The elbow hit it's mark, and he jerked back, gasping hard as he felt it clench the nerves in his body and made him feel as if he was going to throw up, but it was probably lucky that he was a General now or else some serious damage might have happened. Instead, Billy moved off of him, and he kicked the man back if he wasn't away already, and then turned quickly to right himself and kick away, gaining some vital distance.
"I don't want you holding back, Bismuthite." He wanted to know if Billy would be safe in a battle. He wanted to know how far he could go, and he wanted to help Billy survive. The best way for that was not instruction, but doing. He knew that Billy wouldn't kill him, and Ladon was sure he wouldn't do the same.

"It's important to know when to show restraint and to be in control of one's self. Lose that control and you lose the battle, even if your opponent lays dead at your feet."
There was some nerve, lecturing a general, but he was also aware of Wolframite mental state could be at times. Getting nearly choked out for waking him up a time or two gave one a pretty good idea, anyway.
"This is not a life or death fight, this is sparring. There are imaginary lines, and I draw a fine one at potentially fatal attacks, even if weren't significant to me. If I deployed such a mindset as you're asking with the lieutenants we train, they would all be spending more time in a hospital than doing work for the Negaverse."
Bismuthite had been most disturbed by the 'suggestion' that he should have blinded him. It sent a chill through him. But then again part of him also thought that it could have been just said in spur of the moment rage...

"I guess that's why I don't bother with a team. I don't think I could handle them too gently as some of the captains. I've seen enough to know what can happen to someone if they're not prepared." He didn't want a lecture. Bismuthite was here to spar, then he was here to spar. What else did he want?
"How about you shut up and fight already?" Sometimes he liked Billy when he talked, but his pretty tone could sometimes grate the wrong way.
Walking over, he found a rock nearby and then threw it at the Captain, then, as it sailed, he ran at the General and threw a punch to his face.

The rock was a distraction, any newbie would have known that, but just glancing at it gave the general enough time to get close enough that when Bismuthite darted to the side it was his chin, rather than his whole face that took the punch.
Now, standing to Wolframite's side, the captain aimed a roundhouse kick at the general's lower back.
"Leading a team might do you some good. It might teach you some of that restraint before you lose yourself to the battle lust, and it kills you."
Because he was truly concerned. He just didn't know how to go about expressing it. Now that he had some reason to, yes, his mouth was going to run. And depending on how fast Wolframite could forgive him for it, Ladon might just benifit from its better uses later.

"Unlike you, jumping in front of danger. You're too cocky! Can you even back that up?" He summoned his weapon quickly, and as Bismuthite kicked him, Wolframite whipped his chain about to tangle his other leg.
It wasn't the first time someone had called him crazy, and Zinkenite had already lectured him. The last person he wanted to hear this from was Billy, and he felt that, as his boyfriend, he should have had more faith in his capability on the battlefield. He was an assist, useful, NEEDED out in a fight. He wouldn't be a general otherwise!

The chain snagged his leg throwing him off balance, "The only time I've ever thrown my self in the path of danger was for you, General."
Yes, he so happened to be referring to that night he'd come to Wolframite's rescue - and the night he subsequently vanished.
He couldn't of avoided the chain which wrapped around his support leg as he aimed his kick at Wolframite. All he could thereafter that moment was prepare for whatever came next, and move with the chain to lessen the amount of damage he'd receive. Maybe he could use it to his advantage.
"Everything I do, in some way or another, is for you." That meant the lecturing too. He was trying to look out for his boyfriend's well being.
Bismuthite knew his limits, and yes, he talked a good game, but he also enjoyed they psychological aspects of battle. Bluffing was child's play for him. Psyching out your opponent was a fine art. Bismuthite was a talker and a thinker. Of course it was his kind of game. Sure, he was no Zinkenite when it came to strategy and analysis, but put hand in hand with his physical ability, he wasn't someone to be easily overcome.

Ladon glared daggers at the captain. He crossed a line, and one he didn't want to have pointed out. "So you're blaming ME for you getting hurt?! Is that it?!!" The pain in his chest felt like hot coals, and he tugged the chain to take away Bismuthite's support.
"I don't need your protection, Bismuthite. I don't need you feeling pity on me, and I don't need you thinking I can't take care of myself. There are PLENTY of times I've been alone, and just because we're together doesn't mean that I can't handle myself." He went for a kick.
He couldn't believe Billy would say that about his scar, about that pain, about him going to the hospital, blaming him for that, saying he caused it. He hated it because he always felt it was true. If that was the case, Bismuthite would jump into other trouble and wind up getting killed.
His eyes were starting to sting.

