An arm reached for Candace - "What is your problem-"
-"Error, Fear sensors disconnected, please reconnect live sample-"
The Tech swore and fumbled with the loudly beeping machine, practicall tripping and loudly jostling the specimen stretcher just as the last belt was unstrapped tying Mitsu down.
-"Error, all readings will shut down in thirty seconds-"
Now several other panicked techs were also fiddling with the screen, yelling something about the sensors being unproperly handled, files of data being lost, how the other person was doing it wrong and pretty much everything but the kitchen sink.
Now would be the only time to escape.Inu-Mitsu - Candace left the door open, and the loud alert is enough to drag Mitsu out of her semi-conscious state, but for how long? She can attempt to make a run for it! - Roll 4d4 before running. This is the general state of damage done to Mitsu on a scale of 1 (moderate) to 4 (entirely mangled). Rp these out accordingly: the first 4 is damage to the head/neck, the second damage to the arms, third to the torso and last to the legs. - Mitsu is now trying to escape! The exit is 20 yards away. You can see it, a large hole in the wall, blue-grey skies, a blast of fresh air, freedom. It hurts, it is beyond pain, but she can do this, this is her only chance. She needs to escape now, or pretty much never. At this point, she is running on pure instinct and adrenaline. - Roll 1d4 to make a move. Subtract that as damage to her current cumulative HP. You will need to roll 4 times to get to the exit ( if you hit 0 HP you cannot move any further and collapse)!

The darkness and nothingness had been almost blissful. Peaceful. Sure she was alone but she had been alone for weeks now. She could deal with it a bit longer right? She could....deal with it forever...right? At this point Mitsu was certain she didn't have any other options, her fate was certain. This was where she was going to spend eternity, alone with only her memories to comfort her.
A sudden noise caught her attention but where it was in the void was hard to say. It sounded like it was coming from all directions. Turning her head she tried to follow it as it continued. It felt like it was getting closer, louder. Should she be worried about the noise? She was already dead wasn't she? So why did the noise make her so anxious?
Her breathing quickened as the now obvious alarm grew closer, more urgent until it was all but screaming and wailing in her ears. There was no where to run from it, no where to escape and finally...
She simply awoke. Her eyes snapped open wide, the whites bloodshot and nearly as red as her irises. As her consciousness settled in so did the pain, fresh and raw and instantly she tensed, her neck and spine craning back from the pain lifting her off the table. She couldn't see the damage but she could feel it and she only hoped it wasn't as bad as it felt.
But her arms felt like they were....free? As she had moved tensing in pain she realized her wrists were free to move but her arms felt so heavy and useless like the muscle wasn't attached to the bone. Her head free to move now she tilted it over to look and she realized...it was exactly as it felt. Her arms were fairly mangled, sliced open with bits of muscle just laying there or gone all together. They were taking her apart piece by piece like a dissecting science experiment. The horror of the realization made her want to scream but as she opened her mouth to do so her mouth fell almost slack and to one side. Most of her jaw was missing and she couldn't hide the panic she felt.
Why had she been woken up? Did they just want to see the pain on her features? The fear? It was hard to hide, her eyes spilling tears down her cheeks frantically looking around for a tech to only spot someone else....Candace....
She wanted to run. She could run couldn't she? Mitsu had no idea her legs and torso were only slightly less damaged than the rest of her but the writhing agony was so even throughout nothing gained any more attention than anything else.

"Let go of me!" Candace snapped, tensing when an error started to go off. Oh s**t. That was her fault, wasn't it? Well..good! Punish her, but Mitsu didn't deserve th--no. No. She just..she just wanted one thing to go her way. Just one thing. Had Candace had her way Mitsu would have been returned quietly in the middle of the night and no one would have known for sure about her golem. <******** was beyond angry right now. She looked Mitsu's way to find her eyes open. She was awake. Oh thank god! A glance was cast toward the techs. They were distracted.. "Atropos, can you carry her?""Of course." Atropos choked out, walking quickly to the poor ghoul on the table. Oh Jack, this poor thing. She was so glad Candace was deciding to bring her home. She had been so lovely and now look at her. "Mitsu, my name is Atropos. I'm going to get you out of here and back to Halloween, okay?" She said in a gentle voice to try and keep the no doubt distraught wolf calm. "I know you don't trust Candace but at least trust me, okay? I'm going to pick you up now..may I do that?"

