"Some people tell me I th...think too much and that I need to k...keep my head on my shoulders instead of in the c...clouds."
Adowa... Oh yes! her! He didn't know Alassiel very much at all. He usually was either with Reshel practicing, or out exploring. Or being completely awkward in front of somebody. He didn't know many people very well. Sure, he knew who they were, but his stutter made it difficult to talk to many of them, and he could tell it annoyed some people. And he often had little to talk about anyway.
Anyway, Alassiel seemed quiet. Nice enough. He did know Adowa, though. She and Reshel were friends, he thought. He had heard she had a lot of kids, but he had always been too shy to play with the whole hoarde of them... "Y...you can ramble if you want to." He said, smiling kindly with only a trace of his usual shakiness. Actually, he wanted her to keep going. "I'm enjoying it." There was something about Zuri... maybe it was her out-of-place ness that was getting him comfortable around her faster than usual. Plus she was nice. And interesting. And pretty. "It.. its nice to hear about other p...people's families, and if you're rambling then you must like to talk about them." He knew that he could go on for hours about things he liked. Granted, those were things he saw in the jungle that had struck him with that particular helplessly inspired daze that plagues poets and artists. Things like glowing bugs dancing with each other in the early morning mists, or the revealing of the silver face of the moon from behind dark stormclouds or... Other things like that. That was one of the reasons why he liked to wander in the jungle on occasion... so he could find things to describe to people. Maybe one of these days he would tell stories to the younglings, like Reshel had told him he should do. But when faced with all of those large, curious eyes.... he got so tense and nervous and couldn't do anything BUT stammer. So not yet.
"And If you l...like them, I don't mind h...hearing more about them..."

Zuri shook her head. “Well those people are being silly. It’s good to have your head in the clouds, that is where all the best ideas live.” She said with a nod and a smile.
When he said it was okay for her to ramble she smiled. She could talk a lot, and she knew that some people were annoyed by it. Although some people humored her and let her tell them about her life back home, she could tell that they didn’t really care to listen. They were just being nice to her. Biroki was different. He seemed to really care about what she was saying.
“Yes I miss them very much.” She said looking off a little. She hadn’t seen her siblings in a few months and she missed them more then she could express. Letters just weren’t same as seeing them every day. “Their parents passed away when they were young, and my father took them in. He was a council member and their parents were good friends of ours. So my father took them in without hesitation. I was three years old when it happened.” it was surprising when it happened, but she was happy to have two siblings. “They say us ice folk give off a regal air, but Kayin takes it to a while other level. She really thought herself a queen.” Zuri laughed at the thought. “However before I left she had calmed down the attitude and everyone is getting along with her better. Her twin bother Alek couldn’t be more different. He is very calm and shy. When we were young he was scared of his own shadow. He has grown a little more outgoing, but he still isn’t the most outgoing person ever. He has a big heart. I hope that they two of them will come see me soon.” she said happily. She was sure that Biroki and Alek would get along well, though Kayin might be a little much for him.

He nodded understandingly. He knew very well what it was like to have your parents die and to be raised by another. But... What was a council? He wondered what she meant by that. Not the time to ask, though. He could ask later. He was fascinated, though. Such an interesting story... Such interesting people... Alek sounded like someone Biroki could like... But not so much Kayin. He had never met someone who thought that highly of themselves... He wondered if it would be off-putting, if he met her in person. "W..Well... do have that sort of, uh, Regal? air... er... manner, L... Like..." He had an analogy in mind, a good one. He just had to articulate it. He had actually thought a great, elder Radaku in the moonlight, and was about to say it, when he caught himself. He'd be calling her old! He was pleased to have caught it. He usually didn't. "Like a... a... Great tree in the sunlight... Standing straight and tall in it's own clearing in the f...forest... It's leaves f...filtering the light into beams..." He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again. "I... yeah. Thats pretty noble. Regal." He smiled apologetically. "Theres... not many s...sorts of things like that here, though. Its m...more Free and Unbound than anything... t... The things it e...e...evokes, that is..." Evoke had always been a hard word for him... for some reason. He frowned. "It must be nice to have s...siblings..." he had none, "But Isn't it a long way f...from Zena?" He looked around a bit at the trees, thinking about what it would be like to leave. Not fun, for him at least. Definitely not yet. Not now. Maybe not ever. He thought Zuri was very brave. "M... Maybe..." He glanced at her nervously, "Do you th..think they would leave Zena? Your S...siblings?"

