"Oh." Digesting everything he'd said, she nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "I... I think that makes more sense. Than just trying to be bad a**, y'know? I m-mean, Chaonis was really nice and awesome and he probably means well, but, um, his advice giving skills m-might need a little work. But some of it was good! Like, er, 'trust your instincts' and 'don't get psyched out'? Maybe the bad a** thing would've been better if he explained how to be a bad a**, or something..." She trailed off, shrugging. His advice to be more confident had been pretty sound, she thought - it'd helped her a bit, certainly, although she was a bit embarrassed to admit that what'd really helped her the most had been her chat with the Dark Mirror senshi, Remarque. "I don't really want to hurt anyone. Like, Negaversers and those other senshi? I wish we could just all be friends." Her brow furrowed. "That s-sounds really childish, doesn't it? But I really do. I don't want to hurt them, especially not permanently or, um, anything. I just-" she hesitated, "I'd like them to be happy, but without having to hurt other people for it. Stealing energy and such. And starseeds, back in the day. I d-don't think doing all that stuff is very healthy for a person."

“I don’t think that’s childish,” Ganymede responded quietly, somewhat sad. At the same time, he unconsciously lifted a hand to his chest at the mention of starseeds, rubbing through his corset impulsively.
The way the other senshi had worded her statements might have seemed childish to other people, but Ganymede thought he knew what she meant by it and to an extent he agreed with her. Actually, his agreement probably went further than “to an extent.” He was fairly certain life would be far easier for everyone if both sides of the war could find some way to coexist, if they’d just put their differences aside long enough to talk things through and leave the past to the past.
Perhaps the Negaverse had a reason to be wary. Maybe some of what they said about the Senshi and the Moon Queen was true. Maybe it wasn’t. Sometimes Ganymede didn’t think it should matter. None of them were who they’d been before. All of that, what had started all of this, had happened hundreds of years ago, to different people who thought different things in different places.
Why shouldn’t they be able to move beyond that? Why should they have to be the victims of a past that had long since been over?
“We were all normal people before all of this started, weren’t we?” he said. “They’re made to think a certain way, and we… we don’t really know the truth either, but we can’t sit around and let other people get hurt. If we could just sort it out, find the root of the problem and get rid of it, then I don’t see why everyone wouldn’t be able to be happy. They’ve all suffered just as much as we have. We just… do it to each other instead of figuring out how to make it stop.”

"Yeah." Her voice was sad as she nodded along to his words. "It's all us in the end, n-no matter what anyone says about Moon Princesses and the past and whatnot. Like... we're not given a choice to become senshi, but we are given choices - you could give it up if you wanted, or become one of the bad guys, or start hurting civilians. So there are choices, even if they're not very good ones." Having choices always mattered; both Vanadis and Ganymede had made a choice to actually be senshi, even if becoming one might not have been their choice. "So I think maybe we can choose to make peace, too. It'll take time, obviously, and we'd have to find someone on the Chaos side actually willing to listen, but I'm sure it can be done! It might not be p-perfect, but imperfection could work too." She was half-certain that her words hadn't made much sense, but she'd tried her best.

Her words made sense to Ganymede, at least enough for him to find himself agreeing with her.
“Some of them listen, sometimes,” he said. “I know someone… one of my teammates… he’s talked to a few of them. It’s not always as hard as some of the others make it out to be. I guess it just… depends on the moment, and what sort of attitude you approach them with. It’s a little harder to get people in the mood to talk when they’re being ordered to fight us, but one-on-one… every once in a while there might be some progress. I suppose it’s just a matter of expanding upon that.”
Which wasn’t easy and likely wouldn’t be perfect, but what part of life was supposed to be?
“I think, right now, one of the important things is to get them to question what they’re told about us,” he continued. “Some of us probably give them a reason to be wary. I know a few of them were captured and tortured by some senshi at some point last year, so… getting passed that’ll take time, trying to change their opinions after something like that is going to be harder than it would have been before it, but we’re not all like that, and I think if we make a point of showing that, some of it might get through to a few of them.”
He paused to frown sadly, thinking back over some of his encounters, some of the battles he’d been a part of, both minor and major. There were a lot of instances that made giving up seem inevitable. He’d only been doing this for less than two years, and he was already so tired. He hadn’t even had it as bad as some of the others, but the stress and the pressure had a way of building up and weighing down on him. Some people might answer with a means of revitalizing their side of the war, but why should they have to? Was it really so impossible for all of them to set everything aside and just go back to a normal life?
“It can’t be as hopeless as it seems,” he mumbled.

"I think you're right," she nodded with a determined expression, "we need to show them that we're not all gung-ho 'l-let's eradicate the enemy!'." She hadn't known that there'd been senshi who'd actually managed to capture people on the side of Chaos, much less that the prisoners had been tortured. That was - that was gruesome, she couldn't help but think. How much did you have to hate someone to do something like that? It couldn't be healthy, for anyone. "And getting through to a few of them is better than none, right?" She shot him a smile, hoping to cheer him up a bit. It was a heavy topic they had going, and it seemed to weigh on him a bit; despite the seriousness of their talk, however, she couldn't help the spark of admiration his words brought to her. Having a plan was always a good thing, even if it was a long-term plan at the moment! "I don't t-think it's hopeless, it's just..." she thought for a second, " hard. It's not going to get easier or anything, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. It'll take time and effort and a whole lot of work, b-but it's not hopeless." She had to believe in that, at least. "We might not get through to everyone who's on the side of Chaos, at least not right now, but that doesn't make it impossible to do so in the future. We just g-gotta stick to it!"

“With an attitude like that, I think you might be able to manage it,” Ganymede replied, a small smith twitching back into place.
Attitude wasn’t everything, but it was definitely a big part of the fight. He didn’t share the same sort of optimism she seemed to grasp hold of as she spoke, but there were a few moments when he felt at least a tiny shred of it. Otherwise his approach was more hope wrapped in cynicism. He wanted things to happen a certain way, he wanted things to get better, and he had a few ideas as to how to make that happen, but he couldn’t ignore the futility that often seemed to mar their efforts.
It was hard to stay hopeful when a lot of things seemed so hopeless, but he hadn’t given up yet. As long as there were still people out there who believed what he believed, he thought he could keep going for as long as he needed to.
He just hoped it would be long enough.
“Anyway, I’ve probably taken up enough of your time,” he continued, his small smile slipping into an amused sort of smirk. “I never know when to shut my mouth and stop talking, but if we keep standing around here like this someone’s bound to sense us. You should get going, ice your shoulder and stuff. You’ve probably seen enough action for one night.”

She giggled quietly, glad that he seemed to have cheered up a little bit, at least. "It's OK, I w-went on for a bit too. It was a good talk, though. And yeah, better get home before something - or someone - else finds me," she grimaced. "Thanks again for the rescue, seriously, you're amazing!" Waving probably wasn't a good idea with her shoulder, so she settled for a smile, a nod and a 'see you later' before she took off, determined to take the shortest route home. Even with her injuries, she'd gotten really lucky tonight; who knew what would have happened to her in that fight if Ganymede hadn't shown up to save the day?
