Ayo followed along silently, feeling slightly claustrophobic. Although she knew these caves, she wasn’t used to having so many people in them at once. Suddenly, the natural, rock rooms, whose sizes she often marveled at, seemed infinitely small. In fact, it was only on rare occasion that she saw so many people gathered in one area, especially so many strangers. Despite the fact that Ayo was usually quite the outgoing optimist, she found herself feeling a bit suffocated, alone.

The woman spotted Takoda in the distance and made her way swiftly towards the healer, ignoring the fact that he was with someone she didn't know.
”Hey.” She whispered, offering him a small smile. Being nearer to someone she knew made her feel better.

As the rumblings began to grow and the drill picked up speed, Ayo found herself wishing she had some sort of weapon. If only she were proficient with a bow and arrow, anything with which to protect herself. What help would she be if they were to encounter some sort of legendary beast? How was she going to rescue anyone when she couldn’t protect herself?

The unease of the chamber was thick from all the tribe members gathered around the drill. The cracking sound of the ground seemed to put even her Radaku companion in edge as she moved restlessly shifted from foot to foot below her. Patting Pacju's neck to comfort the predominantly reptilian beast, even she couldn't hold back the spreading worry leaking its way into her veins. Taking in a deep unsteady breath as Pacju shook as if releasing an overflow of stress at the same time. Glancing around the cave Maya caught sight of the familiar wind earthling her antenna's twitching at the sight, she may not understand the earthlings as fully as they did for themselves but he looked somewhat nervous to her much as all the others did.

Maya wasn't sure what it was she wanted to do, what she was supposed to do in a situations so tense as this but before she knew it Pacju was carrying the young Alkidike woman closer to the edge of the female tribe. Closer to the edge where the wind tribe stood. Confusion spread in her mind at first, thinking perhaps Pacju was moving to escape some of the cracks that formed in the floor around the drill as if expecting them to come running at her. In the end Pacju wasn't looking at the drill, her bright horns reflecting light off Maya's face.

Whatever it was Maya secretly wished she had been noticed somehow, though she didn't want to break the tenuous alliance the tribes held in the cave they stood. Her fingers gripped a bow in her right hand tightly as she turned her gaze back towards the drill as it turned. Briefly noticing a glance from one of her Alkidike sisters she had a hard time remembering her name... Jerarda? One she was not familiar with, though knew to be quite a bit more active than she currently was. It still seemed surreal to Maya the way everyone was acting. She had felt uncomfortable approaching her so Maya remained where she was.

It seemed to Shukri that many of the others gathered here were distracting themselves from the waiting by talking amongst themselves. Some people stuck to their own tribes and others seemed willing to mingle despite the obvious tension between the tribes. Tribal politics was not the prentice's forte, he was still just coming to terms with knowing about the Shifters, Alkidike and Leaf tribe. Added to that was the fact that sometimes Shukri didn't even see anyone of the Wind tribe outside of the band he traveled with for weeks or months at a time. The art of trying to making sure many people with different needs and beliefs got along was not one the blond had ever needed to learn.

In his peripheral vision Shukri noted a strange glow and as he turned his head to investigate a small smile tugged at his lips. During the travel into this part of the mountain he'd lost sight of Maya but had now found her again on the outskirts of her tribe along with pacju. He wasn't too surprised to see the radaku with her mistress, after all they shared a tight bond. Honestly Pacju might be helpful at some point as well and even if the tunnels got tighter or smaller once they descended Maya could always walk beside her.

Since Maya looked equally uneasy right now Shukri didn't feel too bad sidling over to her to talk, they could commiserate together about the uncomfortableness of the situation. Though it was a little intimidating to be near so many of the tall Alkidike women, the wind tribe prentice offered his most recent friend a smile. "Are you okay Maya? How are your ears handling this noise?" Light blue eyes flicked down briefly to examine Pacju as he spoke. Hmm, what did the strange reptilian mount hear and feel down here?
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 6:28 pm

Looking back to where Shukri once stood Maya sighed inwardly, perhaps he had seen her looking at him and felt uncomfortable and moved out of her view. Rubbing her fingers in a rough yet none harmful manner on Pacju's neck, her bug like eyes dropping to the floor before she lifted her other hand to rub along her companions glowing horn nervous of what would emerge from the hole if they didn't end up dropping through the floor once the drill broke the ground. She had been so per-occupied in her thoughts and the swirl of the drill she hadn't noticed Shukri when he emerged from the group near her.

