Amrita smiled at his ideas; they were nice, really nice, but...she didn't know where she belonged. She didn't know where she would live after her time at school was over; she didn't know if the Vetala were still in that old graveyard or if they had migrated yet. They had to have moved by now, they never did stay in the same graveyard for longer than ten years.
"I hope so too." She decided at length, a small smile on her lips. "Maybe I'll even find a house near a lake! When I was really little, like...really little, we used to live in a graveyard that was beside a lake." It was a rare piece of information that she shared on her homelife, but it was something she thought he might like. "Maybe I could make a home there?" She suggested thoughtfully, though really...she didn't know what would happen after graduation. If she would even make it to graduation.
Idly, she imagined what her life might be like after school. Would she share it with Christof? Would they have a home near a lake, attached to a beautifully horrific laboratory with a nice little graveyard out back? The idea had it's appeals, and she found herself blushing despite herself.

Calder perked up a bit, liking these ideas of the future. "You have to live near me. Tell Christof. He'll be working with Barth, and...I'm sure Barth wanted me to live with him." He hoped. They hadn't really talked in depth about the arrangement, but Barth had said he wanted Calder to be with him after graduation. Surely that meant they'd live together. Maybe make a family? He never even talked to Barth about scarlings. Oh Jack! What if he didn't want scarlings!!!
Already doubt and fear rushed in, and he closed his mouth tight to stop any escaping whine before he looked back at Amrita. "I'll ask Barth that we need a lake, and you can live next door or even with us. We can all live together." He liked the idea of them all safe and sound under one roof. "You can have little scarlings with me." Again, he wasn't sure any of this would come true, but right now he wanted to escape into a fantasy where everything was happy and safe.

Tell Christof?! The idea made her blush darken. S-she'd only just imagined a life after Graduation with him! How could she tell him that? She couldn't, that's how! Besides, Christof was kind of a loner at the best of times! What if he didn't want someone living with him? Even his own ghoulfriend? She wasn't a Mistress-type by any means and he knew it...so what would happen to them after graduation, when they didn't live in the same general building?
Now she was curious, but said nothing out loud to Calder's insisting.
That was, of course, until he brought up a certain subject.
"I don't want scarelings." Amrita said almost too fast, and with a near perfect pokerface.

Surprise and shock flashed across his face as his ears shot up and his eyes went wide. "Wha- What do you mean you don't want scarlngs? But - You'd make cute scarelings! Don't you just want one? Just a little one?" He tried to make it sound as if she was indulging in taking a little cookie, and not the responsibility of her own child.
Pouting and looking sad, he tried to rationalize why ANYONE would not want a scarling. "Who will my scarlings play with?" While not as upset as before, he still seemed saddened by the idea. "We won't get to do play dates together." Now he was getting back to being depressed.

Oh, whoops, all of her progress with Calder apparenty just made it to a screaming halt!
"I-I mean I think I wanted to, when I was little but...but they're not little forever and they grow up and ----" And had to go to school, maybe get attacked on a regular basis and one day might die, be weaponized or watch someone turn. None of this she said of course, finding herself smart enough to trail of instead of elaborate any further.
She wasn't taking your cookie, Calder.
To the rest of his inquiries and the attempts to likely guilt her into changing her mind on putting her FEAR in a pumpkin, she merely stared at him. Then, finally, with all the innocence in the world, suggested: "...Me?"
Somehow, she was starting to feel bad for her choice, but no. Right now, she didn't want one. She would rather stop existing than make and bring a scareling into this world.
"I...I like playing with them! I-I just...don't want one."