Searing pain, that was Mitsu's entire world at that moment and the longer she was there the worse off she realized she was. Her arms were something close to shredded, the skin peeled back to expose the muscle underneath. Her torso wasn't far from the same treatment, neat lines having been carved down her front like they had been ready to section her off and split her open like a frog during science class. Even along her sides there were holes where they had drilled for whatever reason, taking chunks for perhaps samples and leaving a gaping wound behind.
Closing her eyes again Mitsu wished she hadn't been awakened. If they were going to pull her apart couldn't they have just left her to her dark little void? The pain was so intense, she could barely think and focusing on anything outside of the blaring alarm and the scrambling techs was hard. So hard Mitsu missed the first few things Atropos said finally tuning in around 'trust me, okay?' Her eyes had opened painfully slow to stare at the golem, seething hate creeping in between all the pain.
No...Mitsu didn't trust her. She didn't trust any of them. How could she put her faith into people....humans that were capable of disassembling her like a doll for parts? Her eyes lifted and looked just slightly beyond Atropos to Candace, those large red eyes so full of pain and agony that the mere movement of shifting her gaze set a flash of fire across the tattered skin of what remained of her jaw and throat. The ability to speak wasn't there but Mitsu locked eyes with the Hunter and the message she conveyed was very clear. 'You lied to me.'
When she finally broke her gaze Mitsu shifted from the table, somewhat rolling off it onto the floor. She found her legs really couldn't hold her, the weight of her body and the movement of falling sending a new flash of pain through her that had her silently crying out. As much as her legs hurt, despite the cuts and bruises, the tears and missing skin, she forced herself to stand her slightly less damaged arm bracing herself against the table.
Her immediate thought was to look for a weapon, something to buy her some time but as her gaze shifted to the tray of tools the lab techs had been using her eyes settled on something else. The pendant! It must have still been in her hands when they brought her here and they had taken it from her while they were taking her apart. Forgetting the need to flee, forgetting the need for a weapon, forgetting everything else Mitsu grabbed for the only thing she cared about in this jack damn place and held it close like she meant to protect it with her life.
With one last glance toward Candace Mitsu stumbled away from the table weakly trying to push it toward the Hunter to help block her path. At first she had no idea where she would go, where she COULD go. But as soon as she turned the answer was there. Just beyond a hole in the wall there was the smell of fresh air, the glint of the sky beyond the horizon, and most of all freedom. There was pain, so much pain in every little movement of her body but if she could just...make it there.

Mitsu managed to take two steps before her legs threatened to give way and her left leg buckled enough to send her sideways into a table. The table shifted and crashed into a nearby machine sending a new set of angry bleeps off. Reaching up, her hand still clutched around he pendant, Mitsu tried to cover head ears only to find one more disturbing thing...they weren't there. Instead there were only cropped nubs where they had once been rested on her head, the area sore and wet with blood.
Oh jack oh jack oh jack. She wasn't going to make it was she? Even if she did what was she going to do?! As far as she could tell she was in pieces. Literal pieces! No amount of healing would make this better, not even if she made it back to Halloween. She wasn't an undead she couldn't just pick up a new set of parts! Mitsu didn't even want to think about what Shun would think about how she looked now. She wasn't vain but this...this was....
A sudden intense pain jarred her from her spiraling thoughts and brought her back to the now. Her vision was wavering again, black speckling around the edges of it. She took another step with blind determination only to brace herself against the table again. It was so close...so very very close and yet...she wasn't going to make it.
No, she thought drunkly around the pain. She had to get out. It was die doing nothing or die trying to escape and as much as it hurt Mitsu knew she couldn't live with herself in her dark little abyss knowing she had done nothing. Knowing that she had let Shun down. So struggling to take a deep breath she pressed forward, one leg somewhat dragging behind her.

