When Maya said that even they would have to wear fur Briella started to imagine what fur would look like on her. Since she had never really seen warm clothing before she couldn’t even imagine what she would wear. It would have to be a lot more then what she was currently wearing, that was for sure. As Dya described the object that Maya had shown the two of them Briella remembered feeling terrified. It seemed like Dya read her mind when she said it must have been difficult to injure. Something that strong must have been very hard to kill, but it was Maya so she wasn’t surprised that her sister had slain the beast. When Maya said she hadn’t shown the scale to Neibet or Elder pride swelled up inside her. So she was one of the lucky two. When Maya said that Neibet’s pride would be hurt she laughed and shook her head. It was true, their oldest sister would not be happy that Maya did something she hadn’t and most likely couldn’t. She was a good warrior, but Briella secretly thought Maya was better.

Thankfully Dya kept asking questions, which kept Maya on the exciting subject. When Maya said she wasn’t scared Briella nodded. “Knew it.” she said under her breath. She knew Maya wouldn’t have been scared; it was a silly question to even ask. As she talked more about the dragon Briella moved a little closer, hanging on every word. When she said that the dragon was blind Briella started to feel a little bit sorry for the dead thing. She agreed with Maya that it wouldn’t have had to die, but at the same time Maya and the others had no choice. It seemed it was the dragon or them, and Briella for one was happy it was the dragon and not her sister. “You did what you had to. Maybe it was just the dragons time to go.” she said trying to cheer her sister up a little. Death was a sad thing when it happened to any creature.

“Hmmm...” Dyakida imagined how fur would feel if it was worn. She had never had need to wear it herself, of course, being in the warm jungles of Chibale and Jahuar for her entire life. It probably felt nice.
She tried not to speak ill of even her fierce and sometimes very cold (emotionally) sister, but...
“Niebet could use a few stings to her pride to realize that she has a long way still to go.” She said, with only the barest hint of bitterness. Maya would have to take care to bring caution across when she did tell this story to their sister.
Otherwise it would only fire her up even more.
Dyakida smiled her small smile. There was some dispute over whether she or Maya was older (though Dyakida did like to think of herself as a bit wiser), but it did not entirely matter who was older. Dyakida KNEW Maya. Maya had been scared.
Fear itself did not make one a coward. You had to run for that to be true, and even then you had to keep running instead of turning around and striking from a new position. Fear was a powerful tool. She didn't think less of her sister for lying, however. The smile faded.
That poor creature.
It had probably been very confused and disoriented. Probably territorial too. It was no fault of it's own that it had had to die. Maybe, as Bri had said, it was it's time to go. Maybe, now that it was free it could... see again...
Dyakida's mood crumbled into dark and brooding thoughts, but she was used to getting out of them, well, enough so that her sisters wouldn't notice.
Besides. She couldn't let those bitter thoughts to taint this wonderful day.
She put on a somewhat false smile before injecting some levity into the conversation.
“I, too, can be said to be a dragon in the morning.”
“You said in a mountain? How did you get in there?” She tried to shift the subject to a pertinent and interesting question, since lingering on the dragon was a bit touchy for all of them, it seemed.

"The wind tribe had this strange items that dug into the ground and caved it in. That's how we found the dragon." Moving further into the water Maya shifted on her back to float staring up at the break in the trees to the bright sky above. She could feel the lack of pull on the base of her antenna and felt the lack of pressure relaxing. "I'm just glad to be home."

On the shore Pacju was stretching out near the water languidly ignoring the other sisters as usual. Tail swishing back and forth before looking to Maya who shifted in the water as a fish slid along her spine. The silence seemed to be strained at the moment with her sisters. In an attempt to revive them Maya slowly made her way back before cupping her hands for a perfect splash.

When Dyakida said that Niebet could use something to bring down her pride Briella nodded. She agreed, however she wasn’t sure it would be a good idea. She didn’t want Niebet to cause more problems then she normally did. It was bad enough when they agreed that she was the best, Briella could only imagine what would happen if her and Dyakida told her they thought Maya the better warrior.

When Dyakida said she could be called a dragon in the morning Briella laughed, laying back in the water. She didn’t think any of her sisters were any worse in the morning then at night, but she did remember some of her older sisters back at the main land getting pretty cranky at times. However she frowned at thinking about the dragon being blind like Dyakida. Would the same happen to her sister? Would she have to protect herself from people who meant her no harm, though she would be unaware of this? No, not only would she never let her sister be in danger she knew that Dyakida was much smarter then any dragon. She would be able to fix the issue peacefully.

She closed her eyes, but when Maya said the wind tribe had digging items she wondered what they looked like. “What do the Wind people look like?” she asked. When Maya said she was glad she was home Briella nodded. “It sure is nice to have you home! It isn’t the same without you here, right Dya?” she asked her other sister. She didn’t like when Dyakida or Maya were gone to long, especially when left with Niebet.

With her eyes closed there was no way that Briella would have known she was about to be attacked.

