Avari looked up at Varian in shock and confusion when he followed her. Had she not asked him to stay with the human? Feeling her fear spike she watched Azreth as he began to approach them, ready to move away once more when he suddenly sat and laid down a short distance away. Head tilting in question she lifted her ears when his words reached her. Glancing at Varian quickly before her eyes returned to the boy she frowned. Though she was glad that the stallion would be standing with her, she also was unsure if she could believe the King's words. Letting out a soft sigh she shifted her weight to lean softly against the warmth the stallion was providing, hoping his presence would keep her from backing down now that they were listening. Drawing in a deep breath she let it out quietly as Varian spoke to her.
Every detail? Was she willing to go that far into her mind for this.. Giving him a small smile at the nuzzle she took a moment to sort through her thoughts wondering where she should even begin. Lowering her eyes to the grass beneath her hooves she closed them for a moment as she opened her mind to all the things she had fought so hard to try and forget. "The woods I was born in were not kind to Unicorns, and no one knew that better then my mother." Pausing as she mentioned the mare that had abandoned them, Avari felt a shiver run through her as she opened her eyes sadly. "We were raised from birth knowing two things if you were not silent you would be taken, and if you were still for too long you could be killed. Humans there are greedy, they care for only the gold a Unicorn could get them if they were sneaky enough to get their hand on them." Frowning she lifted her eyes to look in the boys direction. "They cared not what age they were not were their hands ever careful.. If you were damaged while they fought to grab you it meant little to them, your people were happy enough to kill the damaged goods in order to sell our horns and coat." Drawing in a deep breath she imagined her sister Nim as she fell to the ground under the mans powerful fist and shook her head, praying to the Earth Mother that her sister was a peace. "Though I was always told dying by their hands was a blessing compared to being loaded on their wagons and shipped away to the auctions. I was told this my entire life, every night the hushed whispers from my mother would ring in our ears and I'm afraid I was a fool to think we would be safe forever. My mother had learned the importance of constant movement after she lost her first family to man, and she mad managed to keep my sisters and I from their traps for quite a long time. Though in our movements I saw things I would not wish to recount." Steadying her voice she closed the door on the images she remembered of Unicorns caught in the traps she had managed to avoid in her foalhood. Their desperate voices rang in her ears and she shook her head, her braids lightly bouncing along her neck.
"It was one night when my mother had grown too content with out safety that I managed to experience what Man could do first hand.. My sisters and I had just laid down to rest for the night while my mother searched the area to make sure all was well when she was spotted." Eyes turning to look over Azreths head to the trees in the distance she frowned as tears gathered in her dark eyes. "She had warned us to run before she disappeared herself, not even bothering to see if we'd managed to get away, after all she'd always been distant from us. I was taught what I needed to survive, but I guess after losing her last foals she didn't want to get too attached. After she had yelled everything happened in a blur.. Dal and I ran one direction while Nim ran straight into another man. I had watched while he beat her down for biting him, Dal wanted to go back for her but somehow I knew it was already too late. I've never seen her so still before.." Feeling a tear roll down her cheek she let out a shaky breath as she blinked the rest away, hoping to clear her vision. "At least she was braver then Dal and I. After we had scattered the men had come after us on horses that could early outrun our own pace. There were.." Eyes glancing around as if she were trying to count she frowned. "Five.. I believe five chased us. We were trapped between them.. I.. remember one man had followed with the wagon. He was a large man his belly round and he had a cruel laugh as he approached to rope us. His face.. I'm afraid it's kind of blurry.. I was frozen in fear, I didn't dare strike out in bravery like Nim for even though I knew what would happen I didn't want to die. It must have been sad how easy we were to grab once cornered now that I think back. Had my mother been watching she might have laughed as how pathetic it was.." Voice cutting out at that last sentence she quickly shook her head. "I think I'm getting off topic.. Once we were loaded on the wagon it was like reality set in, I was heading to the auctions. In my mothers mind that had been the worst fate for a Unicorn. Nobles found us pretty, And apparently they paid a lot of money to own a Unicorn to have stand in their gardens.. Left to be look at from a distance, yet never approached, shown off for others to see. I had never seen a Unicorn that went to the gardens, since hardly any returned. After I realized I had tried to talk with Dalraida but she was silent, already too withdrawn into her mind for me to reach her. That was the worst part, the silence of the ride, all I heard were the men praising themselves on their catch, at least until Eckar arrived."
