The childlike timid smile grew near immediately when the Princess agreed upon informing a guard or two of their whereabouts. Not only was it a polite thing to do, but he was kind of not in the mood to be out on the streets...or back in some of those shops. Helping her stand up, Dayle turned about to follow the Princess out; however, it was about halfway when Albert came in. There was a little bit of confusion in Seeing Albert, Dayle furrowed his eyebrows a little bit in confusion, wondering why he would accept a task of looking how to release the rope bracelets. The brows softened as he gave a small nod of appreciation; making a mental note of actually doing something as a token. If he had those dog ears, they would be perked with interest with the mention of secret trail. Looking over to the Princess, seeing the obvious cheeky smile; he gave an equal one while having a feeling she had something up her sleeve. Most likely Albert knew as well, but just never said anything. Or intentionally mentioned about the trail. Either way, it did not matter, since the thought flew out of his mind as soon as he was dragged away. Keeping a hold of the Princess’ hand but looking back to Albert and giving a silent nod—since bowing and moving was a bit of a difficult task at the moment.

Finding something in the Princess—possibly the confidence in her voice, albeit timid—Dayle followed her willingly through the conservatory and out to the balcony. It was not long after, though, she led him out and down towards a rather interesting garden.

A habit that possibly the Princess will eventually break him of, Dayle kept silent as the two traveled out of the walls of the castle and down along the steps to the gardens. Looking around in awe, while his instincts were starting to come out as he examined each plant while passing by them. This was more of the fact of harvesting and studying than anything else. …Alright and possibly eating them, but he did not want to admit that out loud for not wanting to upset the Princess. Keeping up on her pace, which was a leisure one, he locked his arm at a 90˚ angle to make sure his arm would be at the ready. Just in case she slips or trips upon something. Listening to her carefully, Dayle found it intriguing that she would dote on her Uncle far more than her parents—well at least so far. The two have quite some time together and there would need to be some kind of story that could wait to be told.

Stopping at the hedgerow, Dayle saw that cheeky look that crossed the Princess’ lips again as an eyebrow rose a little in both suspicion and in curiosity. A small chuckle came from him when she admitted the fact of no one finding the pathway again—except, from the sounds of it, her. Although still keeping ahold of her carefully, Dayle did his best to take a step back as she mumbled Druidic words. What he caught, there was only two syllables that sound similar to what she spoke in his bedroom, but most likely in different context.

Coming to figure out the Princess, herself, was like a child; wanting to go anywhere and everywhere without any second thought to it. Although dragged, it was only a couple of steps of being behind her before his covered-hooves as feet finally caught up to her. It was not long after the two crossed through the archway that the branches intermingled to the point it seemed ever undisturbed. Luckily, from the casual stroll to the small jog, Dayle was able to keep up with the Princess. There was no way to tell how fast or slow she would go, so he made a mental note keep himself mindful about that. There was only a moment where Dayle went into sensory overload, from different sights to see to different scents and aroma from foliage and fauna. Closing his eyes briefly, only to open them up the moment the lake was in sight.
”This area looks just slightly familiar.” Although it was just this morning, a lot of things came into a blur. And look! Dayle can talk! Looking over to the Princess, Dayle noticed the nerves of shyness and whatever else worried her mind washed away within the presence of the hideaway. There was a crack of a smile upon his lips at the sight of this. Not knowing her for twenty-four hours, he did not want her to worry under any circumstance.

Following the Princess downward along the stair-case, carefully releasing the grasp of her hand once they were at the foot of the stair-case. Keeping his distance, but still close within arm’s reach, Dayle examined the area carefully. It was time for not only to take in the scenery, but to start working on the duty he was appointed in the first place—keeping guard. Of course, keeping guard in a casual manner. There was another small smile upon his lips before looking over to the profiled Princess.
”It is quite remarkable, I have to admit.” A pause before scanning upwards to the skies, most certainly making note to take the Princess upwards—if she so desired—once they figure out how to get him back to his original form.

Resting on the wooden barrier at the look out, Evita felt happier than she had in days, even weeks. It was a huge relief to be able to leave the castle again, especially with someone to watch over her that wasn't an obvious guard. Looking over to Dayle as he commented on her favourite spot, the Princess felt over-joyed. She had someone else to enjoy her lookout with, how wonderful! Turning back to the waterfall, she fell silent, watching the water cascade down the rockface. It was a few moments before she spoke again, and she didn't sound as shy as earlier. "I first came to this place when I was young. I was barely old enough to remember it, but I know I was quite young. There wasn't much of a forest back then, but that changed." Smiling, she ran her hands over the wooden banisters of the lookout. "I asked my uncle where the trees were. He looked me in the eyes and told me there never were trees here. That for some reason, they never grew. I told him that one day, I'd fill this valley with trees so birds and animals could have a home." Turning to face Dayle, the most joyful smile crossed her face.

