Jerry shuffled to the side of the supplies table, the runic torch out again as though compulsively rechecking again and again that it was at a full charge. More and more were coming in, chatting, excited, optimistic, friendly, meeting and discussing and so much new blood...
"What did I tell you about your ********' Jerry place," a voice rumbled from somewhere in the back of his head- it wasn't Roar, and he could have sworn he felt a meaty fist slapping his shoulder.
"I thought I found it," He whispered, sliding his thumb along the glow of blue runes.
"Like hell you did. Didn't you hear that order from Simon? You're a mess, ********, cease to be a mess."
"It's n-not that easy," He mumbled, "I don't... don't know if I've EVER not been a mess."
"Look, Jew-bro. What you doing in that coat if you aint cut out for it? Where would you be, if not here?"
"P-probably dead in an alley."
"And you're a Dead Man Walkin' here anyway. What's the point if you don't live in the now?"
"The now hurts," He mumbled.
"Not if you find your Jerry Place. And you better do it quick, cause s**t is going to go down and like hell you're gonna' ******** this up on account of being a mess."
Meat bag... another voice suddenly bubbled up, edged with a gruff, uncharacteristic concern. Meat bag, you're worryin' me.
"I'm fine," He whispered.

At Deryk's question it was Ofelia's turn to raise her eyebrows and for a moment Deryk's simple words had rendered her somewhat speechless. She'd told herself before they were still alive, that was what the bandages were for, and she was going to keep that thought worming itself about in her skull for as long as she could. That being said she needed to be tactful in whatever came next out of her mouth; saying something wrong now could send Deryk off in a bad mood and end her chances of ever being able to talk to him again.
Ah, paranoia. You're so cute. Rue whispered faintly, enjoying how hard it was for Ofelia to pick and choose what else she wanted to say. Normally the teen would have just spewed something out without any second thought but as time passed on the island and people grew more afraid, more inward, her words caused her more harm than anything else. Keep flailing retard, you're growing more and more adorable with each bridge you burn. She chuckled out the words as she felt the sliver of doubt in Ofelia's mind dig deeper. Still, the girl finally spoke.
"They're comin' home wit' us an' how that state is depends on them. Us worryin' that they're already dead ain't gonna help us fight ta get ta 'em, is it? We need ta b'leve they're live an' kickin'. No, not need. We have'ta." Ofelia spoke plainly and looked Deryk square in the eyes with her eye as best she could. Cheering people up really wasn't her forte, being tactful was certainly not her forte. "An' when they get back an' can move 'round 'gain we'll all work on fixin' our home tagether."
She felt stupid trying to cheer him up and it probably showed on her face. He likely thought her an overeager idiot who had no weight of the situation. The statement was about 85% true, she was an idiot and overeager, but seeing as Deryk was worried about body bags the cold nature of what was going to happen was slowly pushing down on her shoulders.
"Ah...no...I," She did her best to stress on that word, to drop her lazy tone, "...will have 'em all come back. We're all gonna come back, every last one'a us. Those goin', those 'ready there. We're gonna come back even if I gotta die makin' it happen."
. . . . that didn't make any sense.

"Rolo you know you don't need to talk to your weapon out loud right? She can hear your thoughts as well." That was probably why some normal people thought their kind was crazy, in a way they always were talking to themselves. Ceres only knew his weapon was a 'she' from their first encounter. Though Bix's reaction to Roland made her eyes light up with amusement. Oho so they knew each other, GOOD, then Rolo should know how much of a dork they both were... made for less awkward situations. Right? Though she did cringe as they explained the dragon, yeesh nice to know there was a lovely dragon in the mists now too...perfect. Eyes flicked between Bix and Rolo though, she then rolled her eyes at them both. "Hmmm maybe i was right to wonder about you the first time we met afterall then hmm?" Of course Bix would know what she meant... She could have sworn up and down at one point that he was gay, but he apparently just had...gay tendencies. She would still tease the hell out of him for it. "Oh dont worry Archer, ill ened to pay her a visit now. Second time you've mentioned her, she must be amazing." A pause. "Pft, you think ide not fetch them? Those trials are a pain in my REAR." Still she hip bumped him back, it was quite the feat that they both finished two of those death traps recently... Flicking her eyes to Rolo, She continued this train of thought. "Try the training runs sometime, they suck but they are worth it when you...eventually make it out." Eventually. And with a lot... more holes in your body from the tranq guns. Or shadows eating your face. Oh how Deus was never boring...

This is also truth.

Kostya did not need to make eye contact to catch Robert's attention. All he needed to do was exist.
"CHECKOV!" He threw his hands up and yelled. "I NEED NUCLEAR VESSELS!"

Deryk heard Ofelia's words, but he wasn't so convinced. Even if they weren't alive, they needed to do something about the ones that had taken them. A lair probably wasn't good news. Were they doing things to people again? There were so many questions. Not enough answers as always. The trainee sort of shuffled in place, but then gave the other a bit of a sad look when she mentioned she'd bring them back even if it meant dying in the process. "Ideally... no one will die. Think I've been on enough missions now to know otherwise, yes. Miracle that I've lasted this long.. yes," he said quietly. This seemed especially true due to the fact that the horsemen were involved. How many hunters had died in the Sahara that day? Aside from Julie that was.

