B0nez could not roll his eyes any harder. "Crushing is for guys who can't get camghouls 2 deliver."

Harrison watched as his own walls took another onslaught, but- for whatever reason- held.

Marcus looked relieved.

"Your weapon okay with girls? Ghouls? Whatever?" Harrison asked Ro as they walked back out onto the bridge between the observatory and the island, not sure how other people...worked that out. With B0nez it had never been a problem, the ghost had...some pretty weird tastes, sure, but nothing that clashed with Harrison's.

"Eh, yeah, in Moon and Mist anyhow. If we were in life we'd have access to the good stuff-" B0nez said longingly.

Harrison was flagging, bricks and minus the superstrength B0nez usually afforded him wore on a guy. Half-way there. Two more rounds. This time he distributed the fortifications more evenly, adding only a few bricks to one of the already-strong walls and evening up two of the weaker ones.

Marcus fiddled with the chain on her leg.

"Are there more coming?" He asked, voice trembling.

Harrison nodded, and finished off what he could of third wall. Time was up.

B0nez muttered something about protocols.

Harrison looked at Ro's noodly arms as they walked back to the observation tower.

"Uh, thanks. I think I've got it."

The walls took another brutal crash of assault, but by the time the smoke cleared and one of the walls had completely crumbled, the forces ebbed, exhausted. The damage was minimal. One shadowy claw withered an inch from Marcus's glittery heels.

Harrison repeated the process, and this time built them up even more than last time. The first time on Moon Island, it had been him against the hordes, but the walls helped a hell of a lot. Dumb things ripped themselves up trying to get through them.

"I think, Princess, you might just make it," he said arranging the heavy wall parts to his satisfaction before heading in again, and ignoring the golem's light-headed distress and fear.

B0nez squinted. "So," he asked Sylvia, still watching the walls, "you have any favorite games, movies, music, etc?"

"Typical," B0nez grumbled at maybe the most ghouly list he had ever heard. "SHAME U R SO SLOW," He shouted back at Ro, then sulking into the sleeves of his folded arms. "...I can't believe you've got life labs access and you're just going to download a bunch of sappy crap."

Harrison rubbed the back of his neck, "Yeah, he can be kinda ornery, wasn't too sure how he would get on with folks. He'd rather be holed up with a computer..."

He got back to the station, then watched as another horde of shadows bubbled up from the edges of the island.

One of the walls broke, and Marcus lost his crown, but he was still wobbling around on his feet, demanding that Harrison get back down there with reinforcements.

Harrison grinned.

"One more round. Don't even have to hold my breath for this one. ...I been wanting to get my hands on those daggers a long time."

"Those that don't do, watch," B0nez quipped. "And duh, good non-suck stuff, obviously. Humans have tooooons of new releases that we've been missing, action movies, FPS, I bet Joan of Arc has a new album out and we're missing ii-hi-iiiiit."

Harrison quirked his mouth in a smile, "Just bandaids for me. Having two swords makes it kinda hard to use multiples. I only got two hands. Though from the way B0nez talks, you'd think I oughta be equipped with eight."

He looked thoughtful as he stacked bricks. "They are, kinda. They both like...you know, techy stuff. Don't care too much for losing, either. For me, winning's relative. A day I get out of s**t alive's a good day. Guess it's why I got put in Moon. Let the other guys deal with espionage or tech or mauling the other guy."

He finished off. Not like he really needed to secure this one. They'd gotten to Round 5, already. Won.

Marcus was crying, dress ripped down his shoulders. He was muddy and bloody and sitting down, rubbing his ankle.

"Not that it's an easy job."

The instructions had said they only had to last long enough to get to round 5. They had.

Harrison watched with a sort of resignation as a tired and beaten Princess Marcus succumbed to the last gory, desperate bites of the shadowlings.

It was the lesson they wanted to get through to Moons, he guessed. The whole course was built on futility. Lasting as long as you can against an onslaught that kept on coming. Not like the Miss Taken Tower, or the Shadow Course or- Life. Jenga. That one had similar lessons. You take what you can until there isn't any more.

"Like playing L4D Surrrvee-vi-all Mode," B0nez said, echoing his thoughts again and twisting a knob boredly. "Well, now that we're all done sandbagging."

Harrison nodded, terse. "Yeah. Earned our auxiliaries, I guess." He frowned. "Not pretty, huh? ...You going to go any more rounds?"

"They melt," Harrison said, regardless of the golem being in earshot. "Dust to dust. Doesn't take long after the simulation's over. A few minutes." But he helped Roland uncuff Princess!Ceres regardless.

His tone softened, "Killzone was a good guy. Lot of hunters still alive because of him. But he's a dumbass for getting himself killed. And now there's nobody to look after those guys he saved."

Harrison looked at Roland, "A dead Moon's no good to anybody."

"This isn't an FPS," B0nez said in an obviously tone. He shrugged at Sylvia's other question. "I don't see what the big deal is anyway. One, undeads are hotties. Two, I'm dead and look how great I turned out. Being alive's overrated. Whether your main will D/C at the first hint of a body count, who knows. Humans are weird about bodies."