Jumping when she spoke, her heart gave a small flutter when she turned to face the very person she had thought had moved away from her though glancing from him to the ground seemed to be easier for her. "Shukri. H-hi, the noise isn't so bad. Screaming birds sound much worse. At least this is constant enough it could be drowned out with thoughts. Or anything for that matter." Maya paused to look at Shukri with a smile before it faded with her question. "Is the noise to much for you?" A hint of concern echoed in her eyes. Pacju sniffed the earthling curiously, eventually satisfied she knew this one.

"No I'm ok, it's not too loud, it just sounds wrong," Shukri replied as he tentatively reached out to pet pacju. He wasn't sure if the radaku would let him near again. "We do have some pretty loud birds in Sauti and they don't even make up for it by being very pretty," he admitted with a bit of a chuckle, tension easing itself out of his body as he spoke and was able to distract himself.

Chal gave the drill a long look as they walked along, "I am not sure what to think of it." He said, watching as the thing was moved into place and when it was turned on he couldn't help but to give a bit of a wince, "It's making such a racket... what if the 'legendary beast' hears it?" He didn't like the idea that the noise might very well annoy the creature and drawn it in. If it was upset it would be more likely to attack, wouldn't it?

Looking down at his friend who was clinging to him all of a sudden, seeming as though Takoda didn't care for the drill sound either, and he slid an arm around him, patting his back in a soothing manner, "It will be alright." He said, while he wasn't sure if that were so he wanted to believe it, "We aren't alone here, there are plenty of others that will also aid in keeping everyone safe if anything shows up." He'd be the first to put himself between the dangers and those that he cared for. When Takoda seemed to get used to the sound of the drill and drew back a little Chal was slow to release him but did so when he realized that he really couldn't walk all the way to where they were going within the mountain with his arm around his friend. That might going a little overboard when it came to protecting his friend. He should really allow the Healer to walk on his own after all.

Turning his attention back to the drill and the drill team once more the Shifter tightened his hold on his shield, seeming as though he were waiting for the hole to be punched through the wall as well as waiting for whatever might be awaiting them on the other side of the wall. His concentrated slightly, turning to look over at the Wind Tribeswoman who had come over to join them and he gave a chuckle, "Making even more friends in Sauti too, Takoda?" He asked, finding it a little funny that the Healer seemed to be drawing in so many people recently. He was glad, back home it seemed that Takoda got teased a lot due to his issues with bugs. Lately though he seemed to be making friends despite that issue, it was good to see since he knew that the lack of friends was something that Takoda had worried over.

*****

Jacinthus looked over at his sister as she remained silent but he could tell that she was quite excited by what was coming up. They really didn't even need to talk about what was coming, as though they were both as ready for it as they could he. As they reached the first step in their destination, the drill going to work, his ears twitched a bit, "Eesh... that's obnoxious, isn't it?" He muttered to himself. His ears were so sensitive, having trained himself since he was younger to keep his sense of hearing sharp, and now that he was near to this machine he couldn't help but to find the grinding sound almost painful. Lifting a hand up to rub it against his ear he was eager for the horrible sounds to end.

Turning to his sister he opened his mouth to say something to her, wanting to see if the sound was bothering her as much... when someone else, the bubbly girl with the white hair, came rushing over to them to congratulate Kei on on her promotion. He gave a bit of a chuckle then, "Was their any doubt? Little Kei here is far to stubborn to fail at any trial out there." He said to Aminah. He knew it was a comment that might earn him a punch but he couldn't help but to tease his sister, always finding it far to amusing and tempting to do so.

Glancing at Kei he asked, "Is this the friend of yours that you were talking about?" He asked of her in a curious manner, she sure did seem like how Kei described the girl to him and he figured he might as well ask.

*****

As the drill started Rishima's antennae started to twitch rapidly, making a bit of a face at the machine as he found it to be rather distasteful. The shaking that it caused was messing with him a bit due to the vibrations but he did his best to keep from letting it effect him too much or at least he was trying to. It really was a bad sound, wasn't it? Leaning against Itzal he decided to try to find something else to distract himself with, glad to for anything else to happen, "You doing alright, Itzal?" He asked of his familiar who had his teeth barred at the machine, clearing finding it to be tempting to attack it to stop the noise it was making. The fact that Rishima had a hand on his back was what kept the beast from wanting to do just that.