"Every time my family came here for a holiday, I spent time here. From sunrise till sunset, I was out here. When fires in dry seasons destroyed areas, I healed them. I protected these plants and now... They protect me, like you do." Shuffling a little on the spot, she rubbed her arm under her robe sleeve. "I made all this to give animals and birds a home. I hadn't been here in years, but look. It thrives on it's own now." Sweeping her hand across the forest and lake space, she spun on the spot. "With a helping hand, anything is possible." It was clear that being around plants brought out the best in Evita, that it brought confidence to her. Tucking her hands into her sleeves, she smiled politely at Dayle. "We'll find a way for you to spread your wings, together." Looking to the sky, the serene smile stayed on her lips. "You'll be able to touch the sky once more, I promise." Taking her hands out her sleeves, she reached forward and took Dayle's hand once more. "Come, lets go to the lake." And with a tug, she lead the way down to the lake from the lookout, the bubbling brook that lead the way mingling with the bird calls and other foresty sounds.

Within minutes, the trail began to go from wooden slats, to large river stones. Walking carefully over the stones, Evita sent a confident smile occasionally over her shoulder to Dayle. Reaching the lakeside, the forest seemed to open up for the body of water, like the forest knew what was nestled in it's heart. Picking up her robes, she let go of Dayle and crept closer to the lake edge. Her ankles were barely visible, but her bare feet were, and dipping a toe into the water, she chuckled with happiness. "It's warm." She giggled, looking to the clear sky in the forest clearing. "The sun keeps the water warm, except in winter obviously." Pulling her toes out the water, she stepped back to dry land to stand with Dayle again. "I used to swim here in summer, the water was always much warmer than any other lake I'd been to. I've never found out why. It's a nice mystery." Hands disappearing back inside her sleeves, she stood smiling at the forest surroundings for a few moments before she spoke again. "Let me know if you think we should return or if we might have been gone too long. I lose track of time out here." With a smile and a chuckle, she began to wander around the grassy areas of the lakeside, occasionally bending down to brush her fingers over a patch that wasn't as green as the others, only to have the patch of grass turn a healthy green at her touch.

Stepping closer carefully to lean against the wooden banister as well, Dayle kept a close but still polite distance between himself and the Princess. He genuinely thought she would not mind the closeness, but it was just out of polite courtesy to have the empty space between the two. Listening to the Princess attentively, but his eyes scanned outward to the forest. He probably would have appreciated the beauty from a true aerial view, but being practically above the treetops is better than no trees at all. However, when he thought of that, it was like the Princess was in his mind answering an unspoken question.

Looking over to the Princess, Dayle furrowed his eyebrows a little as she spoke on how her family visited the castle each time and kept her day busy by residing in not-so-lush of a land. There was still a small quirk of a smile, though, as she spoke something so mundane like it was her own family—something so dear and precious to her heart. There was a little bit of a red tint rising to his cheeks when she spoke of how somehow they all protect each other. Dayle looked back over to the view of the forest when his smile finally grew.

”Never have I seen anything or anyone speak so passionately that so many creatures would take for granted.” As in a choreographed dance scene, Dayle looked skyward alongside with the Princess before looking back down to her briefly. Nearly expecting the spontaneous hand-tugging now, he was more than willing to follow her along to the lake. Looking down to the practically seamless transition from wooden planks to cobblestone and river stone, he contorted his lips to the side in curiosity—not asking how as it may take away the enigma of the whole place.

Releasing her hand, Dayle stood a good couple of feet away from her, but along the lake shore. Probably not a wise decision on his part as these were the only set of shoes customized specifically for him, so as the Princess was dipping her toes into the lake, he bent down to unlace the shoes and took them off carefully. It was possibly the first time the hooves were out in the open like this since he was with the witch. A deep-gray tone that seemed like it would belong to a young stallion. They did not act like a horse’s legs as they were not bent inward; but acted more like a human’s foot…just not.