She smiled when he compared her to a great tree. That was something she had never heard before. But it was true; there were not many things that were more regal then a great tree in the sun. The compliment made her smile and bush slightly. Biroki made her happy, she would see him again. This she was sure of.
When he said it was far she nodded. “Yes, it was a nice growing up with siblings. For three years I had none, and I couldn’t even imagine what life would have been like without them.” She loved her siblings, and although she would be lying if she said she never had issues with them, but that was the best part about having siblings. “Yes, Zena is very far.” the trip was one she loved, she met a lot of new people and saw things that she never would have if she stayed in Zena. “I don’t know really. They would only come if they came together, I know Alek would never come alone and I don’t think that Kayin would leave her brother.” she hoped that they would come see her. But she did worry that they wouldn’t come and see her.

"If... If they don't come..." He hesitated. He probably should have hesitated before he had said that instead of after, "I... I'd be happy to keep you c...company or... or help you prepare for another t...trip to see them..." It really sounded like she knew them so well, inside and out. Reshel knew him better than he knew himself... He supposed Reshel was sort of like his big brother figure, but... well... Biroki considered him to be family but not that kind of family. Teacher-family. Family as in the tribe and the village, not family like his mother and father. More like his other mother, the one he had only heard about. He liked Reshel, but they both understood that nobody could replace his mother and father. He didn't know if he would have the guts to go with her, though... So he kept silent about that. "Life without siblings c...can be normal, I g... guess. I've never had siblings." It was an awkward subject, family, and sometimes difficult and painful... but one he actually didn't mind talking about. "Your... your father, though. He sounds g... grand-hearted. Taking in p...people without any f...fuss... who weren't... Weren't blood relatives? N...not that that m...matters so much!" He winced at his awkwardness again as they walked, "I...I mean, but... uh... There... There was fuss when Reshel t...took me in... So... I just th...thought... You'r father m...must be a v...very good man... And Respected, right? Is... is that what th...this council you m...mentioned is? Something v...very important?" He finally stopped talking and took a few deep breaths. And laughed a little. "S...sorry... I... uh... You may have n... noticed... I do that... Talk alot when I s...screw up..."

When he said he would come with her Zuri's face lit up like a candle. Company on her way back home? There was no one besides Biroki that she would think about traveling with. Sure she hadn't known him all that long, but for the little time she had known him he was amazing. She didn't even start to think about him saying that he would help her prepare to go. In her head her and Biroki were already traveling if her siblings didn't come down to see her.
She nodded. If it wasn't for Alek and Kayin she also would have grown up without siblings. When he asked about her father she smiled. "Oh yes, the council are the people who make the rules and make sure everything is enforced. He was a mage. Mostly healing magic though." She hated to sound like she was bragging, but to her her father was the most amazing and powerful man alive. "The twin's parents were close to him, like family, so when they passed away it just made sense to him to take them in as his own children. He would always tell me that their parents would've done the same with me if the tables were turned." she nodded thoughtfully.
"Screw up? You haven't screwed up at all. Don't think that!" she said putting her hand on his shoulder.

The thought of travelling scared him in general and he wasn't sure about it, honestly. But he would rather make sure Zuri wasn't all alone on a trip than be happy and comfortable! The very thought of her travelling all that way alone made him... cold... He wasn't sure if she wouldn't have to drag him out, if it came to that. Her reassurances managed to calm him down again. He found it easier than usual to stop jumping into rabbit-like panic mode at every little thing. As long as she was there. She was a calming sort of person. Cooling? Maybe it was because she was blue... Or just Zuri. "That seems..." He thought of the right word. "So n...nice and orderly." He looked up at the canopy, thinking about how that could be. A council? A nice, no-fuss adoption of children? That kind of importance? Shifters didn't have that kind of order. Shifter affairs were kind of loose and individual. It sounded... reasonable. Not that he didn't like being a Shifter in Jahuar, but this council thing seemed... sensible? He noticed that the light filtering through the canopy was starting to look... different. He stopped and frowned a moment, absentmindedly swinging the bag half full of roots, "Its almost sunset? Already?" He looked around, then smiled suddenly, a smile full of anticipation and excitement. "Oh! Z...Zuri! You want to see something really n...neat? I know a place nearby where the s...sunsets are amazing! I... I won't tell you more because you have to see it!" This was a different Biroki, almost. He was positively restless with excitement. And he was back to barely stuttering at all. "Do you want to see it?" He glanced at the trees. From where they were, if they went from branch to branch, they would make it with time to spare, which was perfect!