Smiling lightly at the thought of the male, Avari lowered her gaze to the king. "I don't know how he was captured, but he had a plan to escape. Without him I would have never gotten away. I had thought Dal heard the plan, yet when we arrived and I tore myself from their grasp with him to flee she never followed.. I remember hearing her call out to us but.. I couldn't turn around. I guess having one Unicorn was enough, because they were shooting arrows at us. I had been hit multiple times on my flank and it kept me running.. I couldn't tell you how long Eckar and I ran.. But I know I didn't stop until my muscles were twisted in pain." Shivering lightly she had kept her eyes on her stallions Bonded, her tail twisted around her leg. "They gave up chase after awhile i guess.. I haven't seen them since."

♕x x x xK i n gxxA z r e t hx x x x♕ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ x Azreth's voice was low, rough, ragged. "My people...my people. He clenched his teeth, feeling a broiling, seething rage within his heart, threatening to overwhelm him, engulf him entirely in its madness. "My people did this -- are doing this -- on my home, my Gods-damned Kingdom." He dug his nails into his arm, drawing small beads of blood from the crescent-shaped marks on his skin, not even noticing. His breathing became heavy as he felt the unbridled rage sweep over him, and off in the distance, a hundred angry trumpets from the throats of Azrein could be heard, reacting to the King's anger through the Spirit Web. Even Varian let out a low growl, his muscles quivering with the need to seek, hunt, to kill.
The boy gasped as he felt his Bonded's anger, and quickly threw up his mental walls, panting, his mouth slightly open. "S-Sorry, everyone." The apology was carried through the Spirit Web, and even Avari could hear his gentle voice in her ears, as if he were right next to her. He felt a wash of acceptance from a thousand souls and gulped down air for a moment. "Okay. So there were five of them, and an auction house. And nobles were s-showing off unicorns in their Gods-damned gardens." The King clenched his teeth and blew out a short breath from his nose. "Alright. The first step is raiding all of the Nobles' mansions and turning their lives on their asses. Any sign of an Azrein that they aren't Bonded to, I'll throw them in the dungeons and let them sweat for three days before questioning them."
He turned his gaze to the mare, sitting up slowly. "When you fled from the men, which direction did you run? You said you lived in a forest, so wherever they are, it's definitely north of the Borro Hills, since there aren't any forests south of there." He ran a hand through his blonde hair, his entire demeanor changed. Gone was the stately, well-spoken and regal King. Now there was just a boy, not even old enough to pirate an airship [ though he could, of course, break that law if he wanted to ]. Just a boy who wanted to help someone he deeply cared for through the heart of another, just a kid who wanted to do the right thing. Unsure of himself, alone in his decision, with the weight of a Kingdom resting on his young shoulders. He didn't know if he could do this, didn't know if he could make things right by this sweet mare. but he was going to find everyone involved with this Ring and was going to take them down. And he was going to make the punishment so bad that people's blood would run cold just thinking about following in their footsteps and taking Unicorns -- or any Azrein for that matter -- captive again.
All of those feelings, all of those doubts and fears and that determination rang through the Spirit Web so that every Azrein, both Good and Neutral, could feel them. By the way Avari's ears flicked, he could tell she felt them as well, and with a grunt, he closed his walls once more. he smiled sheepishly at her, shrugging in embarrassment, laughing a bit. "S-Sorry. I get a bit carried away at times, and forget to keep my mental walls up." Varian snorted at his words, but turned to nuzzle Avari on her cheek, knowing that -- as he had felt the same thing she had -- something in the boy's thoughts must have comforted her at least a little, since her muscles weren't quivering from wanting to bolt any second now.
"Avari, I'm going to find them, okay?" Green eyes shone with an inner strength, a determination that was plain as day for the mare to see. This would be his mission, war with the Six and all. He was going to make up, as much as he could, anyway, for what had happened to this poor, sweet creature. One way or another.

Avari had simply figured the anger that suddenly laced through her breast was her own as she thought of the story, the sadness and fear it brought up simply being covered. Yet when other Azrein began to answer in Anger she stepped back, eyes flashing to Varian when he began to shake in rage. Feeling the sudden anger dissipate confusion hung in her gaze and her eyes widened quickly glancing around her when his voice rang beside her before the landed on him still in his same spot the short distance away from where she stood. Nosing Varian's neck in comfort, the Unicorn listened to his plan as her gaze watched him from the corner of her eyes. She had no comment on how he should go about this, how humans acted as punishment was something she had never thought or cared about. Avari did not know if this plan would work out or if it would only sir up problems for her in the future. Body stiffening as he sat up, she turned her head to look towards him tilting her head at his question.