Placing the shoes closer to the dry portion of the lake shore, Dayle looked skywards briefly and gave a small tilt of his head to the side.
”There is still daylight out. I think we will be okay for a little while longer out here.” In the meantime, he moved himself closer to the water and dipped a foot in there carefully. Unlike any humanoid toes where one could wiggle and multiple ripples would come about, his was one elliptical ripple. Smiling a little bit, he looked back over to the Princess. ”Zucchini told me about hot spring spots throughout the worlds. Maybe those hot springs and the constant cooling from the forest all around contrast each other to create a warming temperature bearable to the skin?” For being a human as a decoy, Dayle was rather intelligent. With a small shrug, he bent down a little to roll up his pants to his knees. At the ankles, it was practically a seamless blend of horse hair to human skin at they were a soft crème-yellow tone. Moving closer inward of the lake, until it was about mid-shin deep, Dayle chuckled a little before looking back to the Princess. ”You may join if you wish.” He did not want to pressure her, but at the same time—one of them would feel stupid as one is in the water and the other isn’t.

Oh how wonderful it was to be around someone that understood you. He had commented on how passionate she was, and deep inside the Princess was giggling and blushing like a shy little girl. Humans didn't quite understand how someone or something could be so attached to plants and nature, but elves and other creatures that needed forests or woodlands to survive and hide understood. Sure, Evita didn't know how much Griffins relied on forests, but he definitely understood her, his words were sincere. The only thing to distract her from her lake-side tending was watching Dayle remove his special shoes to reveal the only hints of his true form; hooves replaced the part where human feet would be and Evita found herself wriggling her toes at the mere thought of it. The colouring was quite nice, and the Princess found herself wondering what he'd look like - colourwise - in his proper form. It was hard to imagine, since she hadn't really seen a Griffin before, but it just made her want to help him out even more. Stopping her trek in favour of paying more attention to Dayle, his words made her feel much more excited than earlier. He said they could stay out longer! This was fantastic. She hadn't spent so long outside the castle, and she was itching to let her true self show. Simply too nervous to even think about revealing that much of herself on the first day spent with Dayle, she simply walked back down to the lake side as he explained about hot springs and the cool atmosphere of the forest were probably the cause of the lake's perfect temperature.

"I think you're right." Was all she simply said with a smile. Watching him curiously as he rolled the legs of his pants up, revealing the seamless change from horse hair to human skin, she giggled a little as he waded out into the lake. Perking up as he asked her to join him, she looked around for a tree nearby. Not finding one, she did the next best thing; grow one. Bending down to rapidly grow a sapling her height, she looked at the sturdy little tree before glancing at Dayle. A blush crept to her cheeks as she cleared her throat shyly. "I hope you don't mind that I have to remove my robe. I've got garments underneath but... Not many people see me without the robe." Turning her back to the Griffin, she took a deep shaky breath and gently slid her arms out the sleeves of her robe. The garments she wore under the robe were somewhat obvious even with the robe on, for a guilded bodysuit was constantly on show on her upper body, full skirts and layers of the robe covering from her waist down. Heavy royal robes were hung onto the strong sapling, leaving Evita in the wrap around skirts and the body suit. Untying the bow that held the skirts up, she hung that off the tree too, leaving the Princess in an outfit that most human females would adore. The gilded purple bodysuit was accompanied with cotton shorts the colour of cream that fluttered high up on her thighs, her arms and legs bare save for a small anklet of gold on her right ankle, an amber jewel bouncing against her skin. Rubbing her left hand on her right arm, she quickly padded down to the water to join Dayle.

By the time she waded out to where he was, it was quite funny since the water was much deeper for her short height, and it was quite close to touching her shorts. With a happy little chuckle, she ran her hands over the water surface with a glow on her face that hadn't been seen for ages. Wiggling her toes in the sandy base of the lake, she looked to the sky and shut her eyes. "I forgot how good it was to be in this lake." She said softly, her fingers still trailing in the water. The softest hints of a foresty green were present on her fingertips now, a colour that slowly trailed up her fingers as she waded around in the water. The same thing was present on her feet, but that was harder to see, but the other obvious change in Evita was tendrils of green that began to entwine themselves in her hair and around her crown of wood. Tiny blossoms appeared on the crown and tendrils, and it wasn't until Evita caught a glance of a wayward tendril that she realised what was happening. With a chuckle, she wrapped the tendril around her finger and looked to Dayle, feeling a tad nervous at what she was about to say. "I d-don't know if you were told but.. This.. Isn't my true form either. I promise th-that one day I'll show you just... Not today. Not until you can share yours too." Letting go of the tendril she walked up to Dayle and took his hands in her damp ones. "We can both be open with each other then. No secrets after that. I hate having secrets." Squeezing his hands, she smiled up at him, eyes closed for a moment as sunlight above them was a little bright where she was. A squeal from Evita and a jump nearly sent her falling into the lake, her arms clutched together in front of her chest.