Looking over to where Jerarda was once again, standing with their sister who he felt didn't care for him much, he starred at them for a moment. He wanted to go over there, to join her, to talk to her while the Wind Tribe worked on their digging, but he couldn't find it in him to do so. He didn't want to get underfoot after all when it came to Jerarda and her friend. As he was starring at them though Itzal was suddenly perking up, giving a little crooning sound, and went trotting off in a speedy manner that nearly caused the halfbreed to tip over, "Ah... Itzal?" He called after him, wondering where the Radaku was going... that was until he saw the other Alkidike that was standing there, one he hadn't gotten to know, who seemed to have a Radaku that was far lighter in color then Itzal, "Ahh, I see." Of course he would be interested in a friend that was similar to him he thought to himself.

Quickening his steps Rishima tried to keep up with Itzal as he approached Pacju, giving her a purring sound of greeting, seeming pleased over getting to find another Radaku in Sauti of all places, so far from their birthplace.

There was nothing Phen could do about Jera's attitude, and she knew it. Back at home, these moments would have been spent sparring until the other Alkidike got her frustrations out, or otherwise doing things that would allow Jera to forget about whatever had pissed her off in the first place. Like how their conversation turned into a romp through Sauti. Phenyo wasn't still bitter about that at all, by the way.

There was no time for Phenyo to mentally roll her eyes at her huffy friend, however, because they were moving forward and into the mountain. The noise caused by the drill made her visibly wince; it was unnatural to be digging down into the earth, and it made her hurt a little inside.

She was sure, however, that whatever was down there was not going to be happy about intruders into its lair. Phenyo's eyes were trained to where the drill dug deeper into the ground, nearly poised - if anything decided to rise up and meet them, she wanted to be ready for it.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:21 am

Slowly, the grinding of the drill came to a halt. The Wind Tribesmen pulled the device away from the area over which they had been digging, revealing a hole just large enough for three or four men to fit into at once. The strange thing was… when the drill stopped, it wasn’t only the obnoxiously loud sound of that machine that left the air. A deep, full silence permeated the area; the other-worldly rumbling had ceased.

Vescillea’s brow furrowed. ”Arm yourselves…” She breathed, plenty loud enough for anyone in the full room to hear. Those who had weapons readied themselves for the worst. As for those who were weaponless: on the ground, especially near the corners of the room, broken shards of glass could be found, warped from years of simply lying in the dust. Odd slabs of sharp metal could be found amongst the rubble alongside yards and yards of twisted, broken wires, like thin, colored vines. Rocks, of course, could also be found, laying just about everywhere. Even for those who hadn’t yet received a weapon of their own, makeshift tools could be found.

And it was a good thing too…

Without warning, an enormous rumble shook the ground. Dust and debris fell from the roof of the mountain, but it held stable; no part of it seemed to be threatening a collapse. Two sharp talons emerged, gripping at either side of the hole. With immense strength, a creature pulled itself from the opening. It was large, ripping the gap in the earth wider as it pulled its body through. It was grayish blue in color, covered in scales that perfectly resembled the rocks of Sauti; if it were laying down asleep, there is no doubt it would have blended into the scenery flawlessly.

The curved talons were attached to a pair of long, sturdy forearms, hanging from which were a set of ripped, leathery wings, no doubt now incapable of flight. The Legendary Creature seemed a bit disoriented, as if just waking from a deep slumber.

A long, black tongue, forked and dripping with saliva, shot out from the creature’s long, pointed snout, tasting the area. Its large nostrils flared, taking in the scent of the room. Its eyes were milky, blind, but it seemed to know, by taste and smell alone, that there were strangers in the room. Invaders. It was not pleased.

OOC
That’s right. Y’all are under attack.

Prentices
Each of you has 10HP.
To attack, roll 2 10-sided dice.
The first die determines whether or not your attack hit: 1-4 Miss. 5-7 Half Damage. 8-10 Full Damage.
The second die determines the amount of damage.
If your first die was 1-4, your second die will not count.
If your first die was 5-7, the damage will be half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 5, 10, you will cause the legendary creature 5 damage).
If your first die was 8-10, the damage will be the full value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled an 8, 10, you will cause the legendary creature 10 damage).

Seconds Stagers
This system is more basic than our usual Battle System, so that everyone can participate, so your Stats will not be used here.
Each of you has 20HP.
To attack, roll 2 20-sided dice.
The first die determines whether or not your attack hit: 1-5 miss. 6-13 half Damage. 14-20 Full Damage.
The second die determines the amount of damage.
If your first die was 1-5, your second die will not count.
If your first die was 6-13, the damage will be half the value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 6, 20, you will cause the legendary creature 10 damage).
If your first die was a 14-20, the damage will be the full value of the second roll (i.e. if you rolled a 14, 20, you will cause the legendary creature 20 damage).