"I'm afraid I couldn't be sure, I know nothing of this land scape. If you say there are no forests south of this area.. I-I would think that would be the best bet. I think I remember crossing hills.." Sighing softly she frowned, she had been in such a panic the only thing she had focused on while she escaped was sticking with Eckar and the constant movement their flee demanded of her body. "I may be able to backtrack.. But.. I'm not sure if I could go back.. I would be killed if the hunters found me." It was true, she had been scarred and thus would bring no value in the auctions now. Though she had always held the want to go and find her sister, she could never will her hooves back in that direction no matter how much she tried. Ears flicking back when she felt new feeling build in her chest, Avari glanced up at Varian before returning her eyes back to Azreth listening to his apology and smiling as she was nuzzled sweetly. "I do not know what you're doing, but it is very.. strange." Leaning comfortably into Varian she found herself regarding the being curiously. She hadn't expected such a strong reaction at her words, assuming he had simply been playing dumb at not knowing what she and many other Unicorns had went through. But the feelings he'd projected felt so real she was unsure if she could not believe him.
"I'm not sure how, but I do hope you do.. I wish there was more I could give you, but I have told you all I know.." Tail flicking she lifted her pointed ears and looked the boy over. It was hard to think someone to young could change something that had been going on long enough for her entire race to know, but she could still hope that one day she'll see her sister returned to these lands.

♕x x x xK i n gxxA z r e t hx x x x♕ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ x Azreth felt a flash of fear lacerate his heart at the mare's words. Without thinking he suddenly stood and took two quick steps forward before realizing it. Cursing silently, he then dropped quickly back down to the ground on his butt -- rather gracelessly, really. If his tutors saw him do that, they'd have an epileptic fit for certain. He sat on his heels with his legs under him, thankful he had moved so quickly the mare didn't have a chance to bolt. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't think -- but no. No, Avari. No, I will not -- can not -- let you return. I would rather cut my own heart out with a spoon and eat it than put you in danger again." The fear within him was replaced with worry, with love for this sweet, strong creature bathed in moonlight before him.
His green eyes traced the elegant curve of her muscled neck, the way her horn shone in the light of the moon, the way her dainty, cloven hooves were perfectly positioned. A small, warm smile curved his lips, and he realized that he was awe-struck. She was beautiful, so absolutely ravishing, and he was so proud of Varian for wanting to keep her safe -- hell, he couldn't blame his Bonded in the slightest. She was so sweet, so alluring, and she had such a kind heart, such a wonderful soul, how could he not love her? She was easily the most stunning creature he had ever seen -- and he had seen thousands, hundreds of thousands of Azrein in his life since they returned to the world. He tilted his head to the side, drinking in her elegance, when he heard the sound of whinnies yet again in the distance. Starting, the boy's eyes grew as round as teacup rims, and a blush heated his cheeks as he slammed up his walls. s**t. s**t. They had all felt that! Avari had felt it too! He let out a groan, and at the same time, Varian's rich, booming laughter swept across the plains.
"He truly is my Chosen, is he not, Sparrow?" The stallion turned his head and nuzzled Avari's jaw. "Now all Azrein on the Isle -- and their Chosen, too -- will realize that I am lifemate to the most gorgeous, kindest mare in the entire world!" Once again, the God laughed, a sound as clear and sweet as bells. The King shot him a glare, and Varian chortled once more before stretching his wings, blue eyes shining. "Apologies, Sire. But it really was amusing, and thanks to you, everyone will know how lucky I am."
Azreth sighed and rubbed his eyes, counted to ten in his head before continuing. "Apologies, my lady. I hadn't meant to embarass you if I did so. I was simply taken in by your -- well, you know that now." The boy coughed and then continued. "As to what I'm doing; since I was the one who Called your kind back to this world, I have a connection to every single Azrein who is not allied with the Six, Avari. They show up as pinpoints of light in my head, and I can contact any or all of them with a thought. Sometimes, when I feel strongly about something, I forget to keep my mental walls up, and you all can feel and hear what I'm thinking. If it bothers you too much, I'll simply Seal off your point of light, so that it will not effect you, White Lady." He smiled sheepishly.
"But back to what we were discussing; there's no need to apologize. You've helped me far, far more than you realize. I now have a starting point, and my gut tells me that I'll be able to find the men who did this to you and your family. And I'm very, very sorry for what you went through. . ." The hurt, the pain in his voice was clearly audible to the mare and her Lifemate. Azreth wished so bad that he could turn back time, to go to wherever her forest was and to bring them all to the Greater Herd Plains, where they'd never have to worry about being hurt. The King felt tears kiss the corners of his eyes and he angrily scrubbed at them with his fingers. His heart went out to Avari and those like her, and he would stop at nothing to see that he would make this right.

