She smiled at the dimming shadow that was him. He was kind to have done this. Her hoof grazed the coral. "It feels so strange, so beautifully strange. I can't thank you enough." She pushed her nose against it, the texture odd against her skin. "It's so lovely. Is it everywhere down there? Reefs and reefs of it?"

"In some places, yes," he said, staying as succinct as he could, so that she would not be too aware of how breathless he still was. He wanted her to feel better, not guilty.
