Xander gave a quick smile at Alice for her answer before turning his attention to Angie. "I really hope that wasn't the case." He winced at her wording then eyes Semadar. He didn't think his pokemon would do that but then again he must have done something to get his baby.

He looked back up when he was addressed again and gave a smile. "Yeah. Thankfully she's a healthy baby from what I can tell." He shifted his arms a little bit so the woman could get a better look at the tiny Zubat if she wanted.

Semadar responded to the shifting by wrapping his wings around his baby and giving a squeak of protest.

Genesis sighed as she firmly pressed her face to the pillow, so so very glad they were out of that temple and back on the ship. Before long, they would be home again, and although their time on the island was but a fraction of the time it had taken for the sea trip itself, she was more than glad to leave it.

Beside her, Erebos rested. Although Genesis had given him all of her remaining berries, he was still tired from the prolonged battles they had faced during the single day they’d spent on the island. He allowed himself to lie down, but otherwise remained as alert as ever, eyes and ears focused on the door to check for any danger that may approach.

It was at this moment that both he and Genesis felt a strange motion and heard a worrisome sound. The former was a slight rocking and, while that was to be expected on a ship, it was too small to have been caused by churning waters below. The latter was the noise of chips and cracks, and it was this that drew both of their attention towards the egg they had been given earlier on the ship.

Genesis moved it onto the pillow quickly and watched eagerly, her eyes shining with curiosity. She had never seen an egg hatch before, and she had wanted to know what would come out of it as soon as she’d seen it. (It looked similar to Erebos, she had to admit – at least when it came to markings – but he wasn’t the affectionate type, and the colors were entirely off. To be frank, she didn’t think it was his egg at all, but she’d accepted when the people in charge of the Daycare claimed it was hers. She wouldn’t give up an opportunity for a free Pokémon when it was literally handed to her, after all.)

Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait long. After a particularly loud crack, a dark, small form tumbled out. It took a moment for her to realize what it was, but then—

You’re a dad, Ere!” she exclaimed, pleasantly surprised. There was no mistaking the markings on this pooch – it looked just like its father’s.

Excited to show Doyle, she let it adjust to its sudden introduction to the world before scooping it up gently and leaving to go in search of him.

Keria moved closer to some of the trainers that where gathering around chatting. "I think it's going to be a guessing game of what come out of them. My egg looked just like Voltron here." she gestured to the emolga on her shoulder. "It had his markings and colors, but it hatched into this cutie.” She petted the baby pachirisu that was in her arms, being careful not to drop it. “It kind of make me wonder if the eggs where painted or something, I hope they weren’t though, I have no idea what painting would do to the baby."

Voltron looked around the room cautiously if there were any villainous afoot he would take care of them before the harmed the babies!

The newly hatched patchi sniffed curiously as they headed into the daycare she was surprised to see that there were a lot of the things that looked the thing that was carrying her, which according to daddy was a human, there were also a lot of things that didn’t look like anything she’d seen on the way here.

Doyle listened to the others talk about their eggs and saw that some had already hatched or were close to hatching. "Mine certainly looks like it could be Ark's..... It would be cool to have another Zorua." He said to no one in particular. His egg gave a rather violent shake and began to crack. Soon an orange and black leg popped out followed by another. "Uh....." Was all Doyle got out before the rest appeared. As the egg pieces fell to the ground Doyle was left with a tiger striped Growlithe in his hands. It was much smaller than a normal growlithe, it looked like it was a runt of a litter.

"Ark.... is there something I missed while you were in the Daycare?" He asked. The growlithe could have been a mix up but she had Ark's eyes and he didn't think that was just a coincidence. He looked down at his Zorua and his eyes widened. He certainly wasn't expecting Ark's reaction to the small growlithe. Ark was glaring at the growlithe in his arms and steadily growling at it. "Down Ark...." But that wasn't happening, in fact it seemed to make it worse. So he sighed and recalled Ark into her pokeball. "Now what to do with you. If Ark keeps acting like this I can't keep you. Hm....." He muttered to himself.