She was almost afraid to look back and see if she was being followed. Honestly it felt like hundreds of years were passing but it was only seconds as she took one painful step after the other toward the hole in the wall. Mitsu could see techs barely out of the corners of her vision, frantically troubling over their machines trying to get them back into order but how long would that occupy them? Would it even keep Candace's attention?
Fear drove her and pain only helped slow her down. Her left leg finally buckled under the strain of moving sending her to the cold tile floor of the lab. She smacked down hard, blood splattering in a circle around her. The pendant was still tightly in her grasp though and she pulled it back toward herself clutching it in her damaged fingers making sure it was still with her. Even if she couldn't make it she wasn't going to let this go. She wasn't going to drop the gift that Shun had given her. They would have to dissipate her for it.
Her senses were overwhelmed at this point and all she could smell and taste was blood, sweet and metallic. All her aching body wanted to do was curl up on the floor and give up but in spite of herself her damaged arm dragged around and pulled her forward as if refusing to give in.

Getting back to her feet hadn't been an option, her legs just refused. In all her life she never imagined the day she couldn't run. Running through the forest at Amity and along the grounds was what she enjoyed and now she couldn't even walk the twenty feet to freedom.
She dragged her way across the floor, a crimson path being left behind her. Her body was failing, her chest heaving like she couldn't get enough air. If there was a part of her body that hadn't hurt before it had certainly joined everything else now, singing in a chorus of agony.
The exit felt like it was miles away, so very far and she was beginning to believe she wasn't going to make it. She had tried though right? Would Shun be happy that she tried? Would he even know?
One more futile hand forward and Mitsu felt something different about the floor. There were cracks here that weren't the normal set up between tiles. As she weakly lifted her head she found herself at the hole in the wall, her eyes peering out into the bright blue-gray sky.
With whatever energy Mitsu had left she dragged herself the last couple of feet to where the wall ended and sat up, leaning against the rubble for support. She...she had made it. A small smile of triumph touched her lips as she looked out through the hole onto the island. Freedom, it was right before her, fresh air hitting her face with promise of something better. Even the overly bright day was welcome. Mitsu took in a deep breath, her body shuddering as she went limp against the wall her body finally giving up. She had made it and she couldn't go further.

