Juhudi didn't even notice the laugh, his mind was too full of exited thoughts of what tomorrow would bring. He bounded after the pup and crawled into the small burrow after him. It wasn't very big, but it was just fine for the pair to spend the night in. And even if it wasn't, it wouldn't have mattered, because he had someone to share it with and that made it seem ten times bigger.

He yawned and curled up, snuggling against Nafasi. Earlier that night he had felt so tired, but now he felt like he could run around the world. Still their bodies needed rest, and they needed to be prepared for the adventure tomorrow.

Pale eyes closed, thoughts of tomorrow playing in his head, thoughts of where they would go, and of what to call themselves; until those thoughts became dreams in a light but restful sleep.

Morning sunlight glistened through the leaves of the tree to find its way to the eyes of the cub who slept there. Juhudi stirred, a large yawn parting his jaws well before he was awake enough to open his eyes, the fog of sleep still upon him.

A moment later his eyes shot open as he suddenly remembered where he was and what had happened the night before.

"Oh yeah!"

He hurridenly scooted out of the burrow and scrambled to his paws, looking back at the sleeping Nafasi to assure himself that it hadn't all just been a dream. Once outside he shook from head to tail, as an animal does to dry themself after a swim, followed immediately by a long stretch and another yawn. Then barely able to contain his exitement he turned back toward the den and scooting in head first nudged the pup with his nose.

"Hey, it's morning, wake up."

Juhudi couldn't stand still, he was much too excited. He was bounding on his paws, hopping in a wide circle around Nafasi, revelling in the morning sun.

"Uh-huh! What d'you want to eat?"

Pale eyes turned skyward, judging from the position of the sun it was probably around 8am, but it was already very bright, the sun rose quickly on the savanah. Some predators would still be around, but the prime hunting time was past. There may even be some leftovers around to scavange if they were lucky.

"Let's go!"

Juhudi raced after the pup, paws stirring up the earth with each step. For now, he was faster, but he would ineventiablly be outrun by slower, yet far more efficiant pace of the wild dog. Though as excited as he was, he thought he could run forever.

Wait, he smelled something. As suddenly as he had started, Juhudi came to a near full stop, skidding a bit in the earth beneath. Head up, ears twitching, he inhaled deeply taking in the sent...carrion. There was a fallen animal nearby, mostly likely taken down by a large predator during the night. If they were lucky there might be something left.

"Breakfast, come on."

He flashed a grin at Nafasi then set off again at a trot, his nose twitching, following the scent. They were indeed lucky, the kill was fresh, the predator must have left only moments ago. The vultures hadn't even found it yet.

The cub raced toward it, and hungrily bit into it, at the same time making sure to leave plenty of room for his friend.

The flick of a tufted tail, ears twitched, swivelling toward a new sound. He nose was too full of blood to smell it, but Juhudi thought he'd heard something. And what was that he saw from the corner of his eye, a flash of color...purple?

Momentarily lifting his head to invenstigate, pale eyes fell on the new arrival, a purple cub? He blinked once as he looked her over, she may have been younger, she certainly was substantially smaller. She had that same worn thin look that indicated she was a rouge, living alone just as they had. He sniffed the air, searching for any family she had nearby, but he wouldn't have been able to smell it if there were with his nose burried in the kill.

Quietly he nudged Nafasi and indicated toward the purple cub. His voice was a whisper.

"What d'you think?"

Juhudi looked from Nafasi to where the purple cub was hidding. Another new companion perhaps? If she agreed to join them she would be the second member of his new family, and only a few hours after he and Nafasi had found each other. Fate seemed to be on their side lately, perhaps the stars were continuing to guide them.

After a moment he nodded and spoke up, calling to the other cub.

"Hey...you can come over and share if you want."

The cub grinned and happily welcome the female.

"My name's Juhudi, nice to meet you."

Juhudi was a messy eater and by now his fur was thoroughly stained; maw, forelegs, and chest more red than white. But manners weren't important to a cub, especially one who had lived on his own for so long. He took another large bite and settled back on his haunches, chewing as he spoke.

"We're on an adventure," he swallowed and took another bite. "We're gonna find a new home for all the rouges like us, wanna come along?"