<"Thank you,"> Sentry said. She did smile, but it was small and brief. <"I'm sure whatever qualities a Warden has, you exhibit them as well.">

She of course watched the approaching bird. It looked somewhat ungainly like that, she though to herself. She had not seen bird often, as she stayed mostly inside the temple, but they looked more graceful in the sky. Regardless, he had asked a civil enough question. <"We are guarding the room,"> she informed him. <"Our Trainers are inside, along with some other humans, and we will not allow any harm to come to them.">

Lyle was looking around the room at the various pokemon and eggs people were carrying. It looked like some eggs had hatched already. As he watched, one more hatched in the room. He watched curiously as she shell cracked and the pokemon emerged. "Cool!" he said. "So a lot of eggs are hatching now? I wonder if mine will hatch soon."

As if in answer, the purple egg in his arms wiggled a bit. "Hey, it moved!" he said in surprise. Spinel quickly climbed up only Lyle's shoulder so he could watch the egg closely.

"What was that about?" Genesis directed towards Doyle as she came in, a brow quirked questioningly and a worried frown on her lips. She had reached the Daycare just in time to see Ark growling at the Growlithe before she was recalled, but that couldn't be right, could it? Although she had only seen the Growlithe for a short time, she could already see the eyes had a startling resemblance to Ark, and its feet had her stripes, too. Surely, it was her pup?

Erebos didn't express the same worries his trainer did. He had seen mothers reject their children for one reason or another numerous times in the wild. That it should happen with the humans, too, was no surprise to him. It only meant that the pup would have a greater chance of survival.

He was glad for it, however. He and Ark had yet to reconcile, and he had no desire to see her.

Doyle looked up when Genesis spoke to him. "I have no clue. I've never seen her act like that before." He replied, "I know she doesn't much care for Growlithes or Arcanines but I didn't know that it was this bad..... although I can't imagine if it was this bad that she would hook up with a Growlithe or Arcanine to produce an egg of one."

He looked down at the pup who was staring intently at Erebos. "...... I just don't know. I'll have to see if Ark warms up to her. If not...... if not I'll have to give her to someone or release her." He hadn't checked to make sure the pup was female but something about the pup made him think female instead of male. Of course he'd have to think of a name since he couldn't just call the pup 'her' or 'the pup'.

He felt the pup wiggle and set her down on the ground. She took a few wobbly steps and then stopped before Erebos. She plopped her butt down and just stared up at him.

Genesis' frown deepened in response, but she didn't say anything. She realized such a thing could happen, but she didn't understand why it did now. She only hoped Ark would come around.

"It won't come to that," she said when Doyle spoke of releasing it, her voice filled with certainty. She didn't think she would be able to take it since her Pokémon worked with Ark often, but she could if she had to. She'd figure something out.

Crouching down, she watched the young pup and put her own Poochyena down, her expression giving way to a smile.

"I never thought they'd have pups," she commented, her cheer marred by Ark's surprising behavior, but still there. She wondered who had been the other parent but, quite frankly, didn't really care to look around to see if she could spot another Pokémon that could fit the part. Her eyes were glued to the two small creatures before her.

Poochyena stood unsteadily on her short feet, bewildered by the sudden change of setting and the number of living beings surrounding her. She gave a half-scared, half-curious little thing of a bark before shrinking back towards Genesis and Erebos' familiar faces.

Erebos didn't pay much attention to the young children. Parental concern had never once left any mark in his mind, and it did not do so now. Rather, he focused on the rest of the room, ears always moving to catch snippets of sounds.

"I hope not. It would be nice to have another pokemon.... but then again I've never had to deal with a fire type before." Doyle replied with a sigh, "Guess I'll have to ask Alexa for some advice." He looked at Gen's pup and frowned. The poochyena looked just like Erebos in markings at least. "Same here. And we can't really deny that they are theirs. This pup has Ark's eyes and yours looks just like Erebos." He sighed again, "I can't keep calling her pup. She needs a name at least."