Before Mitsu had time to react to it a pair of dark arms with purple striping were picking her up and holding her, cradling her against their chest. Should the ghoul look up she'd find herself staring into a face full of sorrow and concern; dark purple eyes, purple marks across her cheeks, thick purple hair that fell around her face and a pair of sharp black horns. "I am so proud of you." She said quietly. Proud of what? She didn't explain. "Stay still, you need your strength. We'll take you back to Halloween, okay?" Atropos kept her voice as gentle as she could though she had a natural edge to it as it was. "You can hold on to me if you like, but either way I'm okay with carrying you. You're uh...very light.." She tried to put that as delicately as possible, really. Candace was there soon after, looking behind her with a frown. "Take her to the lighthouse portal.""Yes, of course." Atropos forced a smile and stepped through the hole in the wall, cradling Mitsu protectively to her chest. "You'll be home soon. Hopefully they can heal you there. Candace is very upset, you know...please, I can understand why you would but please don't hate her. She wanted to bring you home safely without causing you any harm. This was all done behind her back.." Candace couldn't hear what Atropos was saying with how quiet she was. "She isn't as bad of a person as she makes herself out to be. She just gets...scared." Atropos couldn't look at Mitsu anymore. The sight of seeing her so mutilated was making her sick to her stomach. It was one thing to be used to fight the creatures of Halloween, it was another to see them disassembled in this way. She was so glad this hadn't been done to her. She'd gone the correct route... As much as she might have wanted to fight it she didn't have the strength anymore. Mitsu was lifted into the arms of the ghoul she had seen moments ago, her head falling back to look up at her, her vision distant as she tried to hold on to her consciousness.
Proud of her? As odd as it was those words were comforting, wrapping around her like a blanket of warmth to comfort her through the pain. It was like all her effort hadn't been for nothing. Her eyes were almost dull now as they stared up at Atropos, red tinted tears gathering in her eyes and spilling down her cheeks. Back to Halloween? They were....going to take her back home?
She couldn't stop the first painful hiccup, silent sobs wracking her body soon after. Her free hand came up to cover her mouth and the missing part of her jaw, the action of crying painful and yet relieving. Even if it was a lie for now she could pretend right? Everything was going to be okay.
The trembling and jerking of her shoulders was the only indication that Mitsu was still crying, the weapons fond words for her Hunter reaching her in an odd sort of way. There was still fear though, panic through everything as she mentioned something about healing and lifted a hand to touch the nub that was left of her ear. Healed...like this? Would she be stuck....looking like this? She was barely a werewolf anymore.
Mitsu couldn't help but hide her face against Atropos' shoulder and continue to cry not sure what she was going to do when she got home. Would she really belong there anymore?

The weapons golems experimentation was Mitsu's sole saving grace. Hunters barely gave Atropos or the werewolf hostage a passing look as they fled: by the time the techs had managed to apprehend Candace, her weapons golem was long gone.
There were few options now, but at least Mitsu would find freedom. Only two active portals, the rest was too easy.
She could finally go home. OOC feel free to tie it up/ follow up etc as much as you need, freedom is greenlighted from here!

Atropos was very grateful to have her own body for the moment. She was also thankful that despite everything Mitsu didn't struggle against her, though the silent sobbing made her heart ache. This poor ghoul..it was disgusting what they'd done to her. Wait..
..Where was her Hunter? She stopped only to look around in search for Candace, feeling a lump in her throat. Candace? Where was Candace!? Oh, Jack. She was going to be in trouble, wasn't she? So much trouble. That was the last thing she needed another ********> and this time one that could get her an actual punishment. Caelius had tried to kill her on her own promotion mission for Jack's sake! She swallowed hard and shook her head. She had to get Mitsu back. "Shhh, shh. It's okay. You're safe. You're doing so well, Mitsu. Just hold on, okay?" Atropos spoke as soothingly as she could manage despite the panic she was feeling. Candace.
Was Candace okay? Her Hunter. She needed to return to her Hunter. Atropos stopped again and looked back. No one was following them..not even her Candace. <******** going. She had to keep going. She began to sing quietly, adjusting her hold on Mitsu. "Boils and ghouls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange~?" She continued on with as much of the song as she could remember, her voice soft.
Finally she made it to the lighthouse, stopping nearby and kneeling down. She gently released Mitsu, sitting her on the ground and looking her over. "I can't go in with you..I have to stay here, with my Hunter." She didn't sound regretful. There didn't seem to be any doubt in her eyes or in her voice. Atropos' place was with Candace...and right now she was scared for that woman. She didn't want to see her hurt. "But I'll walk you to the portal, okay? Don't cry. You'll be all right. Hopefully the surge of Fear will help heal some of your wounds...Mitsu...I know you have every right not to trust me, or even believe me, but...please.." She swallowed hard, her voice strained.
"Candace is so sorry. She..she didn't intend for any of this. Her plan was to bring you here, gain your trust, and get you to agree to weaponizing. It's really not that bad, Mitsu. I love Candace. She is my everything...she's all I have, and all I need." Atropos cupped Mitsu's cheek, the one she still had. "What happened after that..none of it was what she planned or even wanted. Today? Today was the worst of all of them. She did...so many things today that she would never, ever normally do. This has been so out of character for her..." Atropos fell quiet then, her eyes looking over Mitsu's face. She was a mess and it was all Candace's fault. "You've done so well here, though. You never let go of your spirit, that little fire in you that made Candace want you...you're a good ghoul, Mitsu. Don't change, okay? Now, can you walk? I'll help you. You can lean on me." Atropos began to stand and offered her hands to assist the wolf ghoul to her feet.

