"Indeed, it's not. The same, I think, can be said for anything artistic though." He liked to listen to music and that was the most he could do with music, he just...didn't have it in him to understand it. He'd tried, he really had, it just hadn't worked for him. It wasn't something he thought you could force yourself to learn, to gain a passion for, and understand like Lily did. He felt the same for any form of art though. It just had to be there, all on it's own.
"Yes, just like that. Though the art club teacher in my school seems to be of the mind that everyone can draw and paint." And had some artistic ability. He wasn't of the same mind as her. He thought it was something you either had or didn't. Those books they sold to help you learn did nothing more than give you something to trace and color, in a rather flat manner in his opinion. Even if you did what it said, step by step and line by line, it just wouldn't and couldn't look the same or as good. This was of course his opinion on the matter.
"It can be, but the play on light can be up to you. I think it's more difficult getting the plants to look right. I suppose it's why I paint ones I've seen or have personally. I can look at them for reference when I need it. The shadows though...they can be hard I guess but I've never had much issue with painting shadows and where the light falls and brightens things. Now if I were to do it with people I might find it hard, only because you have all the facial details to show, the sides of the nose, little wrinkles, and the like." Those might give him some issue the first few times. In fact he figured they'd give him some trouble, not that the challenge bothered him in the least. He simply didn't like that with people there was a need to be so accurate in depicting the person. It wasn't what he liked, he liked to let his mind dictate where things were and what colors to use.
"Thank you." Nodding his head he smiled. "I hope so as well. And your help today will surely brighten her day when she receives these books. Maybe I can repay you...if you want. I have several paintings, all in water colors. You can, if you want, meet me somewhere and I'll bring some with me. You can have whichever you like the best." That was one good thing about him, he could always thank someone with a pretty painting. He didn't sell them and they really just sat at home, not collecting dust, unhung and unseen by most.
