Aminah’s ears perked, she could barely believe that she was hearing a person’s voice. And not just a person, but someone who knew her by name. She couldn’t yet tell who owned this wonderful voice that she was so happy to hear, but the anticipation of finding out was almost too much for her. She called back, the eagerness and appreciation in her voice all but oozing from her mouth. “Hello! I’m in here!”
Her face brightened; so she still had a chance of getting out of here. Her eyes flickered to the hole in the ceiling. The shape of the cavern bounced sound around all too well; she couldn’t tell if the voice was coming from outside, or the other side of the wall. She strained her ears, listening for a reply, but also for some sort of clue as to who was coming for her.

There was silence following her response.
After a few moments, a rope dropped through the crack in the roof of the ceiling. It dangled a few feet over one of the pools of water in the cave. The crack was only so large, it was clear that this was the only place for it to hang.
Nobody spoke, but the rope remained stationary, waiting for her.

Aminah could barely contain her excitement at having been rescued from this horrible predicament that she had literally walked into. She didn't even care so much that the pool the rope was dangling over seemed to possibly be deep enough for her to have to worry.
She stood at the edge of the pool, staring into the water. It was too dark to know for sure if it was deep or not, but she had to find out somehow. She put her foot in, feeling for the bottom. Her foot couldn't reach ground, and for a moment this was frightening, but she had to press on. She tried to keep reaching further in with her foot.
She was about knee deep when she finally touched bottom. She sighed in relief, knowing that rescue was completely possible and lowered the rest of herself into the pool.
As she continued to walk toward the center where the rope hung, the water gradually got deeper, ending at about her waist. The rope was just slightly out of her grasp, but with a little jump, she was able to get both hands around the end. Her body wasn't strong enough to continue to pull herself up without help.
"I've got the rope, but I can't pull myself up any farther." She hoped that this statement would give the other side of the rope the queue to pull her up.

The mysterious people at the other end of the rope got the message and did indeed begin to heave her up through the hole. It didn’t take long to hoist her back up into the snowy landscape above land. A group of men, a mixture of ice tribe members and those of the leaf tribe that had accompanied on this journey, stood around the rope, all clear participants in Aminah’s rescue.
Nearby, securely bound up and seated on the ground, was the man who had tricked the mixed girl. He looked upset, eyes glowering at any who came near.
”Apparently, you’re not the first one he’s tried to trick…” Enki approached the girl, a concerned look on his face. ”The ice tribe has been hunting for him for months. Thankfully, someone saw him sneaking off with his treasure. We knew someone must be inside still.”
The man put a comforting hand gently on the girl’s shoulder. ”You have a good heart, Aminah. Never lose that. Your ability to trust will get you far, but you must still be wary. There are dangerous people in the world who know how to play on your kindness. They will take advantage of you. Take this lesson to heart.”
Enki smiled. ”I think things might have been different, though, had you been able to protect yourself better. I should think a Mage’s training is in order… don’t you agre?”

Aminah's face lit up as she saw who was on the other end of the rope. They had all come looking for her. She couldn't begin to express her relief enough. She saw the man on the ground all tied up and couldn't help but think that it served him right. She was definitely a believer of karma, and almost pitied him for having left her down there.
Enki approached her and explained who the man was. He then smiled and offered Aminah a proposal that she couldn't possibly refuse.
"Oh yes!" Her cheeks were hurting from the enthusiasm that she couldn't seem to show enough. "I think that might be in order." she was beaming.

Enki nodded, still smiling. "Then you, Aminah, are now a Mage. Let your weaknesses make you stronger."