"I forgot there was fish in here, they're nibbling my toes!" Chuckling more as more tiny fish "attacked" her feet, a small leap to avoid them resulted in Dayle getting splashed with water, making Evita forget the fish for a moment as her hands covered her mouth, seemingly shocked and surprised she had splashed him.

It was rare for Dayle to understand laws of humanistic nature and everything else below tree lines. Feeling proud that he remembered that from Zucchini, he gave a smile and a bob of his head. Watching her briefly, he furrowed his eyebrows before he realized what the Princess was doing. Giving a nod to her, he turned about to face the opposite direction of the Princess. Even though she would still be wearing clothes, but it was still out of respect all in all.

Luckily, patience was a true virtue to the man. Once the Princess waded over to him, Dayle actually had to do a subtle double-take to her. His nose twitched a bit as he let out a bit of a frustrated sigh and looked out to the waters. Letting her speak, he breathed in deeply before looking back to her carefully and canted his head a bit in curiosity. Watching the foresty-green tendrils crawl about before the blossoms bloomed ever so slightly on the crown. There was a feeling she was hiding something, but it was completely unknown to Dayle at the moment. When she spoke of not being her true form, there was a little bit of a chuckle coming from him before a nod in both affirmation and appreciation of not wanting to reveal until they found out a way to get him back to his true form. Having his hands in hers, a small smile grew before having her hands once again be lightly bumped by his forehead.
"A creature of oddity does not need to be a bodyguard to a princess who has just special bonds over the plants and trees. I knew you were not of your true self. I do understand and respect, however, your wish of not having it revealed until I can be my true form and no more secrets thereafter."

Luckily for the man, the squeal was not ear-piercing at all; but he did watch her curiously when she clutched onto herself closely. When the Princess mentioned fish, there was a perk in his head. However, that was easily carried away when a set of a splash hit Dayle's chest. A blink. Another blink. Looking downwards for a moment before looking to the surprised Princess, his face--oddly--was stoic. With that, he placed his hands underneath the water before flicking upwards with his fingers; intentionally hitting towards her stomach. Of course, though, one hand rose as he sprinkled the water drops on top of her head. Well, at least Zucchini was nice enough to have him be tall. He then rose his other hand to do the same. "Destroy you!" Dayle's face contorted to where it seemed like he could be a mad man...or just downright odd...and his voice was placed in the playful demonic/I-am-going-to-rule-the-world kind of style.

The mad-man look contorted to a look of curiosity as Dayle quirked his mouth a little to the side in a pursing format. It was most unusual to see someone act so childish when they have so much burden to carry for practically the rest of her life. Of course he would never belittle her of that notion--plus, he did not know much of how regal folks should act other than what the books ever explained to him. Luckily, she does not seem to be in a Henry VII manner Then again, she could and she is just waiting for him to be the--wait. The Hippogryff's inner thoughts caught him completely off-guard to where it seemed like he was locked in a confused daze. It came to the point to where the shower of water knocked him out as he looked around in practically a frantic. "Princess!?" By the time he turned, it was too late. There will be blood spilled--in the metaphorical sense.

Looking upwards to the skies as he headed out from the lake, it may have been quite peculiar that Dayle was, indeed, laughing along with the Princess. Just like her, he too was completely soaked, but he did not seem to mind it at all. Had he been in his true form, that was the way to bathe--minus the actual water-fight and more of fishing for kelp or seaweed. Moving away from the young woman, he shook himself off like any animal would do with their fur or feathers; unfortunately, he just looked simply mad by doing so. Ruffling his hair off from the water as well, it already started to dry, but had a slight wave to it as well. His clothes, though--since he was polite to keep them on--were a different story. Clomping one hoof down harshly to remain steady, he rose the other leg and rung out the pant leg and that half of his shirt as much as he could. There was temptation to do it over the Princess, but she started to speak and nixed the idea.

Dayle always found it fascinating that those of Humanoid matter would care about family so much. Sure, he could have said the same for himself; but it was always in a clan matter. Everyone was family even if they were not from the same batch of eggs. They all knew who their kin was, but they all acted as one in the end. Finally settling beside the Princess, he looked at her curiously as she seemed to be a bit sheepish about the question. There was a look of ponder as he looked up to the skies briefly. Even though he missed the view from above more than anything, it oddly felt right that he was content here.
"What was your family like? All of them?" She often spoke fondly over her cousins and of her Uncle who once resided within the castle here--but she only spoke of them via reminiscence and not actuality. He finally looked back over to the young woman and furrowed his eyebrows a bit in curiosity and confusion.