Had Varian's wing not been over her, the mare would have bolted when the boy suddenly quickly made to approach her. Pulse picking up she stared at him wide eyed, her almost relaxed posture not stiff and ears laying back. She felt confusion rise over her fear as she wondered why he would move at her like that.. So when he finally spoke his apology and explained she let out a shaky breath she'd been holding. Though she was surprised by his deep concern for her, Avari doubted her resolve would even have allowed her to trek in back in that direction. Breathing softly she tried to still her heart beat her eyes watching his own travel over her. Head tilting, she glanced up at Various hoping he would have an swear to the boys curious actions.
Suddenly becoming aware of strange feelings projecting into her mind, Avari turned her head to look at the boy in confusion. Feeling a blush rise under her fur, she was tempted to let out a quiet laugh as she realized she was being admired by a human. Shaking her head lightly she let her laugh ring through when a few horses around called out. How strange this was turning out, somehow she was seeing herself through him? Listening to Varian speak she smiled softly, her eyes glancing up at him sweetly. "It amuses you?" She joked lightly bumping his shoulder lightly with her own, her tail swaying in mild content behind her. Turning her attention back towards the human, Avari shifted on her hooves feeling slight unease enter her. He could tell where they were at any point? How was that possible with the amount of Azrein on this Isle? Looking him over curiously, she found herself ever confused by the things she was learning. He appeared such a young man, how could some one so young do so much? Bringing her mind back to focus when he brought up their previous discussion she nodded slowly.
"I doubt my family will ever reunite young King, it's sad to think that even seeing the men who destroyed them killed would not alleviate what I'd felt. But knowing I've been taken seriously is something.. greatly appreciated.." Frowning Avari watched as he appeared quite saddened, it was strange seeing someone so distressed over a situation that hadn't happened directly to them. He had no connections with her race or those struck by this situation, and aside from Varian he would also have no connection to herself. "You are a very.. strange human. Do you know that?"

♕x x x xK i n gxxA z r e t hx x x x♕ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ x Azreth chewed on his lower lip, but he couldn't help but brighten as he heard her laughter. That sound . . . he would do anything to hear it again. That Avari could still laugh made his heart fly, made it nearly with joy. Even after all that had happened to her, she still found happiness in her life, still found it in her to love. What a wonderful, beautiful thing. The king bent over double, his forehead touching the grass so neither his Bonded or Avari could see the tears freely streaming down his cheeks. They both must think he was some sort of crybaby sop, but he didn't care. This mare, and being Bonded once more to the rest of his soul -- it was wonderful. He remained bent over for several minutes until the lump in his throat faded and his eyes dried, saying not a word. He took a deep breath and straightened, and though he knew the two could feel his unadulterated joy and the reasoning behind it, he carried his head high.
"Ah, I've been told that many, many times Avari." He smiled at the mare, eyes shining. "I'm glad that you're at least a bit more at ease, and I promise that I won't intentionally startle you or touch you, or even come to your home for that matter, unless it's under dire circumstances." He rolled his shoulders, stiff from the gallop here. "As far as your family goes. . .If I can find the people who did this, and if Dal was indeed auctioned, I can and I will find her, Avari. Unicorns, even among Azrein, are pretty rare, and I can't imagine they'd be treated badly when they finally end up in the Nobles' homes."
"Indeed, I'd think not." Varian nodded at the boy's statement before nuzzling his Lifemate on her furred cheek. "We will find them, Sparrow. We'll put a stop to this, and everyone will have you to thank for it. I promise, Avari. We're going to make things right again."

How emotional this boy was.. Avari wondered as she listened to the quiet tears he shed is his doubled over position before them. She had always pictured every human, male or female, young or old, as emotionless and evil creatures. Yet in the matter of an hour she had watched him, and also been forced to experience a varied amount of feeling from him. It left her feeling strange and confused. Turning her head to glance up at the stallion beside her she let herself wonder over what had happened for a moment while everyone was quiet.
All last week she had worried over how Varian would be affected by his ties with this king, and no matter how much she was shown that he was still the same stallion she still expected something to change. Stretching her head up to lightly nuzzle his cheek Avari locked eyes with him briefly, searching for any sign that he was experiencing the same emotion as the boy, but she soon looked away unable to read what she had seen. Returning her attention to Azreth the unicorn straightened her ears listening to the words with a bit of distrust still resting in her chest. Even if he promised not to visit her home uninvited she knew she would still listen at night for his footsteps approaching unannounced now that her presence and home was known.