"Oh yes it is. I was thinking of suggesting it down here, because it works well for us, but at the same time I think the Shifter community has their own way of dealing with things and I wouldn't want to mess with that." she said nodding. Sure she thought that the way things were handled better back at the Ice Tribe but at the same time things weren't all that bad here. Everyone handled things differently, it was what made all the tribes differently.
When he noticed that it was almost sunset she looked up in surprise. Had they been out there that long? Honestly she couldn't even remember how long the two of them had been out or when she had stumbled across him. When he asked if she wanted to see something neat she was surprised. He was different, more excited and sure of himself. "Of course!" she replied. "Lead the way!" his excitement was contagious and she found herself with a large smile on her face.

Biroki climbed with the agility of one born in the canopies of Jahuar. He balanced on a branch, gathering his weight before jumping to the next branch. He knew this part of the forest well enough to know which tree to jump to in the branch avenues of Jahuar. But... Two jumps in, he realized that maybe Zuri wouldn't! She was from a very different place... Did they even have trees there?! Oh no! He should have thought of that! He would have to go slower... but that could mean that they would miss it! Or not, there was still time... "D... do you need any help?" He asked, crouching on a branch, trying to see her through the distance he had already put on. "I Mean, do they have trees in Zena?"

It didn't even cross her mind that they would be going to this place via the trees. As Biroki sped off Zuri was left watching in awe. Sure she had climbed a few trees in her time there in Jahaur but she wasn't a pro like Biroki was. However she was determined to not seem weak. She tried to watch Biroki and go where he already went, since those were proven to be safe.
When he asked her if she needed help she blushed. She hated asking for help, and she couldn't help but feel this was something she should know how to do. After all she was half shifter. "We have trees at Zena, but we don't really climb them. Not like this anyways." she said laughing a little. She finally reached where Biroki was and smiled. "Nope I don't need help, see I got this!" she said proudly. Unfortunately in her moment of pride she put her foot in the wrong spot and began slipping from the branch she was out. In surprise she reached out for Biroki.

Biroki smiled sheepishly. "R-really?" She seemed to be getting the hang of it, though he thought he should probably go slower, "Oh okay, y-you'll have to tell me about them a..." He cut off his question with a cry of surprise as Zuri fell. Faster than he could realize it, he had grabbed her hand, suspending her above the jungle floor. He braced himself against the branch, grabbing with his other hand for support. His arms tired quickly as he struggled to get her back on the branch. He wasn't a physically strong Shifter, just atheletic enough to climb and jump quickly and run like hell away. But not for sustained holding of things, and Zuri was heavy. Oh no no, wait! She wasn't heavy! If he said she was heavy that would mean she was fat and she wasn't fat and wasn't that a good thing anyway? But you weren't supposed to tell ladies that they were fat! She wasn't fat, anyway! Zuri was Pretty and slender! He just had never had to hold someone up like this before! "Zuri!" He yelped, struggling to hang on to her. They had gotten fairly high up, to the point where a fall could be bad, even with the cushy soil cover of Jahuar. The fall would hurt, or worse. He didn't want her to fall. He didn't want to fall, himself. The branch was bent a little, but the real danger was not from it breaking but from him losing his balance and falling too. "H-Hang on!" It wasn't her so much as him that needed the encouragement

Her life was flashing before her. She hadn't lived that long and although she had traveled far there were so many more things she wanted to do with her life. At once she realized that she had stopped falling and Biroki was holding on to her hand. Maybe she would live! He could tell that he was struggling so she started looking around for something to grab with her free hand. Telling her to hang on was something that she didn't really need, since there was no way she would ever let go of his hand. Though she was kind of scared of pulling him down with her. Maybe she should let go, if it was just her that got her it would be better then both of them? Right? Looking around she couldn't see anything, though the branch that Biroki was standing on was almost close enough for her to reach. If she could just reach it maybe with his help she could pull herself up. "You can do this Biroki, if you could just pull me up a little I could reach the branch and pull myself up with your help." he could do it, she knew he could, he just had to realize that he could. She stretched her free hand as much as she could, trying her hardest to reach the branch.

