That was an interesting way to use a ghost type, and in a way it reminded him of the apparent Mew that he used to see following him periodically. Either it had gone off somewhere or it simply didn't see any reason to help him or the other trainers. "Sounds like a good idea," he affirmed, if not somewhat half-heartedly. It was hard not to feel like it was all useless, but he at least tried not to allow those feelings to transfer to Seraphine. She didn't need to inherit his dismal spirits on top of her own.

He listened with tired patience and wan curiosity as she staggered over the phrasing to her question. When she voiced it properly, he replied with a shrug, "I usually pair them up and ask them to spar against one another. Sometimes I'll give attack commands and sometimes I'll leave it up to them. The rest of the team usually watches while they wait their turn." He pulled idly at the fabric of his jacket, staring absently downward. "Sometimes I train with them, like racing and stuff. I think Guy fights against his Zoroark sometimes."

Fighting against your own Pokemon sounded weird and kind of awful. She couldn't imagine fighting against Jacques, for instance, as he'd probably take the opportunity to rip her clothes to shreds or something. But making them spar each other didn't sound hard... It actually sounded a lot like what she'd always done with them, except that was more just 'go fight or something' while she tanned or did something else. She probably should at least watch them, maybe tell them what to do or something...

Oh, she wasn't talking.

"That sounds like a good idea," she replied once she focused back at him again. "Well, not the racing or fighting them and stuff. But making them battle each other sounds good." She frowned down at her phone that she'd pulled out from somewhere, and sighed softly at the time. "I should probably go before it gets too dark out." She did not want to be outside at night so soon after losing poor Anastasia. Seraphine stood, replaced her phone and recalled her Pokemon - apart from Luna and Giselle, the latter of which faded out of view again - before putting her bag over one shoulder in preparation for her departure. "I guess I'll see you around?"

He nodded when she eventually gave her response, "Everyone has their own way to go about it. If one way isn't getting results, just try something new. If you ever want a real opponent, you can always send me a message. I'm sure Rosie would be happy to help too." Strangely, he didn't find himself opposed to the discussion of training. It was something to occupy his mind, at least, even if only temporarily.

Ah, it was getting rather late wasn't it? He'd lost track of time. A thought crossed Luke's mind. "You all right going back by yourself?" He could understand if she were reluctant to travel alone, even with a ghost-type guardian watching over her.

"Umm..." She frowned briefly as she considered it, then shook her head. "No, I should be alright. It isn't too far." A brief pause and then, "but... thank you." She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as she carefully stepped onto the bench, and Luna moved to stand parallel to it. After Sera got on and situated herself - sidesaddle, of course, because how else would you ride a horse in a dress - she took the reins in hand and looked down at Luke again. Being that polite felt kinda weird. "I'll see you later though. I might call up Rosie for training or something." That and she was her best friend after all - she also would probably be really excited to train with her, while Luke looked less than enthused about the idea. He looked less than enthused about everything right now, actually, but she could understand the feeling completely.

She waited briefly in case he had anything super important to say before offering him a "bye" while gently nudging Luna forward, and the Rapidash flicked her ears back before walking away from the other trainer.

Wait, wasn't it a little out-of-character to hear a 'thank you' from Seraphine? He didn't act too surprised about it, though; that would just be kind of awkward and rude. People changed, after all. No one would go through an experience like having a precious pokemon stolen and not change for it. If they changed for the better, did that make it a good thing that the pokemon had been lost? Maybe if it was eventually recovered, but only maybe...

He summoned what reassurance he could into his features and raised a hand with a brief word of farewell. It was probably a good idea to return home, given the hour. He didn't really have anything to do but walk around idly anyway. Luke breathed a light sigh before acting on the thought, moving in the direction of the apartment.