Mitsu took short moments between sobs to breathe deep ragged breaths, coughing and sputtering from the blood running down her throat. Atropos was trying to sooth her, she had even tried to sing to her but that hopeless feeling had settled in deep. She was broken, incomplete, a piece of junk not worth anything more than to be taken apart. Scraps...that's what they had said. That word repeated in her head, the lab tech's indescribable face looming behind her eyelids.
She could feel Atropos stop and turn now and again but Mitsu didn't bother to look up and see why. Her head just kept falling further and further back, her eyes closed as she tried to focus on something other than the blistering pain that throbbed to life with every step. When she was finally set down Mitsu opened her eyes, eyebrows knitted as she regarded Atropos. She couldn't understand this ghoul and her need to stay behind...or maybe she could. There was love and devotion there, the same love and devotion that wanted to see Mitsu home despite how battered and messed up she was right now.
Holding up her hand Mitsu opened her fist lightly to show Atropos the pendant. She still could not speak but it was her way of showing her she had someone she cared about and loved too. Someone who was her everything and she had probably hurt him badly by being here.
As Atropos' hand cupped her undamaged cheek Mitsu closed her fist around the pendant again, leaning into the affection. She wasn't sure if she could feel sorry or horrible for the woman who had brought her here but a part of her couldn't disbelieve what Atropos was saying. Candace had treated her fairly well despite her constant attempts to attack and escape. It had never come up that this could have been an alternative...if it had Mitsu sadly might have been more inclined to agree to weaponizing...especially now that she knew..knew what the people in the lab were capable of.
And then came the real question. Could she walk? Certainly not on her own....if she got to a portal. If she managed to get home...how would she make it to where she needed to be? Staring up weakly at the hands offered to her Mitsu made an attempt to raise her arms, the pain evident on her face. She managed to take hold of Atropos' hands but her legs would not lift her, they could barely shift underneath her to bare her weight sitting down. After a moment Mitsu shook her head, pleading eyes looking up toward the set of deep purple ones. As she was now Mitsu knew she couldn't make it, there would be no hope, and healing....she would never look the same.

As Mitsu opened a hand to reveal the pendant she still clutched with desperation and loyalty Atropos answered with a soft smile and a nod. Mitsu understood where she was coming from, especially with what Atropos knew of her and Shun's relationship simply form watching Candace and the boil interact during Candace's experimental infiltration. "He misses you very much." She told her quietly, sounding very confident in her words. It was as if she actually knew for fact what she was saying. "I'm glad you understand. I'm actually kind of jealous of you. You get to hug the one you love whenever you want." Atropos chuckled and then sighed, watching Mitsu quietly with concern.
The poor ghoul looked so tired. Atropos couldn't blame her, it'd been a long few weeks for Mitsu. It didn't surprised Atropos at all when it turned out Mitsu couldn't even stand. Atropos was quick and ready to help her to the ground so the ghoul didn't simply collapse into a heap and possibly injure herself further. Oh no. This wasn't good. This was bad, very bad. There was a pained look on her face as she watched Mitsu move, realization hitting her like a brick to the chest. She couldn't walk. Would she be able to walk with the added rush of Fear upon returning to Halloween? There was no way to know for sure and Atropos couldn't just let Mitsu go like that. She didn't even have time to get the ghoul's personal possessions such as her skelephone or anything like that. Her chest felt tight as she swallowed hard. "I..I have...an idea.." Atropos' voice was barely audible. She obviously didn't like this idea. "H-hear me out, okay? What if...what if I make you dissipate?" She breathed out. Normally Atropos loved her job. She loved being a weapon, she had no issues with being used to attack her kind. She especially loved being used to attack horsemen. But the thought of doing this to Mitsu was heartbreaking; the ghoul had already been through so much. "This isn't for pain or pleasure of any kind. I...I'll do it as quickly and painlessly as I can. I just...do students still reform in the nurse's office? It's a risk but it's worth trying, I think. I can't bring myself to just dump you in there if you can't even walk but I can't go in there with you. I'msosorry." She pursed her lips, watching Mitsu with caution.

