anneadeline catz_rocks Ok, I have a slight dislike for Aly already. She seems to be wasting the oppurtunites that her mother would have longed to have. I just finished it (for the second time) and I felt the same thing near the beginning. At the end, I changed my mind though, so you should try to finish and see what you think then. I think you also have to keep in mind that Aly was a noble lady, and a teenager. She did want to participate in more serious activities - read, spying - but that was denied her. Furthermore, had she the inclination to go for the knighthood, not only would she have to put up with all the crap Kel did, but she'd also be compared to Alanna at every turn. Which is a hard reputation to live up to. Especially since Aly is so different from her mother - which is not necessarily a bad thing. Aly also can't train to be a mage, because she only has the Sight, though it is very powerful. All this leaves Aly as a teenage noblewoman, who is not particularly interested in marriage, with nothing to do. So she becomes flighty and shallow. If you think about it, there's nothing else for her to do. She simply does not have the temperment to be a knight. She has a career interest, but isn't allowed to pursue it. When she is forced to pursue it in the books, she matures so rapidly, one wonders just how flighty she was in the first place. She still likes having fun, but that's not the same thing as being flighty or shallow.

tecche rahimeh98 Ethereal Dream crabbycat14 i love those book and my fave character was Nawat, and the crows were great! I liked Nawat too, but better before he went off to war and turned more human.Yeah, he was funnier when he was more crowish. lol I have to admit, Nawat was funnier when he was more crowish. But I don't think he stopped being amusing, we just didn't get to see him at it. crying I've been rereading the books and I have noticed that while I'll admit that Nawat was funnier as a crow, there is a great advantage to him becoming more human-like Aly (i don't think) would have ever taken Nawat seriously if he had stayed crow and that in turn would keep her from marrying him. Also Nawat as a human is much more useful than him as a crow turned human. And also Nawat never really stopped being funny he just was a different type of funny. So in the end I believe that it was all good.

I'm so glad everyone loves Nawat since he is my fave male character. I think Aly takes more after her dad then her mum, but her dad is very protective of his daughter. I have a dad like that it can be annoying at times.

My favorite of TP's series. (: I loved what a unique character Aly was (Though I don't like her as much as Kel). Nawat was so adorable! <3 I also liked the mute mage, Ysul. ^^
My favorite of the two was the first one, mainly 'cause Nawat was in it more, and he was still very crow-ish. o= You hardly see him in the second one. He had to go away and 'become a man', which was stupid because he was just fine as an awkward little crow man. D:

I really liked Aly because you got to see the focus switch more to George and his work. I was kinda disapointed that Alanna didn't have very good parenting skills it seemed. I loved that it was Dove who became queen and the wit of all the characters, especially Aly, kept me smiling through out the books. I only wished it was a quartet like the rest of her books, and I hope to see a series about Aly's children sometime in the future.

I went on Amazon looking for Terrier today and I found something that shocked me beyond all belief. There was this little entry titled "Trickters. Daughter of the Lioness 3". Anyone care to take a stab at explaining that?
