He looked around and tried to peer closer to where the voice had come from; he could almost see the little creature's eyes. Whatever it was, it was lucky; it could blend in with the night. "That's good," he breathed a smile sigh of relief. "My name's Neirin, what's yours?" It felt weird to be talking to something he couldn't see properly but if she (at least the voice sounded like a she) was comfortable talking to him like this, he wouldn't complain.

"Sahar. My name's Sahar." She said. It didn't seem like Nerin could see Sahar, or at least she thought so. He was looking in her direction... But not quite at her eyes. Almost though. She laid down and stretched her front legs as close to Nerin as she could get them. At least now the red markings on her paws would give her location away. She still wasn't sure how good of a thing that was though.

Neirin smiled slightly when she stretched out and he was able to see a set of tiny paws in front of him. He wasn't too familiar with cubs but they didn't look like the same size as a young cub. "Nice to meet you, Sahar," he replied, very slowly bending his head so he could sniff on of the tiny paws. It took a couple sniffs but he finally recognized the scent as belonging to a jackal. No wonder it could hide so easily. "I have to admit I'm kind of envious. You can blend in and I can't," he gestured to his front paws. "It probably helps you out a lot, though, doesn't it?" Not only was she small but her coat helped keep her hidden if the moonlight wasn't right.

Sahar nodded her head. Then she considered the fact that Neirin probabley didn't see her nod and spoke instead. "Yeah, I can hide easily..." She was about to say what she was intending on hiding from specifically; however she deeply worried it might offend Neirin. Here he was being kind to her, she didn't want to say anything rude. "You can probabley only hunt during the day then?" She said noticing his bright colored feet also stood out in the night. He had to do all his hunting in the day, Sahar found that inconvienent. What if he got hungry during the night? Yes, she was glad she had a dark colored pelt.

CaliWolfe I like your latest post on the other rp as a stopping point for it. Do you want to continue it, though, with their exploration or let it be? "Yeah," he replied with a sigh and laid down on his side. "I try to hunt at night but everything always gets scared off because they can see me." He kept his eyes on the small pair of paws since that was the only way he could see her. "You probably have it rough during the day though. Doesn't the dark pelt make it hotter when the sun is high?" That was the only reason he was thankful he had a light colored coat. When the sun was blazing its brightest, his orange pelt not only blended in, but also stayed relatively cool.

LexThetaSigma We could stop it and do a new rp about their exploration? Or just stop all together, either one works for me. She thought about it. "I usually stay in the shade when it's hot out." Of course shade could not keep Sahar cool forever. Most of the time she'd go find an abandon den and stay there until it became more bareable to go outside. "But there's always advantages to having a dark pelt, such as hiding." She said. "I'm sure there's advantages to having light fur too." She continued, thinking up other reasons besides the lack of heat that Neirin had advantages in.

CaliWolfe Alright, we'll just call that one done and start a new one with their exploration Neirin nodded slightly and let out a yawn. "That's true. During the day, sometimes I can blend in really well with the grass. Sort of like you now." He continued watching her and wished he could see more than just the pair of paws. "Why are you hiding, anyway? Was there something chasing you?" As far as he was aware, it was only the pair of them in the grass. Unless there was something else with a dark pelt that he couldn't see.

lexthetasigma now the only question is which one of us should start it? "I was... Hiding from... Well, you really..." she said honestly. He'd probably want an explanation for that. "I've never really actually talk to a lion much before... unless he counted cubs. She had countless encounters with cubs before.

CaliWolfe No idea. Whoever feels like, I guess? Neirin looked down slightly. He hadn't meant to scare her like that. "Oh," he used one of his back paws to scratch his ear slightly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." he apologized. When she mentioned that she never talked to many lions before, he got curious. There were many of them out in the rogue lands. He wondered what had kept her away from them. "Really? Why not?"

The little jackal had to think about the best way to convey this... She finally decided that it started because of when she was a little pup. "My parents always told me that Lions and Cheetah's were dangerous." One could suppose it was because she was a mere pup at the time that they said such things, however the situation was more... Complex than at first glance. Sahar's parents, even when she was close to adulthood pushed for her to avoid them. As if they were monsters or demons of some kind. Sahar had never really believed them, until the day her mother came back home with a scratched up face. It had to have been then that she really started obeying and left cautious of whom she talked to... Sahar relalized she had spaced out when she heard Neirin say something, she quickly snapped back into reality. "Ah, sorry about that? What did you say?"

As Sahar explained some of what had caused her fear of lions, Neirin listened intently. Of course when your parents insisted something was dangerous, you would avoid it at all cost. "Well, some of them are," he replied, "but some of them are nice. We only hunt want we need instead of attacking everything we see." "I'd assume all jackals aren't like you either. Some of them are probably dangerous." Though more so to their prey than the bigger species. Though he was sure if one of them tried to sink their teeth in hard enough, it would hurt pretty bad. He looked at her curiously when she seemed to come out of a small daze. He grinned slightly at her. "I'm not so bad, am I?" he considered that comment for a moment. "Now that you met me, without the terror from earlier?"

LexThetaSigma Here you go! Took longer to type than I thought it would... sweatdrop No, Neirin wasn't bad at all. He was kind and generous to others he hadn't even met. In other words the complete opposite of what Sahar's parent's thought of lions... "Your a nice person." She said. She crawled a little closer to Neirin so she could see him better through the grass.

Neirin grinned as she walked closer to him and at the slight compliment. "Thanks, so are you." Maybe with his attitude with her would help her not be so shy around others of his species. Though some of her cautiousness would be good to keep her away from the ones that weren't like him and would hurt her.

Sahar looked at Neirin's face intently, studying what it looked like exactly. This might have been one of the only time's she'd be able to be so up close and personal to a lion's face, without getting eaten! Although she was pretty sure lion's didn't eat jackals, she was slightly cautious about it. She was curious of Neirin. A lion like him, what was he doing out in the night anyways? Not a lot of lions were out in the night, nevertheless the rogue lands. "Where'd you come from?" She asked.

Neirin rolled onto his back and stretched out a little while looking up at the stars. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath; he exhaled as he smiled, feeling calm again. When he opened his eyes, he found the tiny jackal staring at him. And then she was asking where he had come from. "No where really. I've been out here ever since I was a cub." he replied with a small smile. "How about you?"