"It's not a miracle ya've made it - yer strong. Ah've seen it so Ah know." She spoke frankly, her face moving to a worried look that eventually softened into a gentle smile. She knew his strength, they'd sparred one another, and he had been on the island longer. As a senior (in many ways) she had to believe he was capable. Now, herself? "If anyone's livin' a miracle, s'me. Ah survived that trip ta ponyland wit' an open wound, so. . . Ah. . . see what yer tryin' ta say." Okay, talking about herself and her failures was not the way to keep this going. Deryk was finally trying to sound more optimistic and he was her duty to keep his mood that way for as long as she could (or until he walked off).
She assumed he would walk off first thanks to Rue's chanting of it inside her head like a warm-up mantra.
"Er...what Ah mean ta say is. . . .ahh hell, Ah dunno what ta say. Ah'm jus' spoutin' things here like Ah know what Ah'm doin', but truth be told Ah'm jus' hopin' we dun get there an' find a pile'a bodies or some s**t." The cursing was starting. Her frustration and nerve limit was being reached. "All Ah do know if that fer every body'a ours Ah find there, nothin' good will be followin' in mah wake. They stepped inta mah sandbox, knocked me 'round like some kinda failure, an' gave a figurative spit in mah face when they took our friends." Her hand slid onto the bracelet on her wrist. Rue was cackling.
Her hands went up and into her hair, tussling the matted nest of red that would likely need to be burned off before it could be brushed out. "Aww hell, jus' . . Deryk, Ah jus' dun wanna see ya lookin' like this. Ah barely know ya, ya probably dun care ta know me more than the girl who likes ta bake an' is the resident crazybag, but jus'. . . . have faith." That word rang hollow in her mind, but she said it anyway. "We are hunters of Deus Ex. Stand proud 'cause we got this." Of course she turned her face away as she was done talking. Idiotface.

There was a lot of talking, shouting, something about nuclear vessels, and people she didn't know when she got to the room, shoving her cell phone back into its pocket and beelining for whatever it was she would need. It wasn't that she wasn't excited, Madeline was off her goddamned rocker with joy at something to do other than repair work, but she was also pretty sure that if death didn't wait for her beyond that portal, something else just as nasty did.
( I'm so glad you love things with low chances of survival. ) Arsenios snarked in her mind.
Madeline crossed her arms petulantly and stared at the crowd of trainees and hunters. Hell yes she did.

Apparently, Wilson wasn’t quite awake when he received the text, because it took him a long moment to fully register the message. It was only when his partner snorted very loudly that he snapped out of it and began to jog toward the training fields. He stood near the back. It wasn’t like he wasn’t missing much up front. Wilson could hear the explanation clear enough. “Hmmm.” He crossed his arms as he reviewed what had been said so far. “This is going to be juuuust lovely,” he murmured to himself as he fiddled with his gear. [Cheer up, kid.] Wilson grinned and looked around for a familiar face. Easier said then done.
Eyes lit up when he saw a familiar dark-haired girl and weaved his way through toward Madeline. “Mads!”

Roland being Roland, was shaken about like a rag-doll when Bix greeted him. It was rather comical considering the situation. "H-h-h-heeeeyyy." He finally managed to get out while being shook around.
"Yeah, great first date... grey burning flames. Spooky mists and all." He paused at the next part making a very thin frown. "I here by refuse to do house repairs with you if it means dragon attacks. Ever." He was half serious.
He watched the hip bump a single eyebrow poking up as they did. Nothing to ask about that he figured. "I erm, I guess I am but I don't have much for weapon options. Never been on a mission to get the qualifications but I guess this'll count."
He turned to Ceres his cheeks turning red, "I-I um I didn't..."
<< Oopse forgot to mention that, it was cute when you look like you're talking to yourself... >>
"Sylvia is a jerk and I would like to state that clearly out loud right now." Though beyond that he didn't realize just how dorkish the two where, let alone the history or anything else about them as a duo. "Errr wonder about him?" He completely missed the subtext of the 'date' joke. Eventually the topic drifted back to something he had done, training!
"I actually completed the Mistaken Tower with Canadace uhh not long before the whole siege." He grinned somewhat sheepishly, "First try too."

Kat arrived for the mission debrief on time, feeling a little restless after the recent invasion that had happened. When she learned that they were going to be invading the horsemen lair, she was more than eager to go. They had taken Ami and the others, killed Killzone. It was time to pay them back in full.
She couldn't give a toss about who the horsemen were previous to all this. She wasn't there when their home world got blown to oblivion. But after what had happened, it appeared that her superiors had the right of it. They were a danger, and needed to be eliminated. If invading their lair helped, then she was happy to go. She only hoped they weren't too late for the captives.
:Nervous?: We're going into their lair, of course I'm nervous. But Ami might be there. She helped me out more than once. Its time I re-payed the favour.

Deryk frowned and shifted in place as Ofelia began to preach to him about the ordeal. It wasn't enough to just say they stormed their turf and took their buddies. They had done just the same not long prior to the invasion. That wasn't the right mindset in his opinion. Revenge wasn't going to get them anywhere. The problem was that he also didn't really know what the right mindset should be. "Stand proud.." he repeated before finally looking towards the sun trainee, "Exactly what should I be proud of? Don't even know if I'm doing the right thing half the time. How can I be proud of that?"Shaking his head, he let out another sigh and turned away.