At the proposal of an idea Mitsu stared at Atropos expectantly but her solution to the problem had her eyes growing wide. Dissipate her... She was so far away would she reform where she needed to? Would she reform at all? Her body was so damaged her mind even more so.
Fear gripped her but she held tightly to the ghoul's hands. Her options were limited, mostly to dissipate or getting taken back to the lab. She didn't want to go back, she would take anything over that. Even with the possibility that she might not reform...she had to try.
She swallowed hard, blood draining from the cuts across her throat. Time was running out but she just needed to push back her fear. It would be quick. She promised. How much worse could it be compared to now.
Her hand tightened around the pendant wishing Shun was here with her. She was so scared, even more so now with the threat she might really never see him again. This might be it, this could very well be the end. Turning back toward Atropos, Mitsu looked the ghoul in the eyes and nodded. She tried to keep her face as brave as possible but fear started to creep in, her body shaking as she waited for the inevitable to happen. Her heart was already pounding in her chest, her brain telling her to flee and her body telling her she couldn't. What was it like to dissipate when you asked for it to happen?

Mitsu's fear was palpable and it tore at Atropos' heart. She was actually kind of glad it was her doing this and not Candace; let Mitsu see this face killing her inside of the face of her Hunter, give Candace some kind of redeeming quality in this ghoul's eyes...if it was possible to do so. Gently she pulled the ghoul into a warm embrace and onto her lap, tucking Mitsu's head under her chin and closing her eyes. One hand still held Mitsu's, the other lovingly petting the back of her head as one would do if..she still had hair. "I am so sorry, Mitsu." Atropos murmured into her ear, laying a sweet kiss against her shaved head. "Don't think about it. Think about Shun and how wonderful it will be to be back in his warms. His safe, loving embrace." She would try this route. Get Mitsu's mind off what was happening. "Where the light is the proper level of darkness and doesn't burn your eyes. Where the warm pumpkin in the sky is shining down upon you from the sky.."
Atropos' hand freed itself from the grip Mitsu had on it and rest on her shoulder. She closed her eyes and turned her head so her cheek was pressed against the top of Mitsu's head. "Close your eyes and think of your fondest memory. Shun explained he's your fiance? Congratulations, my dear. I bet your wedding will be amazing. And you'll have happy scarelings together, too. Will they be wolves or reapers, I wonder? Will you have one? Two? Twelve?" Her voice was teasing and amused as she listed the last one, trying to keep the atmosphere light. The hand on Mitsu's head turned so it was grasping the side of her head while the other curled itself behind Mitsu's shoulders in a firm yet comforting grip.
"I bet your friends will be happy to see you back, too. They must miss you." She chuckled. "They all love you very much, and I can see why! You're very sweet, spirited, strong. You're a powerful little ghoul, my dear. Don't ever change. You're perfect as you are." Her hand drifted to Mitsu's chin, her arm still behind her head. Atropos leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Mitsu's forehead before lifting her head away.
"And Mitsu? ...Thank you."
Both hands tightened around Mitsu and in one swift movement the hand holding her chin had moved, snapping her neck with a loud CRACK as her head turned much further than any head really should. Atropos only had one chance to make it the quick, painless death she had promised. She couldn't ******** it up. She made sure it was done properly.