Growlithe looked at the Poochyena for a moment interested in the other pup. It looked just like the big guy in front of her however it was a mini version. She would have approached the pup but it was slightly bigger than her and bigger things besides the thing that had held her when she hatched and the thing before her scared her. Naturally she scooted closer to Erebos and kept her ears and tail down.

Seeing Erebos focus on the room and keep an eye and ear open for anything made her copy him. She started off slouched with her ears down trying to listen to things. However none of the noised made sense to her. Her eyes darted around the room taking in the somewhat blurry sights. Things further away were harder to see right now. However she looked up at Erebos and noted his posture and saw she looked nothing like him. So she sat up straighter and tried putting her ears up to look more attentive.

"It just means smores whenever you want," Genesis said, rising to pat Doyle's arm reassuringly. "And your house burning down, but you'll live!"

Feeling no threat, Poochyena allowed herself to unglue herself from Genesis' ankle and went over to Doyle's shoes first, and then to the Growlithe, as they were both new objects and, thus, worthy of her curiosity. With each new step she grew bolder, so that by the time she had reached her fellow pup-mate, she thrust her nose brazenly into her face and proceeded to busy her senses with the Growlithe.

Erebos looked down when he saw the Growlithe imitating him, then up towards Genesis. It didn't seem as if she wanted him to do anything with the pup and so, with a final downward glance at the two, he again ignored them.

Doyle shook his head. "The smores would be nice. As for the house burning down.... good thing I don't have one." He said. He glanced down when the Poochyena came over to him and would have petted her but she had moved on. "Did you come up with a name for your pup?"

Growlithe didn't notice the glances Erebos had sent her way as she was too busy with Poochyena in her face. She wasn't sure what to do with the slightly bigger pup and backed up some into Erebos. Her ears when down again and she looked up at him for guidance. Seeing none she decided to make like Erebos and ignore the other pup. Her eyes quickly looked somewhere else and she steadily looked there.

"Your camp, then," Genesis amended. Then, with a contemplative tone, "Not yet."

Poochyena had not been out of her egg long, but during the short time since she had stepped paw out of it, she had always been given attention -- at least initially. That this Growlithe would deny it to her was treason of the highest order. It wasn't as if the Growlithe was incapable of it, as a pillow had been.

Thinking herself insulted and desirous of righting her wrongs, she immediately stepped up to the offending pup and, with a growl more burbling than ferocious, tugged on her ear.

Erebos merely stepped aside when he felt the pups bumbling about his legs, as disinterested as ever. He heard the growl and other sounds of fighting, but he found no reason to worry. He fought often, after all, and they might as well settle on a hierarchy while they were still young.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 14, 2012 8:07 pm

"Yeah it would be bad if my camp caught on fire." Doyle said, "So we're both in need of names. Mine has to be a name that starts with the letter 'a'." He didn't explain why it must be an 'A' letter name.

Growlithe tried to back up to Erebos again trying to seek some comfort from him. But he had moved to the side and the other pup had her ear. She whined softly and looked anywhere else but the pup. She was after all following what the big thing was doing. She didn't know why this bigger pup was suddenly making noises at her and biting her ear.

Doyle didn't ask and Genesis didn't question. She had long ago noticed his Pokémon's nicknames had started with the same letter and had even once teased him about it.

She was about to respond with another joking "Ark the Second" when a growl below snatched her attention. At first she grew alarmed, but then she remembered that it wasn't uncommon for pups to fight and it was best to let them do so to let them train and have fun at the same time early on -- unless it was serious, of course.

She was still worried, but she let it go with a sigh. She wouldn't do anything unless Doyle did, she supposed.

Poochyena, not the least deterred, matched each of the Growlithe's steps with her own, so that her opponent neither got away or came too close.