Legendary Creature
The legendary creature has 100HP.
The legendary creature will roll the same as the Second Stagers.
It will be able to attack individuals or the group.

You may only attack once between the legendary creature’s attacks (i.e. if you attack, no matter what you roll, you must wait until the legendary creature attacks before you can attack again). However, you may continue to RP as frequently as you wish.
If you run out of HP, you have been knocked out and may not continue to battle.

It would be easiest to roll first, and then edit your post with an appropriate RP response.

Edit: Please note that the Legendary Creature's HP has increased to 100...magically.

Maya smiled when she noticed Shukri relaxing, and seemed even more pleased when Pacju lifted her muzzle to press firmly into the earthlings palm. Pacju could remember Shukri from the first time they met, but wondered where the small squeeky version was. "She hasn't forgotten." Maya smiled her face heating slightly at the memory before she lowered herself from the Radaku so she was slightly closer to him. One hand still resting on the beasts horn as she looked like she was about to say something more when Pacju seemed to turn instantly away from the earthling with a strange questioning sound.

Though the familiar rumble of another Radaku was distantly familiar to Pacju, it was also foreign to her. She had been raised by Maya, always with Maya to see another Radaku usually meant trouble. Here the strange darker version didn't seem intent on hurting the other beings in the room so she felt a less driving need to protect Maya. She kept her head high as Itzal approached her but returned the greeting in a friendly manner.

Confused at her companions sudden distraction Maya blinked several times before she found the source. Another Radaku? Here? in Sauti? Why? Maya had not come across any other Radaku who were tempered to the touch of her tribe, perhaps it belonged to one of the earthlings. She thought. Though before she had a chance to really search for the one that accompanied the creature silence fell on the chamber like a deafening fog.

Whatever tension was in the air before was like water to now, shivers ran up and down her spine. Vescillea's words seemed like a yell in her ears as she reached forward towards Pacju pulling forth her bow from the beasts back. Gulping down her fear as she quickly loaded an arrow from the quiver, she braced herself for whatever would come from.

Her heart jumped when the beast emerged from the ground below them, wincing and shifting in order to avoid getting the debris in her eyes from the cave around her. Pulling the bowstring back Maya Aimed as best as she could towards the beast, but the stinging dirt in her eyes sent her arrow veering painfully off to the side. She had missed the beast.

Things had gone from almost pleasant to a disaster in mere moments. One minute Shukri was being nosed by Pacju and watching another radaku approach and the next everything was silent but for Vescillea's shout. The young prentice wasn't exactly sure how he was supposed to arm himself, all he ever carried was a simple sing and there were too many people packed into the cavern for him to be able to use it effectively against whatever might appear. He supposed he hadn't been thinking too smartly when he'd wish fo- In the name of Bergchi what was that!

Sauti has some fascinating reptilian predators but nothing like this, at least not to Shukri's knowledge. He didn't have time to admire or ever really fear the creature that had emerged from the hole though. As people shifted about and moved to avoid the legendary beast and it's tongue Shukri found enough space to be able to swing his sling and get a clear shot. He wasn't sure how much damage a simple rock would do to the creature but he had to try. Using the heaviest rock in his arsenal the wind tribe prentice wound up and let fly. The dark stone struck the beast solidly just under one pale sightless eye and Shukri could only hope it would help.

As soon as the hit landed he was back peddling as far away from the monstrously huge creature as possible. He was only a prentice after all and not really a well trained fighter.

Takoda's posts in green
Takodas HP: 20
Takoda rolls: 6 = half damage Dmg = 15 / 2 = 7.5
Takoda will be using Earth Magic: 4/5 uses left
Beasts HP: 87.5/100

Takoda had been surprised at Ayo's appearance beside him, though he was happy she was willing to be separate from her tribe to speak with him they weren't going to have enough of a chance to talk, or have Ayo properly introduced to his good friend Chalcedony since the drill had started up and was terribly loud.

Takoda felt a bit of reassurance from his friend when he pat his back like a mother may to a child to comfort them. Chal understood how the sounds reverberating off the walls made his skin crawl and his ears hurt, and as he was about to thank his good friend when suddenly there was something ripping out of the ground. At first Takoda wondered if it would be something like back home...big...with mandibles...and poisons.

He couldn't help but shrink back into his friends chest when it came out of the ground, and though he was relieved it wasn't a giant bug, it was a big reptile instead. Somehow that was better. Eye's rather large Takoda saw how one of the alkidike women charged forward to attack it, her hit bouncing off the creatures hide. She was going to get hurt!