“Yes.” Agreed Dyakida, gently lifting a foot, just for the sensation. It was really relaxing just to let the water flow over her and wash away “Its...” Well, she didn't like to speak ill of her sister, particularly not to Briella. But without Maya's steadfastness, niebet was just awful to be around, and the house with just her, when others were out... Was... Unpleasant.
“It's... you would expect.” She said, lamely. Maya probably knew what she meant.
She rolled around a bit to pretend that she hadn't said even that much.
Of course, Dyakida had no way to tell that she was about to be splashed.
“I didn't think she gave you such a hard time, Brie... Have you been slacking off on your training again?” She asked, slightly teasing.
She wanted to go in a bit deeper. Her muscles were impatient to try swimming again. To cut through the water like a fish.

Maya was about to open her mouth to remind her sisters that Niebet was helpful to them from time to time even if she was a bit snarky, when Pacju raised her head in alarm. Looking off into the same direction Maya had to resist the urge to slink slowly under the surface of the water. The saying really was true 'speak of the devil and she will appear'. Sure enough standing there on the beach was none other than Niebet herself.

"How could you guys not invite me!" She demanded her tone callous as she spoke.

"we just... thought we could use a swim to remove the dirt Niebet." Maya shrugged the slim emotionless facade appeared on her face as she looked back towards Niebet.

Niebet didn't seem to buy the joke as she glared towards Dyakida. "You brought her with you though. You should have invited me too." The older of the four Alkidikes stood firmly in the sandy mud. Obviously upset about having been left out of gathering with her younger sisters. Even if she didn't care for much of their antics or soft hearts.

When Dya suggested that she had been slacking off during her teasing she made a mock sound of surprise loud enough that Dya would be able to hear. “I would never slack off! I’m going to be the best warrior there ever was. Maybe even better then Maya.” she teased with a laugh. She didn’t really think she would be better then Maya, but she would practice to be as good as she could be! She would be a blade one day, and she would work hard until she got there.

After seeing Pacju raise her head Briella looked around to see what startled her, and what she saw she wasn’t ready for. She moved slowly towards Dya. When Niebet spoke up Briella was glad that Maya was the one to answer. She tried to make her face as emotionless as Maya’s one, but she couldn’t quite pull it off as well as her older sister.

When Niebet said something about bringing Dya Briella’s eyes narrowed slightly. How dare she, of course they would bring Dya. She was a joy to be around and Briella would take her anywhere she wanted to go. Niebet on the other hand wasn’t as pleasant. Briella wanted to say these things but feared the consequences of her words so instead she stayed quiet, her hand on Dya’s.

Dyakida had been truly enjoying herself. The water, her sisters... Things were more alive now that Maya was back. She could hear it in Brie's voice. Maya kept them organized. It had been that way when they were travelling and, even now with Elder Kishku present, she was still one of the main binding forces of their group of Sisters.
It was chaos without her.
But this, talking to her, Hearing Brie like this... Relaxing as they once had... Teasing...
It was wonderful and refreshing.

Her good mood evaporated in an instant at Niebet's voice, her sarcasm notes driving daggers of annoyance into the soundscape.

How long?
How long had she been there?
Dyakida's silence became conspicuous. Her face now placidly neutral.
She no longer had much interest in swimming. She wanted to get away. out of the water.
She felt Briella's hand on hers. It was nice to know that she was supported but... at that moment she felt a surge of unworthiness. She didn't deserve Briella's friendship.

...

But she had it anyway. Briella was giving it. She moved into a sitting position in the water, purposely facing just off from Niebet, feeling slightly spiteful towards her. Slightly.

The hand did give her enough courage, small amount though it may have seemed in comparison to the inky, dark feelings swimming just beneath her serene facade.

"Good Afternoon, Niebet." Her voice may have been called just short of Icy in Zena. But here in Jahuar, it was as cool and flowing... and impassive... as the river she sat in.

Maya rose from her comfort in the water, she could already sense her younger sisters distress at Niebet's intrusion. Her eye's previously watching the ripples in the water flicked up almost instantly to glare at Niebet. Flicking the locks of hair over her shoulder, ignoring the slapping chill as the cold water clapped against her warm back her eyes remained narrowed.

"You were sleeping Neibet, if we disturbed you to wake you. You would have removed one of our heads. Do not be angry because we chose to let you sleep." Maya's voice though calm held the slight edge of a knife as she spoke, as if warning Neibet she was stepping out of line.

A look of hurt annoyance passed over her face as she glared from one sister to the other finally resting on Maya. The two seemed to be locked in a powerful gaze, as if testing the power the other held. A fight for control perhaps, or more likely a fight on who was the more dominant of the two. Silence passed between the sister and though they didn't speak they didn't seem to acknowledge the voices of anyone else around them.

Clicking her teeth as she jammed her jaw tight Neibet was the first to break the gaze and turn back to the youngest two. "Fine." Was all she said.

When Dyakida spoke to Neibet she wondered if she should as well. Dyakida did such a good job of hiding her emotions, as did Maya, why hadn't she mastered it yet! Although she was good at it, she assumed an Earthling wouldn't be able to read her emotions, she knew that any of her sisters would. Though she was still young, still learning.