Her perked up a bit at this, and then clasped her hands, holding them up as they laid together and smiled. "You'll be my scarlings' wicked godmother. I'm gonna have lots. I haven't told Barth, but I'm sure he wants lots too." He thought about it, concentrating, before nodding. "I'm thinking 6." He paused again, then nodded. "Yes, 6 for now. I hope they get Barth's horns. Won't that be cute?" Calder was distracted by his current sore wounds and bad rejection from his clan by thoughts of the pitter patter, or maybe the slow scrapping of little hooves and claws. A whole little cuddle pile of cute sloths and kelpies.
"Maybe Barth can invent scarling things for me. I'm sure him and Christof will be working hard." And then he wondered, aside from having scarlings, what he would do. His grip loosened as he held Amrita's hands, before he released them. "I don't............know what I'd do." Again, his emotional rollercoaster had went up to falling back down. Uncertainty was just around this bend.

"I would love that!" Being a Wicked Godmother? That was...such an honor! Plus it let her play with the scarelings she simply refused to have; she'd try her best to not get them riled up before sending them back, though. She could at least do that for her dear friend.
She saw the emotions come back and was quick to lean in to nuzzle him, smiling as reassuring as she could. "You'd be the best Daddy ever. Raise them good and right. They'll be the best scarelings the scaring world has ever seen!" They were still talking about scarelings, right? Hopefully they were. Even though he released her hands she took his up again, rubbing her backward thumb across his skin as gently as she could manage.
"And you'll keep our little family together, like you always have. Make sure we stay in line, or that Barth and Christof don't go overboard and accidentally blow everything up." That last part was clearly the most important. Clearly.

For now, just thinking about being a Daddy seemed well enough of a job to think about in the future, but it felt time was rushing by. Was there a job to just protect? Was there a career that he could use to keep his family and his friends safe? Where did he fit in? What did he look forward to to help out? To excel in? Was just being a Daddy enough?
He gave a weak nod, not really sure. "I will, as best I can. I just wish I could do more. After graduation." But even now.
His attention went to her, and he whispered. "What will you be?" If she didn't want scarlings, what did she want? He wanted to know, and wanted to help.

"It's a good place to start." Amrita decided with a nod. "We still have time to figure it out." A lot of time, or so she kept telling herself. It was a blind optimism that she was slowly losing belief in, but she was still clinging to whatever fibres of it remained. Where was she if she didn't have her optimism? Buried in a crypt somewhere, most likely.
When he whispered to her, Amrita's eyes lidded as if looking down, but really she was trying to find an answer to that question. What would she be, beyond graduation? She hadn't thought that far; after all, it was only moments prior that she even considered she had a life after this, with her boilfriend and friends. His soft question nagged at her; What will you be? Herself, she hoped; but the herself before the tagging. She didn't know who she was anymore, the parasite on her core messed with her perceptions; she didn't know what was her doing or theirs.
She couldn't be honest about that, not right now, not when he'd finally calmed down.
"Hmm." She said finally, lifting her gaze to meet his. "Maybe...a Crypt Keeper? I could tell all the Tales to the little scarelings~" She had seen a few old Crypt Keepers telling Tales in her life, with their heavy and dusty tomes in cobweb infested seating areas...she loved them. "Or...maybe you and I could run a Minipet store together?" Minipets; her second love.

Calder smiled. "Those all sound like great ideas." Ideas that Amrita had. None singed to him, but they all sounded nice. Nice because Amrita included him, and she was thinking of him. Still, was it right to ride on her dreams and future?
"I thought a while back I might be a Boogeyman, because there doesn't seem to be any good ones and they should be on our side." He paused a moment. "Then I thought of just cooking for Barth, but I guess I'll be doing that anyways now." Calder liked cooking for Barth. He never seemed unhappy about what Calder would make for him. "Then I also thought I'd kinda want to dress people up or play with their hair, but I wanted to do something bigger." Which left him smiling and then frowning again. "I just don't know." It was frustrating that nothing was calling to him. Shouldn't these decisions come to him by now seeing as he was in his third year? Why was it this hard??!!
Whining, he nuzzled back into the undead. "Life is hard. We should all go on vacation." He groaned into her chest.