He tried, really he did! But his muscles were at their limits of exertion and he could feel himself teetering. Still, though, his hands were gripping her hand very hard. He wasn't going to let her fall, of course not! But... He couldn't do it. He couldn't pull her up those last few inches himself! An idea struck him and he looked around. It wasn't a very good or hopeful idea, but... what if... Ah! There was a branch within reach just a big above him! If he grabbed it, maybe he could... But that meant he had to let go of her with one of his hands... And he wasn't sure he could hold on with just one hand... His foot slipped a bit and he felt a thrill of fear... but his position held. He thanked whatever there was for a shifter to thank. What could he do? His arms were rapidly beginning to feel like noodles... Wait. If he crouched down, he would be more stable, right? And then maybe he could grab her in two spots and help her up then? Like, her hand and her shoulder? Or...? And then he would be less likely to fall, if he balanced it right... Actually... He moved one hand closer to the elbow, pulling that way for a moment, worrying that he was going to wrench something loose... he wasn't sure what... It was a lot like hauling a rope except she was bigger, heavier, and he didn't care if a rope fell... "I-I'm going to..." he crouched down, knees to the branch his hands holding her arm a bit more stably- if painfully, one hand on her hand, one hand on her elbow. He could bend his elbows a bit this way and he managed to pull her up higher than before, closer to the branch. Maybe she would be able to reach it! "-try S-something..." He tried to be quick when he let go of her hand. It was difficult. he had been holding on so hard that his hand ached. He held her by her elbow alone for a brief moment.
He tried to be quick when he reached for her other shoulder and grabbed what he could grab. He managed to grab just under her shoulder... and his fingers accidentally became tangled with the upper fringe of her top. In another situation, he might have noticed and leapt away, flushing and stammering various and sundry apologies. But at this current moment, he was just trying to get her back onto the branch. Now more stable on the branch, and better able to act as a lever, he pulled. Now... Now maybe she could climb back on... And things would be okay...
((This post comes to you with some actual serious research involving me standing on my bed with my heavy a** backpack XD It works if he grabbed her hand with his left hand.... And also my desire to make the world wonderfully awkward for Biroki.))

"Okay. I trust you." she said when he said he was going to try something. And honestly she did trust him, she was saying it more so he could know that more then anything. She didn't want to put pressure on him, but she figured this words of encouragement would be good for him. He was moving a lot and she wasn't really sure what was going on, but she figured he had a plan and that was enough for her. She was also busy trying to reach the branch, and making sure if he was able to pull her up even a little that she would grab it the branch. When he let go of her hand and was only holding her by her elbow she began to panic slightly, though she tried not to show it on her face. Was he letting go? But then he quickly grabbed her shoulder, well under her shoulder and the side of her chest kind of. She was startled for a second but the next he was pulling her up and she was finally able to grab the branch and with his help pull herself up. "Oh Biroki you saved me!" She said balancing herself. "If I wasn't so scared of falling I would hug you." she said laughing, the fact that his hand was tangled in her told completely forgotten.
((Haha I love you! Good research skills))

Biroki blushed. He had never saved anybody before. His blush became more and more noticeable, and it was clear that he was turning his evening colors. He didn't seem to notice, not yet. He was more concerned at the moment. "A-are you all right?" he asked, also not noticing that his hand was tangled in her shirt, "I-it helps if you are low d-down on the branch. Balancing." He looked down nervously. "I-...I, ah..." He wasn't sure how to respond to the 'hug' comment. He was fairly certain he would turn red instead of white if she hugged him, like completely red. He did notice now that he was slowly turning from black to a dark grey to, finally, white-silver. "Oh! Oh no!" He frowned at the sky. "W-we missed it... The sunset... There was an a-amazing view I wanted to sh-show you, with the glow bugs coming out as the sun set... Th-they look like they... uh... carry the suns colors, you... you see... I g-guess we can see them tomorrow? B-but..." He laughed nervously, a bit shakey, "I... I guess we'll go by ground..." He didn't know how to get there as well by ground, but he would rather get lost than have Zuri fall and be hurt or worse!
He still hadn't noticed his hand was tangling in her straps.
But still. At least there were Illo. Biroki loved Illo. They were glowing now, wriggling onto the darkening forest floor like a river of light. There must be a nest of them nearby... "Look!" he said, pointing... His hand tugged something and... Well... That was when he noticed he was tangled in her shirt, and that his tugging was inadvertently... "Ahh! S-s-sorry! Ohmygosh, I'm S-sorry!" He yelped, struggling to get his fingers untangled, but either inadvertently doing nothing or making it worse with every frantic struggle. He wasn't a completely red shifter... But he was getting close.
((Hehehehehe XD))
