Grinsen glanced over at the watering hole again as he heard a loud noise. It seemed the hippos were in on the fun now as well, splashing the zebra herd that remained on the shore. He tilted his head in amusement as he watched before glancing back to Dimu. Oh, more questions. He liked this game.

"I've poked my nose into a few prides here and there, but so many of them are just...not my style," he said with a little grimace. There had been prides that consisted of dominating males, vampires, demons, diseased members...really, there didn't seem to be any normal prides for him to ease his way in to. They were all hidden away to keep out the crazies, he supposed. "Kinda freaky if you ask me. I'm more content to roam the lands then settle for somethin' I'm not gonna enjoy. I wanna find a pride that's...relaxed. Fun. Good place to meet people and make friends. As much as I like bein' a rouge, it gets pretty lonely."

That was his only hang up on his life alone. He really was a lion-lion, meaning he thrived off being around others of his kind. When he walked for days without so much as a cub in sight, it began to eat away at him. "So I'm doin' what I've been doin' my whole life. Walkin', hopin' to find a place to call home. What about you? You said somethin' about some prides before...but you're out here on your own now? Lookin' for a new place?"

Grinsen was surprised at how many prides Dimu had heard of and had been a part of. He nodded slightly at a few of them, having run into some lions and other felines from those prides as well. They had also not been his idea of a good time. Living among slightly insane lions was not his idea of a good time.

"I've caught wind of talk of this cheetah racing pride...not sure if there's anything to speak about just yet, but it seems like a really chill idea. I have no idea where it's gonna happen if it does, but I figure if I run into it, I'll give it a look." Really, what could be better than watching races all day? He'd love to get in on that as long as there were no crazy rules to follow. Like lions were sub-species...gods, he hated when there was discrimination.

"But, for now...roamin' the rouge lands," he said again with a content sigh. "There's plenty of food and water out here, so why not? Plus, you get to meet all kindsa interestin' people...not to mention gorgeous." Oh yes, back to the flirts. He flashed her a little grin again before leaning back against the trunk of the tree a bit. "You're makin' me like the idea of cubs with all this talk of 'em. It'd be pretty sweet to have a couple little guys runnin' around under my feet, I suppose. You seem like you're a great mom," he added with a wink. "Got that caring, kind air about you."

Grinsen nodded sympathetically as Dimu spoke about her cubs. He could only imagine what raising them on his own would be like. He'd certainly need a lioness around to make sure they were properly taken care of, from discipline to manners. He had no problems telling other people no, but he got the impression that if he had his own kids they'd be walking all over him.

"Poor kids. I dunno why everyone's so uppity about crossbreeding," he said with a slight roll of his eyes. "Hyenas are better than leopards, lions are better than wild dogs...we're all animals, right? An elephant could sit on all of us and not know what he squashed." To him, it was all quite silly, and knowing Dimu felt the same way was...well. Just another thing to check off on his good list.

"And hey, better to be full of compliments than something else less desirable," Grin added with a laugh. "But if it's layin' it on too much, I can stop. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable." Flustered was nice, but there was such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Grin nodded slightly, although he knew he had had his fair share of not being quite as nice as he was being right now. He had tricked one lion into practicing his flirting on a huge wildebeest, smooth-talked his way out of hunting to get some younger lions to do it, and generally been a not very nice guy. He had matured as he had aged, though, and although he still liked to tease, he wasn't as quick to get a laugh at someone else's expense. He had also noticed he was growing rather dorky in his years, which was something he was not terribly excited about.

"Oh, I don't know much about it yet," he said with a shake of his head. "All I know is the cheetahs in the pride are kind of like celebrities...they do all the racing after all. There's a winner every year after all the races and they're treated like kings. The other felines take up other roles, but other than the 'ooh-ahh' factor of the cheetahs, no one is above or below anyone else." That was all he knew so far, just from word of mouth. But in his book, any pride that focused on racing (that he didn't have to race in) was pretty sweet.

"I'm sure such a young pride could use a maternal lady like yourself," he said with a little smile, leaning in just a bit to wink at her. "Especially with your hunting skills. I heard a bit about breeding the winners to get faster cubs, so I'm sure there'll be lots of kids around if you don't end up having any yourself."

A nod and a smile were Grin's answer to Dimu's rhetorical question. Yes, he could see her up to her ears in cubs and completely happy. And maybe even a few of those might look a bit like him...

But that was getting ahead of himself. Before he went around propositioning her, he wanted to make sure he wasn't going to make her bored to tears or end up not liking him. They seemed to be off to a good start, but who knew? Maybe his dorky, somewhat old-fashioned attitude would rub her the wrong way after a few days. There was a way to see if that would be the case, of course.

"I don't mind at all," he said with an easy chuckle. "In fact, I would be honored if you came with me. What could be better than having a lovely lady like yourself as an escort through the rouge lands? That is, of course, if you'd like to set out for the pride now with me. I haven't a clue where it is, so we'd need to ask anyone we happened to find. With such a sweet disposition like yours I'm sure we'd get some answers out of passers by fairly quickly. And we might even be able to taste that wildebeest sooner rather than later."

Oh, this was looking perfect. And, if she ended up taking a liking to him, maybe he'd try his paw at raising cubs. With a second-time mother like her, he doubted he'd have many problems. She obviously knew what to do.

Grin couldn't believe his luck. He was about to set off to find this dream pride with a gorgeous lioness at his side. She seemed pretty content around him...if it kept up, his luck might even improve even more and he'd be the lion to help her with that family. Even just from the small talk they had had now, she had managed to change his view on cubs quite a bit. Before he thought of them as annoying and loud. Now...well. Now the thought of having something of his own like that was kind of...magical. Urk, that was kind of a bad word for it.

"Perfect," he said as he stood and gave himself another shake. "Then off we go! I've never had a traveling partner before. This will be great." He gave his tail a little flick before nodding his head in the direction they'd be traveling. "This way, m'dear," he purred before heading off, confident she'd follow.
