Oh hey, he's got some curry left. Yuri bends down to reach into the fridge and then pauses at Luke's words. Underweight? Come to think of it, Luke hadn't been looking so great lately.
"Yeah?"
Grabbing the container of curry and some rice, Yuri went to heat it up in his little microwave. He then leaned against the counter, arms folded, as he waited, black eyes focusing on Luke.

"Yeah." He averted his attention on realizing that Yuri's was on him. It wasn't really something he wanted to talk about, except that it kind of was something he wanted to talk about. Whether it was desire to hear reassurance or a simple need to confide in someone, it just seemed like it would make the problem less tangible if he extracted the words from his head and turned them into air. He drew a breath.
"I wound up going to the hospital thinking I was just being paranoid and they said there was some defect in my heart causing an arrhythmia and the reason I'd felt terrible was because I'd had a heart attack but they weren't going to do anything about it because I don't have any of my medical records and I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to get medical records if my parents don't want me knowing who I am but they were saying things about a risk of another more severe heart attack and how they don't think I could withstand it in this condition but how all they could do without knowing my history was recommend some vitamins and I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do."
He exhaled and shuddered involuntarily. That definitely didn't make it any less tangible. Not even a little.

So, it was all coming out now. Yuri just stood there and listened, staying quiet for several moments. Once Luke was done though, the man closed his eyes and sighed. Yuri was no doctor, but yeah, this sounded pretty serious. But then, he'd had an idea when Luke fainted on him that one time. He knew there wasn't something right with the kid. It was part of the reason he had taken that hit from the taser. He just... knew.
The silence was then broken by the beeping of the microwave and Yuri removed the food and scooped some rice into two bowls and then topped it with the curry. He then came over and handed Luke one of the bowls, brows furrowed slightly.
"I don't know what's going on with your parents, but if you need those records, you should get them."

The sudden beep of the microwave broke Luke's rigidity and enabled him to free himself of the web of negative thoughts he'd begun weaving as soon as he opened his mouth. He accepted the bowl without much hesitation.
"It's not that easy. Things with my family are... really complicated." He pushed experimentally at the curry, allowing the steam to escape. "I mentioned my brother before - my twin brother. Luke is his name, not mine. There were a lot of circumstances around it, but basically my parents wound up replacing him with me and raising me to believe I was him." That was gleaning over a lot of details, but it was kind of a long story to tell unsolicited. "They didn't want me to know they were lying, of course, so if I went back saying I need medical records that shouldn't even exist according to them..." He wasn't really sure how they would respond.

Again Yuri silently listens, a frown on his face.
"Yeah you weren't kidding when you said you had an evil twin. I've met him." He didn't really react though at the fact that Luke's name wasn't actually his. Someone's family issues wasn't really any of his business, but he did know one thing, Luke needed those records. He needed them to get treated, and without him, his life was in danger.
"Do you really think your parents wouldn't give you the records? Shouldn't they know about this... heart defect?"

"My condolences," he said offhandedly. Encounters with Asch never seemed very pleasant.
He was silent for a time as he considered the question, his brow furrowed. "I don't know... They'll be angry, since I kind of left without saying anything, but beyond that I'm just... not sure. They were lying for seven straight years. They might just keep it up. A heart defect isn't much of a problem if you don't go running around fighting criminals or something." That was one of the biggest factors keeping him from returning to his family, the concern that they would lock the door behind him and hole him back up in that house. He wasn't sure he could tolerate going back to that kind of lifestyle.

Yuri smirked at that. "Eh, I managed. Besides, I got my sword back." That was the best part after all. For some reason the guy felt inclined to give him his sword back. Whether it was in exchange for information or what, he wasn't really sure. But eh, as long as he got it back, Yuri wasn't complaining.
His serious face went back on though as Luke started talking about his family again. Putting his bowl of curry on the table, Yuri waved a hand as he spoke. "Well as far as I see it, you've got two choice. Either you don't get the records and deal with it, or you go back to Grande Ile to get those records and get treated. S'up to you I guess."

He breathed a light sigh. "I know. I just... don't know, I guess." It was really frustrating and probably wasn't doing a whole lot for that stress factor that he was supposed to try and avoid. "I don't want to have to argue with parents over what's true or not or listen to my dad yell about things that were his fault, but I don't want to die from something I could have prevented either." He tightened his hands reflexively; 'death' wasn't a word that anyone had used while speaking of his condition nor one that he had thought about at all himself, but that was the implication, wasn't it? To say that his body wouldn't be able to withstand a second heart attack, that was to say that he would die - and that was incredibly frightening.