Panic welled up as Takoda didn't want to see this girl, whom he now recognized a little belatedly was Maya the alkidike girl he had met a long time ago, get hurt! He was a healer though...he had no weap....wait no he had magic. Takoda had been dappling with water magic for healing...but he had been working on earth magic as well.

Now was a good a time as....oh no! Now Shukri the wind tribe boy was getting into the fight. Though his hit seemed to land Takoda did the only thing he could think of to try and distract the creature from immediately targeting the ones directly in front of it.

Stepping away from Chalcendony he swallowed and using his hands he narrowed his eye's focusing on a pile of rock and debri the creature had made getting out of the hole, raising his hands he lifted the rock and then making a quick panic movement to the side of the creature FLUNG the rock at it. He was aiming for its face...for he hoped to cause it some blindness.....but it only seemed half effective.

Keilana posts in brown
Keilana's Hp: 20
Beasts Hp: 87.5/100
Keilana Rolls: 11 = half dmg Dmg = 6 / 2 = 3
Keilana will be using her Hammer.

Keilana smiled as Animah had approached in her normally bubbly fashion, she was just so cute...and it was hard now to really be irritated by that smile. Still she laughed and nodded her head, but wasn't able to respond to her friend when the drill had started up and became unbearably loud. Half tempted to cover her ears to block out the noise, there was a sudden shaking of the ground and she look up and in astonishment as something...CLIMBED out of the earth.

Keilana had never seen anything like that before it was HUGE and reptilian and it had teeth. Big teeth. Blinking she almost forgot about the hammer in her hand...right...she was a guard now..this is what she was training for...to protect her friends and her brother. Giving him a glance she gave an impish grin before charging off her hammer in tow.

Granted...wielding the hammer had yet to become an art and though she swung..baseball style her foot slipped in the dusty ground and her hit managed to only be a glancing blow. Though she didn't know the other two who were in the fight already she was surprised to see the dirt flung at the creatures face via magic. It seemed...much more effective that her hit.

Jerarda posts in purple
Jerarda's Hp: 20
Jerarda Rolls: 18 = full dmg Dmg = 6
Jerarda will be using a......spear?
Beasts Hp: 78.5/100

Jera's mood didn't seem to be lifting and though she managed to catch Phenyo's gaze as moments and then keep an eye on Rishima...though she just noticed that 'she' had a spear now. Pride welled up seeing that Rishi had succeded in what 'she' had set out to do. Jera wanted to go and speak with 'her', but the drill was loud and it made her antenna hurt and then suddenly there was something coming out of the ground.

Jerada assumed it must be one of those large burrowing insects from home...how it got here...who knew? BUt she was soon corrected as it was NOT one of those insects but a large and powerful looking reptile. Jerarda felt her eye's widen with...anticipation. Blood already beginning to boil over at the concept of fighting this thing..unfortunately other people had already beaten her to it.

Some landing a blow others missing...and one flung....dirt at its face? Well! Jerarda was about to run forward, eager to punch the thing in the face as well, but was at least intelligent enough to realize it was covered in a hard material...so her hands would probably end up broken. Hauling her spear off her back she gripped it and went forward.

Once again not thinking of the fact she was probably going to give Phenyo a heart attack, but she wanted to impress everyone! Jerarda was amazing...and she would prove to everyone once more that she was. Striding forward she went to stick the creature in its underside...unfortunately it had moved and she ended up only getting the brunt of a shoulder. The tip of her spear managed to penetrate...but it didn't seem as effective as she would of liked.

Ayo smiled briefly at Chalcedony, as he made a comment on Takoda's popularity. She opened her mouth to introduce herself, feeling slightly more relaxed, surrounded by such friendly presences. However, she found herself stopped by a profound silence. The lack of noise was so deep, so complete, it felt wrong for her to talk.

The Wind woman slowly turned her attention back to the hole, now exposed to the open air, the machine pulled aside. Her hands balled into fists as an unexpected roar shook the floor, it was all she could do to maintain her balance. It was immense... and reminded her instantly of a giant Sail Scale, battered and rock covered.

Those bright, blue-green eyes widened, watching as Takoda and several others flew into motion, attacking the creature. Ayo's hands slid down her sides, as if searching for a weapon that she knew wasn't there. Yet again, she found herself wishing that she had managed to obtain a bow and some arrows before this point.

Instead, the woman picked up the nearest object she could find, a rock. She hurled the rock in the beast's direction. Of course, despite the size of the creature, she was a terrible shot... and missed the grumbling creature completely.

Oh goodness, she wasn't being the least bit helpful, was she?
