Things weren't exactly going the way Rio had planned them to, either, at least to the extent that he actually planned anything. He was mostly vague notions, overarching ideas with no set course to reach his goals. Things happened when they happened, and he went with them, used the moments that came to him.
It was not a shock to hear Leo say those words, because he knew, of course he knew, but that did not lessen the weight or the meaning of them. And it reminded him why he was content, and why it had never really mattered before that he be known for what he was. Why it still didn't matter, and should never matter, not more than it had to for the simple sake of his survival. He had love, and that was what he wanted - not adoration, not worship, but love.
"Of course I wouldn't leave you. I would never leave you. Even if you wanted to stay, I'd figure something out, because I love you, too." He paused, breathed. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Leo did not say anything else right away, just tugged Love close and kissed him deeply. They would probably stay that way for a while, until there was a need to breathe anyway. His cheeks were a bit flushed but he was happy rather than embarrassed. "Would it help you if we went elsewhere in the city for a bit?"

Rio held on even after the kiss had ended, reluctant to let the moment go, but Leo's suggestion was a welcome one, and a quiet flutter of nosie reminded him why they'd come. "That...would help, yes. Although we should probably let our little friends go, first."

"Yes, we should...they have been quite patient after all." Leo finally let Rio go and knelt to open the cage, coaxing one of the doves onto his hand. Once the bird was free of the cage it sprang into the air and flew toward the opening in the roof. The second dove joined it soon after. "We can leave the cage here, they get used when sick or injured doves need to be looked after."
He stood and slid an arm around Rio's waist again. "So, where else did you want to go?"

Leaning against his companion, the god made a thoughtful sound. "Besides everywhere?" He chuckled. He wasn't as bad as he'd heard Adi had been in Darnassus, but he was definitely indecisive. "Maybe we could go back for a bit? I'm a little tired."

"Alright, that works." They walked together out of the temple, Leo's arm never leaving Love's waist. "I do believe I promised the fosterlings a class today, if they behaved. I should probably make good on that promise since I have not heard otherwise." It could certainly wait until after a bit of a rest though.

"Yes, you probably should," Rio agreed, "Or they'll be terribly disappointed. Children have an unerringly long memory for promises." He knew that very, very well. Once something was a promise, it took on extra importance.

He nodded, not doubting that in the lease bit. "You are welcome to sit in on the class if you like. It is usually quite entertaining." The children certainly would not mind, Rio be the first patron to sit and watch but certainly not the first guest in the class.

"I'd like that very much." Children were pretty much always entertaining, including when they were learning things. "Adi was priceless when we tried to teach her how to dance, since...well, the paws and all."

"That would certainly complicate things." Until you got used to the balance at least. "Émile prefers music to dancing, I think." It seemed a bit of a shame to Leo, but music did seem to suit the boy's nature better. "Though he does like to come to class, if only to spend time with the other children."

"Perhaps he would like to meet Echo, then," Rio suggested, smiling at the very thought. There could certainly be no better teacher than Music herself. "Assuming he decides to come with us." Leo had made it quite clear that he would be returning to the Pantheon, after all, but his son was one thing Love would rather not take him from if at all possible.

"I would not doubt that." Echo would probably like the little boy too. "Guess I should probably have that talk with him then, hn?" The conversation that he had no idea where to start. He did not know exactly who Émile's mother was, or why she had done what she had. Though, honestly, he was probably over thinking all of this.

"Yes, you should. Not that it needs to be today, but...soon." He squeezed Leo's hand and gave him an encouraging smile. "He's young yet, and hopefully that will make it a little easier. And he obviously loves you already." The way he'd clung to Leo as soon as he appeared had made that quite clear.

"I hope so." Leo squeezed Rio's hand in return. "I love him too." If Émile did decide to go with them, hopefully between Rio and himself they could make up for the mother the boy would probably never know.

"And there are plenty of other children around, too...and unicorns, and flooxes, and a whole world of amazing things. It will take some getting used to, but I'd be surprised if he didn't like it." And Shy, Ishkha, and Nashwa would be delighted to have a child around again to spoil.