"I wish I knew what happened in their homes, I only know the stories I was told. Though I do hope you are correct King.." She spoke softly, her eyes carrying the sadness for her sister behind the joy the boy projected towards them from earlier. It always pained her to imagine the situation she had left Dalraida to deal with alone, and though both of them reassured them her family would be found she knew in her heart it would never happen. If there were unicorns still in those woods she doubted they would allow a human, and possibly another Azrein to see them as they traveled in the night. Had she still lived there she couldn't doubt she would have turned out that exact way. Clearing the thoughts from her mind, Avari turned her gaze to Varian pondering over the situation with his bonded. Opening her mount she hesitated a moment before beginning with a soft sigh. "Perhaps.. You may visit if Varian is there.. I feel.. selfish keeping you apart." Glancing at the king she a second she turned her head towards Varian nosing his neck lightly. "Does being apart cause you pain?"

♞x x x xL o r dxxV a r i a nx x x x♞ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Varian glanced down at Avari as she searched his gaze for something she didn't find. He draped a wing across her back, giving her the comfort of knowing that he was still there beside her, able to protect her if any threat revealed itself. He was glad that she was engaging in conversation with the boy; he had wrongly assumed that as soon as her task of asking the King for help was complete that she would bolt back to their home. He felt a small smile curve his mouth at the mare's question. "No, sweet one. I am not hurt physically unless the boy is as well. I can go for several days without seeing him if needs be, as my father did before me, but there will be something of an absence there. Imagine it like how we are, Sparrow. If you did not see me for several days, you would be sad and worried, but you would not physically be pained."
The stallion nuzzled her behind her ear, blowing alfalfa-scented breath against her mane softly. His blue eyes returned to the form of Azreth, searching for something he couldn't name within the child. He was still so young, and even with the war going on, he wanted to see this sin eradicated from the world. A small, sad smile lifted his mouth. I can see why you loved him so much, Father.
Azreth nodded at Avari, though his cheeks flushed slightly at her words. "Please, call me Azreth, Avari. There's no need for titles between family." The King shifted his weight to a more comfortable position, thinking on his next words. "If I do come to visit, I shall send word ahead of time, so that you will be expecting me. I have a kestrel -- I'll send him to fly a circle in your glade with a purple ribbon tied to his right leg. Does that seem agreeable?" He hoped that knowing when he would come would give the unicorn peace of mind in her home. It really didn't bother him if she didn't want him there -- Varian could just as easily meet with him half a mile from their glade if it made her too uncomfortable. "Regardless, Avari, please don't feel selfish." The King's words were soft, barely audible. "You've gone through so much in your life, and I do not wish to add to that burden." There was a profound sadness in his words, as if Avari's pains were not the only thing on his mind. No, every Azrein deserved to live a life without fear, without worry. And if he could start here, start with this, then maybe, one day, he could accomplish that.

Leaning into the comforting embrace of his wing, Avari allowed herself a small smile up at her stallion, a warmth filling her chest as she was reminded once more that this stallion was still her own. He hadn't changed with what has happened. Trying to drill that thought into her mind, she couldn't help the wrong feeling that grew in her mind when she thought of his new connection. Thought as he explained the new situation Avari didn't let the feeling stay long. If he wasn't in that murderous pain anymore how could she curse the bond that saved him? Ear flicking lightly when his breath hit it the mare let out a quiet laugh before shaking out her mane. "I'm glad to know you aren't in pain anymore, you really had me worried you were gone." Avari said her heart truely glad that he could be at peace, before turning her gaze back to the figure on the grass.
"Family?" She spoke under her breath confusion ringing in her words as she shifted her weight to lean away from Varian's side her eyes watching the king. Her mind couldn't wrap itself around the thought of accepting this male as apart of her inner circle, to be related to him flashed dark thoughts in her mind that she quickly hushed. Clearing her throat the unicorn gave a light nod at his words before taking a second to imagine the image of this kestrel. "Yes, that sounds okay.. Azreth." Avari paused on the last word, her ears flicking back as the implications of using his name flashed through her head. Though drawing in a deep breath she let it out in quiet sigh as she attempted to clear the worry her breast. She would have thought nothing of something as simple of using someones name had the word family not been involved..
Regardless she now would know when he would approach leaving her the time taken to move from the glade. The unicorn couldn't lie to herself that this male appeared harmless to her eyes, so much so that even with her small stature she couldn't doubt her ability strike him down if cornered. Whether that conclusion was made just because his position on the grass made him appear in her eyes, or the fact that he indeed came off as the kind being that Varian had explained of the King she was unsure. Though she wouldn't take the chance of him appearing with other beings in her new forest home, if she was cautious then she would have a future in this world. "Thank you." The mare said with a small smile, her dark eyes flashing quickly from Varian's face to Azreth's own. "For helping Varian earlier." She added on to clarify what her thanks were for. (Feel like ending it soon?)