"I did it for myself," He shouted after having it the ground. He hadn't even really fought the fall... "I did it because I'm a selfish p***k who can't bare the thought of life without you."
It was true. Ladon was his weakness, but his love for the boy was his strength. Bismuthite rolled out of the way of the kick, but ended up tangling his one leg further in Wolframite's chain. He winced as the chain dug in tightly.
"I'm only saying these things because I want you to be the best you can be. And you can't be your best when you're a slave to yourself. I should know..."
Sometimes you had to break people down to build them back up again. Ladon had done it to him, albeit less directly... he had been broken down and beaten, left to put himself back together. At least Billy would be there to help Ladon put himself back together again. If only he'd let him. If only he'd realize...
"You're not crazy," he said, softly this time. "You just need to look inside yourself. Find all your faults, all the lies you tell yourself, and lay them in front of you. Search your soul and commit yourself to becoming the person you want to be. I've done it. I'm still working on it. I'm a happier person now than I ever was. I want the same for you. I want you to be happy."

The chain released as it was dismissed, and Wolframite looked down at the captain. "I don't want to do this anymore." He told him, walking away. "I don't want to talk about this." The surging energy of the fight that had riled him up was now muddled by the sour taste of heavier issues he just didn't feel he had the energy to invest in right now.
"I don't want to spar with you. We're done." He didn't look at Billy as he said this, walking away. "I'm going to bed."
He swallowed hard.
"Sleep on the couch tonight." He teleported out without hearing any word from the other.

Bismuthite could only hope that some of his words had gotten through to him.It would be worth it, sleeping on the couch, if it made Ladon think about things, even a little.
He waited around the rift a while until he had the energy to teleport himself out. It'd give Ladon some time alone.
It was dark when Billy finally did arrive home - teleporting directly to the couch and flopping down to stare at the ceiling. It was quiet, save for the pounding of his head (due to the blow to his temple earlier) and the growling of his stomach. He hadn't the energy to see to either, though. He fell asleep exactly where his General had told him too.

Ladon had teleported to his room and took a shower, not caring if Billy followed after and wanted to talk. He locked the door, turned the shower on full blast (screw the water bill!), and stood there until he didn't feel as sick. When he was done, he changed into a t-shirt and shorts, and noticing Billy wasn't home yet, threw Billy's pillow on the couch and then went to the bedroom to sleep.
It was dark, quiet, and he curled in the bed that always seemed to small for them but was now much bigger than he expected, just like when Billy was missing.
After it was well into the night, he woke up, breathing hard and looking around. When he felt nothing near him, he went into a panic before he sat up and noticed that he was in his bedroom and not in a cell. The window showed the other apartments and streetlamps outside. It was still dark.
His stomach hurt, but he was more tired.
Walking into the living room, he noticed the lump on the couch. Billy had made it home, and he felt relief that he hadn't been stuck in the Rift. Groggy, he walked over and watched him sleep, before he nudged him softly. "Billy, I'm tired." He shook him again, whispering despite them being the only two here.
"Billy.....come sleep with me." He couldn't sleep alone. The room was too dark, too empty. It kept him up.

To Ladon's first statement Billy just shifted and grumbled, "Then go to sleep..." as he flopped over burying his face into the back of the couch. Obviously he was well asleep by now. The boy could sleep just about anywhere, really.
But then he was shaken again and finally his pink eyes opened and he looked over his shoulder. So much for the dog house... Silently conceding, Billy stood. He hadn't even changed in to any sleep clothes and he wasn't too concerned with it. His head still freaken hurt.
"Gimme a minute. I'll be right there..."
Billy then lumbered to the bathroom where he opened up the medicine cabinet and took a couple Tylenol or...whatever cheap generic equivalent they had before wondering in to the bedroom all the while barely awake.

Ladon waited for Billy to get up to make sure, and then took his pillow before walking back into the bedroom, tossing it on Billy's side of the bed and then crawling to his side, grabbing the thin blanket they used during summer, and then laying back down. He laid there, eyes barely open as he stared at the empty spot on the bed.
When Billy came, he watched him lay down, get settled, before reaching out and taking part of the bottom hem of his shirt in his hand. Once he had that, the assurance someone was there, he closed his eyes.

Billy wrapped his arms around him and snuggled close - always the snuggle-er. It didn't matter if their little sparring match did drudge up some stuff. In the end they still needed one another.
"Love you~" he rumbled before going back to sleep, likely to not remember even waking up in the first place.