When Maya said that Neibet had been sleeping part of her wondered if it was true. She hadn't really checked on her since she didn't want to be around her. Briella partially felt like this was all her fault. She had been the one to suggest that they go out and do something together. Maybe if she would have thought more she would have realized that although it wouldn't be fun she should have invited Neibet. As her and Maya stared at each other Briella had never felt smaller or more unseen. However for once in her life that was exactly how she wanted it.

When Neibet turned towards her and Dyakida and said fine she was unsure of what to say, or if she should say anything at all. After a few moments of silence she decided to speak, though unsure if it would end positively or negatively. She had to defuse some of the tension. "At least you got some more good sleep? Right?"

Dyakida wasn't entirely sure what was happening, but she could feel the tension in the air. This was a fight she had to sit out of, like many other fights and feuds. She squeezed Briella's hand once, showing her gratitude for the gesture of friendship.
Something in Niebet's tone made Dyakida c**k her head curiously and, seemingly by accident, turn even more off from Niebet.
"Are you leaving then, Niebet?" she asked, her voice smooth and emotion-free.
What she wanted to do was smile victoriously at the frustrated defeat in Niebet's voice.
Yes. Leave. Go away. We were having such a wonderful time until you showed up to spoil it all. Go away. snarled a part of Dyakida's mind that was... angry. At the world, at the endless darkness, at... at... well lots of things, really.
"... To catch up on more sleep, of course. You have been patrolling during the nights, have you not?
PostPosted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:13 am

Neibet stood there studying Briella carefully as if trying to consider if she was actually as intelligent as she appeared. Then shifted to the blind half creature. "Sleep is a weak need of ours. Hopefully one will be able to surpass this great need in no time at all." Her nose rose slowly in the air as she continued her small speech and took no notice of Maya as she turned her back to Neibet.

"Besides," she continued. "Tonight is Maya's night to do the patrolling. She is the one who should have been left behind to sleep more."

Maya giggled. "Sister you are deluded, tonight really is your turn to patrol but if you are to scared to go alone I guess I could join you."

Silence passed over Neibet as she held her tongue and another challenging glare bounced between the sisters.

Briella rolled her eyes. People needed sleep, everyone needed sleep. If Niebet thought that she would ever be able to never sleep and still function then she was even stupider then Briella already thought she was. However she listened as Niebet spoke, listening to every word. When she said that Maya had to patrol a confused look came across her face. She knew that it was Niebet's night, how did she get confused about it? When Maya corrected her with a laugh a giggle also escaped Briella's mouth. She could see the challenge brewing between the three sisters, but hopefully Niebet would realize that it was three against one and there was no way that she would ever win.

"We could all go with you Niebet? I mean we wouldn't want something happening to you." she said with a smile. Briella was the youngest, so she could look innocent still while she said things, but it was a taunt none the less.

"You can, of course, always stay home with me..."
Not a pleasant thought. Dyakida didn't actually mean it.
For the most part though, she decided to stay out of the fight and listen to it unfold.
Niebet's frustration was palpable.

They would likely be on the recieving end of her vengeance later, but fr now, a little vengeance of their own was sweet indeed.
"Yes." she said with a small smile, her voice completely deadpan, "That would be quite a tragedy, would it not?"

Her expression was changeless.
"Perhaps I should go with you too, just to be sure that you return safe"
Of course, Dyakida never went on patrol. What was the point if she could not see?

"With the three of us there, I'm sure you'll be safe. Just like old times."
Perhaps she was being a touch too... mean... to her sister. Then again, it might teach her humility...

"You..." The words escaped Neibet as she stood there staring at Dyakida with disdain, not only did she poison her younger sisters but she always thought she could get away with everything she said because she was always with Maya or Briella. For yet another time, she wished that it was just her and Dyakida in a fight so she could teach her that Neibet was to be respected. Her eyes darted back to the silent Blade before her.

Maya stood there with a frown on her face, her eyes dark and her antenna quivered though her body didn't move and her eyes still bored into Niebet. "I'm not afraid of you Maya. And I'm not afraid of Jahaur's forests either I don't need my sisters around me to feel safe." Niebet spat.

With the disturbance Pacju had moved silently into the water as if she were stalking prey. She could sense the energy of the fight even if no muscled seemed to move. She could tell it was a fight of power, of leadership. Placing herself beside Maya her head low and her teeth bared she waited for her companions signal.

"Of course not sister." Maya said calmly her voice well contained with years of training. "You have no need to fear us any more than you are able to. As I said we are sorry you were left out. You do make things difficult for us. Have you not seen the sun in some weeks?" Maya stepped forward and placing a hand on Niebets shoulder.

Neibet cursed as she swatted Maya's hand away staring at the canopy above.

"How about you relax and I'll let you help me pull away an opening for the sun in the canopy up there." Maya soothingly continued as she pointed to the leaves and branches. "I cleared them last summer but they have grown back in again. You need the sunlight you just refuse to admit such. Leave our younger sisters who are clearly testing your patience sister."

Silence fell over Neibet.