"Yeah, I can't blame you there."
Yuri wouldn't want to have to deal with that either, but then... Yuri had a hard time relating to Luke's situation. For one, he didn't have a family. Or if he did, he never knew them. This wasn't something that particularly bothered him, it was just what it was. And for another, he didn't have to worry about any life threatening conditions.
But dealing with difficult people he could relate with, and he had little patience for them. Luke's parents though, were seemingly the only ones that could access these records and save his life.
"So... in other words, you're afraid of what you might find out. What your parents might say."
Luke was scared, that he could definitely tell, and the kid had good reason to be.

"Well... yeah." Admitting to that fear nudged the floodgates partially open, and he set down the bowl and folded his hands tightly to steady them, drawing in a long breath and exhaling it slowly. "I guess I sort of thought that I wouldn't ever have to face up to this... Kodo feels so much like home that I never seriously thought about going back to Grande Ile." A frown. "I basically accepted that there's a ton I don't know about myself and that I'd never really figure that stuff out, and I was okay with that. It was easier like that anyway, to just say that my parents are jerks and I am who I am no matter who I was before."
He raised his palm to his forehead, "What if they don't even have the records anymore? What if they destroyed them or something?" Those records were proof that he wasn't Luke, after all. If they've fallen into the wrong hands at any time, their facade would have crumbled; it wasn't such a far-fetched worry.

Leaning his shoulder against the wall, Yuri watched Luke as he spoke. Sounded like there was a lot on his friend's mind, a lot of emotional things, and he didn't want to pry too much. Yet, it was obvious that the kid needed someone to talk to. Hell, why was he the one doing this? Where was Guy? Yuri didn't really feel like this was his place, but... oh well.
"If there's one thing I've learned, it's that running from issues usually results in them biting you in the a** later." And pretty damn hard too. A fact that Luke was obviously figuring out.
He then rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "If they're not there, they're not. Cross that bridge when you get there." Seemed pretty simple to him, but then, not everyone is as easy going as he is.

Innately, Luke felt guilty to have imposed not only with his presence but now with his problems as well. He understood that his situation had virtually nothing to do with Yuri in any capacity, but it was somewhat of a relief to externalize all the thoughts that had been stewing in the back of his mind.
He really hated the idea of running away. He thought he had already finished running some time ago and had long since started the difficult process of confronting, but indeed, here he was again, avoiding unpleasant things because it was easier than facing them. But Yuri was right: Not facing it would only come to harm him in the end. Avoiding his parents and sacrificing his records would in all likelihood lead to his death.
At length, he breathed a sigh. "I... guess," he admitted uneasily. It seemed like the kind of thing that was easier said than done, though. It was difficult, almost impossible, not to fear the possibility knowing that the possibility existed.

Welp. Yuri breathed out a sigh, not an impatient one, just... a sigh. He placed a hand on his hip, a bit unsure what to tell Luke. He was like a frightened puppy who needed someone to hold his hand, and yet didn't want it. After meeting his brother, Yuri had to wonder if this sort of thing ran in the family.
"If it'd make you feel better, maybe take someone with you?"
It was an idea, whether Luke decided it was a good one or not. There was something to be said about friends and support. It seemed that it was pretty much decided that Luke needed to go home, even though unsaid.

He lowered his hand back to the other, absently twisting the fabric of his shirt as he considered the conflict between his wishes. It was brazen enough of him to stand there talking like an idiot about things that didn't concern anyone but himself; he didn't really feel that he had any right to ask someone to come with him to a foreign country and... what? Just stand there for moral support while he argued with his parents? He shook his head slightly, "I'll go alone." Not with a friend, not even with Mieu. It would be a difficult visit. "It'll be fine... probably." Hopefully. Hope was something that was kind of important to maintain, he was beginning to understand. Hope and optimism, to the best of his abilities.

"I'm not gonna lie to you kid, it's probably gonna suck." Yuri being as blunt as ever, but this wasn't the time to gloss things over with Luke.
"But if you're going to do this, you need to hold your ground like a man. You have a lot to gain and everything to lose if you don't."
But once that was said, he cracked a smile, and clapped a hand on the boy's shoulder. "But hey, taking risks is what life's all about right? We all gotta figure that out at some point, and I have a feeling that's what you've been looking for anyway."
In some small way, that was Yuri showing respect for Luke's decision.
