, he was very predictable like that. On the other hand...

Remind me to talk to you later about a skill idea I have. I wanna see if we can make it work.

"I'm not THAT weak!" Rednal roared as the powerful fire magic blasted his body and tore open new wounds where, moments before, old ones had been healed. There was absolutely no doubt that Faust had unleashed a terribly powerful spell, buffed considerably past the normal point where the magic was at to make it far more effective. One arm had been grabbed, but the other was free, and Rednal jabbed the barrel of Regulus against Faust's stomach. Just as with Amelia, he didn't hesitate at all to pull the trigger, and the resulting explosion launched him backwards and sent him tumbling end over end. It took a spear of green light stabbed into the ground to finally bring him to a stop. Faust's own spell had had its strength increased, and worse, Rednal's own defenses had been weakened. That was a net result of close to two and a half times the normal firepower, which was a whole freaking lot of damage no matter how you tried to look at it, though that did drop a bit from Rednal's defenses, like the boost of his ring and Yidhra's protective spell, to somewhere around twice the normal power. As it happened, Faust's spell was also considerably inferior to Rednal's response. The mirror-image of strengthening spells, the curse had reduced his offensive magic to about sixty percent, which was quite a bit... but Faust had pressed on with his attack anyway, despite the fact that he had to know what Rednal planned to retaliate with. When you combined their various effects, Rednal's passive magical enhancements came to right about twice the power, so even Debilitated, his offense was about one point two times what one might call the 'regular' level. In other words, even weakened, he was stronger than 'normal'. Then, of course, there was the little matter of the Mind Charge that he'd used to increase his strength even further, which brought the power of his magic up to a tripled effect, even stronger than what Faust had unleashed. That wasn't the end. His most powerful spell was a dual-component one, each section hitting for full damage, which had the practical effect of doubling the power of a spell and bringing the damage total up to six times the normal power level of the spell, which was a painfully high amount even if used on a bottom-level skill. What it did at the level of this technique, well... suffice to say that Rednal was pretty certain that even some fairly high-level Shadows would be obliterated in one shot. And that wasn't all, of course. He was Rednal, the team's magical tank, with a focus on taking the enemy's attacks and being a very, very heavy damage dealer, helping to hurt the enemy rather than protect the rest of the team. You couldn't ever win if you didn't hurt your enemy, and in addition to everything he'd added to it already, his Nightmare technique was one that raised his magic up. Raised it way, way up. Exactly how high, Rednal wasn't quite sure, but it was significantly more power than something like a Tarukaja would grant... Which, as an off-hand estimate he wouldn't want anyone quoting him on, he suspected brought the sum total strength of his spell to eleven or twelve times the normal power of a Severe-class spell. At least. Or, in other words, somewhere around five or six times as strong as what Faust had hit him with. It got kind of hazy there at the end; for one thing, being covered in injuries made it hard to do math, and for another, he was a bit confused about how magic worked, but he was relatively certain that was about the power level he'd accomplished do far. Ish. Somewhere in that vicinity, at any rate, give or take a few times the power. Stupid math; he never liked that stuff anyway, even if it was part of the family business. I don't care if you ARE stronger than me at the moment, Faust; I didn't learn how to charge up my magic this much to take on enemies WEAKER than I am! the boy noted in passing. Actually, he wasn't at all sure he could take a hit like that, and considering he'd shot from point-blank range, he rather doubted Faust was totally uninjured, either... unless he'd Enduring Soul'd himself back up, but that would be fine. Are you sure you can take me down fast enough to stop me from hitting you again before this power runs out? he thought sourly. Showing friendship by blowing up everyone I hang out with... Where the heck did my life go so wrong? The day you got Sekai no Kami? Prob'ly.

You have GOT to be ****ing me. I dunno. If you weren't all weakened from that magic of his, you probably would've taken him out. If I can't beat them in one shot even when weakened, I'm not strong enough. Rednal had some very unusual standards when it came to combat. He was a bit like the United States of America, really; not at all satisfied until he could utterly dominate the opponent. It wasn't a terribly sensible standard; in this world, few could manage such a thing, and most of them were more-or-less literally living deities. On the bright side, at least he felt it. d**k. And you know he's going to try and dodge everything with that speed of his... right? It's not like he's going to have any problems with hitting you, so that's the only sane reason for him to want to go faster. And scaring him like we did with Amelia won't work. ...Uh-huh. Actually... I'm sorta regretting being so harsh with Amelia earlier. The way she tries to hold me back and all kind of pisses me off, since I'm usually trying to help her, but I don't think I've ever actually asked her why she does that sort of thing, and whatever her reason, I think going all tentacle monster was probably a little much... I should... probably apologize later. And, uh, I think I'll forgive her for all the annoying things she does, too. Goodness knows I piss people off often enough that I shouldn't throw that stone... You know we're in the middle of a fight, right? Yeah, I just wanted to get that offa my chest. I'm feeling better now, actually, since I got that hit in on 'im. So let's see if I can't do one more. Power surged through his gauntlets again as he focused his power. ...Sorry, 'Selia. Might be coming home hurt again.

Rednal

Even as Faust's speed went up... so did Rednal's own, recovering to its natural level. Which probably wasn't going to be enough... but hey, he'd still feel better doing it, and it certainly wasn't enough to dodge Faust's blow, which sent Rednal barreling over again, dropping his stamina even further (despite Yidhra's efforts to heal him) and sending him quite a bit closer to falling. In return, though... his secondary offensive spell was what Yidhra liked to refer to as "Blow up ALL the enemies!". For some reason, she tended to conjure up a torch and raise her other hand high into the air when she said it... Rednal really had no idea why. Her thought processes were utterly alien, even to him, but it seemed to amuse her well enough. The magic was, well, less powerful in comparison to his Nuclear Winter, but it had the advantage of being better at area attacks, so it could take out more enemies at once. It was the spell that was really awkward for any Japanese person to use... but he'd gotten over that a long time ago. In all seriousness, though, Rednal's thought processes were largely thus: If it's hard to hit something finely, just blow everything up and hit your target as part of that.

Level of subtlety: Zero.

It also had the virtue of not being Debilitated, since Yidhra had finally managed to throw off all of that, which brought the spell's power up quite a respectable chunk, though unfortunately not to as high as his previous attack. However, since the previous attack had been Debilitated, the actual power of this particular spell, somewhat surprisingly, ended up not being much less. About ten times the normal power level, give or take, with twice the power from his normal buffs, two and a half times that (to five times) from his Mind Charge, and however much it was that his Nightmare actually raised his magic. And so it was that a frigging Nuclear Missile plummeted down from the skies and detonated inside the battlefield, blasting everything within it (except Rednal) all at once.

Freaking healing magic.

Well, at least he'd gotten in the hit he wanted to.
