Kohl nodded a mute greeting to the other trainers, and shrugs at Zeke's question. She isn't going to cage Worf unless she has to, so she can't say no if someone else wants their Pokemon out.
She'd just finished constructing a carry pack using a beach towel pilfered from the ship, and was securing it to her electrike's back when the grunting calls started echoing up the corridor towards them. She stood, testing the edge of her knife.. "Worf, you're a father now. You're responsible for that egg. Don't give me that look. Get int there. Follow that raichu's lead. Don't get too close. Bidoof are nothing, but eggs are delicate."
"Eh, it's not so bad here." The hiker says, stretching her arms above her head. "If we run out of food, there'll be plenty of bidoof if we ration them properly."
Worf: 95hp
Bidoof 1: 0 Bidoof 2: 10hp
((dang, too slow, first pair refer to an already unconscious foe. Ok to refer to 2nd pair only for damage?))

((I am so sorry, guys. I was out for most of the day without meaning to be, so I didn't see this part until late evening and I fell asleep reading it. >_>; Hopefully today won't be the same.
EDIT: Aaaand it seems like I was a little too eager to catch up, so I'm going to read everything before re-rolling and re-posting. If I'm already too late to be interacting (seeing as I passed my time limit), please just go ahead and ignore my post(s).))
Why had he signed up to go on this trip again? Right, because it was free, he thought it would be interesting to explore, and that it would be safe. Somehow his incorrect assumption of the last overruled the benefits of the former two. After all, what would any of it mean if they never came back alive? An island dense with foliage in the middle of the ocean - breathtakingly beautiful or not - was no place for a city kid who'd grown up on the streets.
As the 16-year-old slowly recovered from the second (literally) earth-shattering event, Shawn heard faint voices close by. At first he thought they had belonged to a group of native cannibals or something, but soon enough his vision adjusted to the darkness around him and he recognized the voice of at least one other person.
Attempting to get up, he was relieved to find that he had still had the bright red lifeguard floatation device strapped diagonally to his back like a sword. At first it'd felt kind of silly to be carrying around, but by now he was glad to have had it. It had broken his fall when the earth had crumbled beneath them.
What was more was that the pokemon egg he'd been given by a child at the Daycare Center was safe, nestled cozily in one of the larger pockets of his over-sized long coat. He sighed heavily in relief as he felt for it and found it still in once piece. So far, so good. He hadn't quite wanted to be responsible for another's life, but he worried what would happen to it if it was left behind and never claimed. Maybe once whatever-it-was hatched, he could let it go. Hopefully it would be independant enough to do so.

Shawn had decided to stick close to the group after that, hardly daring to breathe let alone speak as they pressed on. His legs felt like jelly and he hated the dark, which only served to remind him of the horrible urban pokemon that shared the back alleys and abandoned buildings with the other less fortunate people back home. Ghosts and poison-types were among his least favorites, though he dared not voice this as the young man called Zeke and another named Xander allowed their Zubat and Golbat out. At least he was familiar with those pokemon as they were pretty common in the Kanto and Johto reigons.
The Raichu with the young woman who went by Jeo was mildly bothersome, but again, as Shawn was vaguely familiar with the species, he figured Jeo could manage him just fine. Somehow the pair even seemed to be able to hold a conversation with one another. Another strange lady, however, had a pokemon with her that Shawn was not familiar wth. Its somewhat uncomfortable expression and the little pack it wore was not enough to quell the boy's fear of the unknown. He would just have to...keep away from it for now. It and its unknown trainer. The dark teen had noted she had neglected to mention her name, though whether this was intentional or not was unclear.
All of a sudden Jeo was mentioning the beaver pokemon from earlier and they appeared as if on que. He flinched back before remembering he had a 'weapon' of sorts with him. Better than nothing, right? And at least he didn't have to worry about relying on a pokemon to do the job for him, nor did he have to worry about it diobeying or ignoring his commands.
((Ack, sorry if the length of my 'turn' is impractical for this type of rp. x_x Just trying to make up for what I missed before. Any future posts I make will be of a more appropriate size.))

((And once more, I demonstrate my inability and forgetfulness to count/read/remember/roll. sweatdrop ))
Lifting the black strap across his shoulders, Shawn took the narrow, bright red floatation device and swated at the Bidoof. What he hadn't counted on was that his lack of a pokemon also meant a lack of proper defense. With no pokemon to take his damage for him, he had to endure the attacks of the wild creatures himself. Whatever, he thought grimly, trying not to sink any deeper into the despair he already felt. At least if I die here, they won't have to worry about burrying me. We're already below ground-level and this place is enough like a tomb as it is.
The cryptic message that Jeo had sorted out earlier repeated himself earlier. No matter how he tried to rationalize, accept, or numb himself to the idea of it, the teen did not want to die here. He was pretty certain none of the others did either, but at least they were pokemon trainers. He realized with some resentment that he happened to be the weakest and least-prepared out of his whole group.
Miraculously, however, the kid managed to beat the willpower out of the last, weakened wild pokemon so that it fainted. Whew. he hoped there wouldn't be any more anytime soon. Glancing at the rest of the group, he hoped they would ignore his odd, wimpy attempt at an attack, there. Smiling sheepishly, he gave a small, single wave before stepping back among the others in an attempt to shake off any attention he'd happened to draw to himself. That was embarrassing...
Shawn: 100 hp

(( Lol, It's fine. You got it right in the end, at least! The first roll (for rando-event) is null. )) The last of the bidoofs faint. You may take this chance to try and capture a bidoof! If you want to try and catch one of the bidoof, throw a Pokeball! You must have a Pokeball in your inventory in order to try to catch it. If you catch this bidoof, you can no longer catch any more Pokemon in these random event battles. If you fail to catch the bidoof, your Pokeball goes back into your inventory. I will randomize between everyone who threw a Pokeball to see who captures it.

Kohl is silently impressed by the teen's performance with the flotation device. The marmot-thing is defeated, but she doesn't make move to catch it.

Xander gave a sigh of relief when the last Bidoof went down and called Semadar back to his side to make sure the Zubat wasn't too harmed. "Good work guys."

Finally! They were unconscious. But probably not for long. Plus he knew nothing about these pokemon. What if they hated trainers? Better not use his one pokeball on this creature.
"Sorry," he apologized to the rest of his teammates, slipping the flotation-thing under an arm. He didn't know how soon he would need it again. "I'll try to be quicker next time."

As cute as the Bidoof was, he wasn't sure if he wanted to use his single pokeball to capture it. There would be others, he was sure, and so he decided to wait.
"Yeah! We all did awesome!"

((Pass <: )) Jeo sighed in relief as the bidoof went down. "Ok, I'm not going to mention anything remotely jinx worthy anymore." she muttered and turned to Cas, but he was back to mooning over his egg and didn't even register the defeat of the other pokemon. She turned back to her fellow party members. "Alright, someone else gets to pick where we go. I apparently can't be trusted."

The bidoof rolled back into the shadows from whence it came, vowing to return again. It left behind 5 mysterious coins, one for each of you... how odd.

The street kid took a deep breath once he had collected a second third? gold coin since their trip down there. "Um...maybe we could go down there, I guess?" he suggested, running a nervous hand through his spiky black hair as he nodded toward the nearest passageway.

Xander pocketed the new coin by him and started to walk in the direction that Shadow has suggested only for a trap to activate. He yelped and fell on his rear end when an arrow came by and gave him a sizable gash on his arm.
