Aria brought the polearm up to block, gritting her teeth as the blade bit into her shoulder. She forced the blade off of her, swinging her own polearm in counter. "Cut! That blade wasn't made for hacking like an axe!" Aria snapped.

Madison didn't try to block Aria's counter-attack; instead she backstepped rapidly, taking only a glancing strike to one side. Kouki couldn't directly parry a weapon like that, she was pretty sure. She also didn't respond verbally to Aria's remark, but when she saw another opening, she brought a single blade down and under the polearm, jabbing at Aria's leg in a quick strike.

The blade being jabbed at her brought a hiss of irritation from the hunter. Aria stepped closer, bringing her polearm up in a cross-guard fashion in an attempt to knock Madison off of her feet.

Once again, Madison tried to jump back, but the polearm's reach was too great, and she was indeed knocked off her feet. She released one sword in favor of tucking and rolling, wincing as pain made itself known; still, she turned the last momentum from her roll into a hard strike with the one remaining sword, a low sweep at ankle-height before retrieving the other blade and rising into a defensive position.
