"But if you need help you know where to find me. Don't worry about Ankou ... he means well and not as strange as he looks." She smirked a little. "Most of the time. I hope I don't have that effect on people when I am fully ascended. Getting followers might prove difficult."

"That's a nice way to put it." He could not help but be amused, in spite of everything. Just slightly. The double-meaning had not gone unnoticed, but he lacked his usually willingness to pick at it.
"Eh... Kinda freaked me out." That man had been... strange. Through as Cosine went on, it was obvious Xander was getting more and more lost. "Ascend to the what now ?"

Confused mortal, she had one. Most she'd met had known about the whole gehenna, gods in gems thing. Yet here was a man who had slept through gehenna, knew only what was left behind, and still didn't quite believe she was a goddess.
"Hmm, should I start from the beginning? Might take your mind off of things, it's a long story."

Oh, great. Story time. Through... Did he have anything to do, really ? No, he had nothing better to do than to listen to the low hums of multiple bits and parts and wallow in the fact that everything he had known was gone.
No, he might as well listen. Goddess or not, he owed the woman that much, at least. "Sure, go for it."

Cosine raised an eyebrow at his tone and decided just for that she was definitely going to tell her story.
"It's hard to know where to start. The fading perhaps. A long time ago the gods were many and their influence stretched across dimensions and universes. People though took them for granted, stopped believing in their power and slowly they began to fade. Creation, the father of all collected their essence into gems. So for years I and my fellow gods were in stasis of a sort." She smirked a little. "A few years ago now I wass awakened, though, my mana was not strong enough to manafest as a full form so ... I had to take a host. As we grow stronger we evolve further growing back to what we once were. I am almost there ... Ankou is fully reborn. He's a death god I suppose. He collects the souls of the dead and guides them to the underworld. He can travel between worlds with ease and that's how he knows so much about them." She shrugged. "I think it's important to know that if you are staying here."

Some people might have found the idea of such a parasitic relationship abhorrent - and some might feel threatened themselves. After all, if it had happened to the mortal who had been Cosine's host, it could easily happen to him - or anyone, really.
But it probably helped that Xander was not exactly a peoples person - and somehow, he could not help but be fascinated. It was hard to truly grasp how something as simple as lack of belief could kill a god... if that was indeed what they were. He could not quite believe yet, no, but he seemed to be at least open to the idea.
"If that Creation guy is so powerful, why didn't he just remake you the way you once were ?" That seemed curious in itself.

If someone had walked in there and then they might have found it hard to believe that she was a goddess, just as Xander did. Here she was, tucking one foot underneath her as she got comfortable on the chair, talking with a mortal as though she were one herself. Respect was important, she believed, if you wanted someone to respect you, you had to give them equal respect.
"That is a good question." She admitted. "I have little to no memory of the time before I do not think I socialised much, being Number. Many find my existance incredibly hard to believe, even my fellow gods. I don't know a great deal about Harmodius or the extent of his power and sometimes I really do question his motives and purpose." She smirked a little and glanced over to Xander. It was easier to admit that to a mortal than one of her own. "Though, I suppose none of us are infallible."

And as strange as it seemed to be, it also seemed to be working in Cosine's favor. Xander was definitively listening, a thing he might never have bothered to do is arrogance had come into play.
"I dunno, you look like you exist just fine to me." The idea of gods for numbers was not a surprising one to him, if there were really good at all. Numbers were the founding bases of so many things.

Cosine nodded and poked her arm.
"Yup, pretty solid." She said, not that that meant anything. Ankou could fade in and out of being quite easily. She fell silent for a moment and glanced around the room they were sitting in. There would be a lot for him to learn if he was going to stick around. "The offer of a place to stay is still active if you want it. Tomorrow I will introduce you to Jessica, I was going to ask her to help you get this thing operational which might not be so relevant, but she'll be able to help you with your crew and finding a place long term." The goddess shrugged and gave him a small smile. Hopefully she could do something to help him.

"I guess I don't have much of a choice now, do I ?" He sighed. "There's really no reason to get this thing off the ground anymore, I guess..." Sure, they might have been able to - but then, where would they go ? "What still works might be useful to the other space-farers you told me about." It hurt to think about it, it really did, but right now Xander was using logic as his shield. It was the only thing that kept him from falling apart, really.
"Not Izzy, through. She'll have to be put somewhere else." He would be adamant on that, and he didn't give two ******** who told him otherwise. He was not too sure how she could be removed from Nurvus, but he would find a way.
"I'll have them woken up." He did not look forward to this, at all. But it had to be done. "They should be coherent enough by tommorow afternoon to be up and about."

"We will find a place for her." Cosine was about as sure of that as Xander, if she had to go begging she'd find a place for the rather dry humoured AI. "I will send my aoide down with some supplies, food, water that kind of thing. Zeta and Zero, they are unconventional looking but they will take care of you all. I should get back to my rooms before the children wake up."

"Right... Can't have them think their mama ran off with some strange man after all." He could not help but be a little amused at that thought. Ha. "I have much to do myself, anyway..." He had to help Izzy prepare to wake the others up. She would handle most of everything, but he would need to handle the small comforts... and the hard news.

At that Cosine gave a snort of laughter. Out of all the men she knew he was probably the least strange.
"Good luck breaking the news. I will send Zeta and Zero down with some things for you." Cosine stood and gave a nod of her head. "If you need anything more, just let them know."