Arm folded under her head to be used as a headrest, the long mass of silvery-grey hair that adorned the Princess' head laid softly underneath her, eyes pinned to the sky visible above them. Evita hadn't answered Dayle's question immediately, the one about her family, because she needed to ponder it for a moment. While she had said to ask her anything, she hadn't expected the family question. But soon enough, a wistful smile came to her face, her eyes remaining on the sky. "We're all the same; the Giladah clan." While her voice was soft, the quiet serenity of the glade and it's lake made it easy to hear her voice. "We're strong, we're survivors. Of course, we all show our strengths in different ways - either physically, mentally or emotionally, but we're survivors." Drawing a shaky breath, the thought of simply surviving almost ironic, she continued on. "My uncle, the one that moved me here without my parents knowledge is physically strong, but a comedian. He is serious when necessary, but a joker. He sent me here without my parents knowing for an extra safety barrier. He is an incredibly good man..." Turning her gaze to Dayle for a moment, she smiled and returned her gaze to the sky, smile still planted on her face.

"My mother, Kyari... She's emotionally strong. While we look nothing - none of my family look alike - she is everything to me. Same with my baby sister and brother. Mother... She's the strongest woman I know. Small, a proper lady, but so strong. I don't even know how they're doing, we've had to cut all contact with them, but I know that she won't go down without a fight. Same with Daddy. King Maximillian." Breathing out his name like she was in awe, Evita shut her eyes for a moment as she shivered with delight. "My dad taught us that without mental strength, you will never be as strong as you think you are. Kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness go hand in hand with patience, firmness and organisation." Feeling a little teary, the young woman's voice cracked just a little bit as she continued. "When my father defied our elders and banished the Lord that's after me, I had never felt so loved and protected in all my life. The Ancients live by rules, regulations and the old ways. They couldn't see that the old ways don't stand now. You cannot force marriage upon people for the sake of stability."

Sitting up suddenly, she plucked at her shorts, before pulling her hair over her shoulder, the hip-length silver mass curling and twisting around her fingers. Chewing her lip, the woman remained silent for a moment as she dwelled on her last few words. Of course, simply thinking about the reason why she left her home was still raw and painful, but she had to be strong, just like her family. Speaking of which... "My sister is the wild child." It was a few long moments before Evita finally spoke, looking over her shoulder at Dayle. "Wild auburn hair, wild brown eyes, she's the untapped bundle of energy that binds us siblings together. She's still young, not even mature yet, but I hope she never changes." Letting her emotions settle once again, Evita stayed sitting up, fingers still playing with her hair. "Then there's my brother. Usually a middle child gets pushed aside in favour of the eldest or the youngest... I sadly admit that this mess we're in doesn't help that point... But he found his own way to stand out. He was the only son to be born, and in human traditions it meant he'd be ruler. But not ours, so while I was destined for the crown, he was destined to lead our army." Turning her face into the sunlight again, the smile couldn't be wiped from her face. "My brother is strong in all the right ways. His physical strength doesn't outweigh his emotional strength, and that doesn't outweigh his mentality. He is a skilled swordsman, a magnificent horseman and is a gentleman if I have ever met one."

"My aunt is a regal woman through and through, and would rather pick up a sword than go down without a fight. I guess... In an odd way... Albert is family too. I've known him since I can remember. We know he's a sorcerer, but there must be more to him than that... He was half his current age when I was seeded... U-Umm... Being born from a tree.. Cannot really be called being born... So... So we use seeded." Blushing a little at something that could be considered interesting knowledge on how her kind are born, Evita found it as uncomfortable as talking about sex. But she continued on anyway. "Albert is like kin that is always there when you need them. They're not really related to you, but you can count on them to always be there and support you. I thought I'd have no-one here, but finding out that Albert was here was enough to bring me hope. And now you've joined the family. I have even more hope that my future and my families will be bright and positive." Grinning at Dayle as she hugged her legs, temple resting on her knees, she stayed like that for a moment before lying back down on the grass. Shutting her eyes, a relaxed smile came to her lips. "I hope you'll come to call us family in time, Dayle." She said softly, before quietly dozing off. It was in no time at all that the little dryad Princess was happily dozing in the sunlight, drawing energy from the sun just like plants would, the grass around her becoming lush and vibrant, while delicate and small wild flowers bloomed and thrived thanks to the sleeping Earthly woman.

Dayle was never one to push--unless asked to do so of course--so patience was bestowed unto the two of them. When the Princess finally spoke, it was a gentle tone; but it was still clear as if she was whispering it to his ear. She spoke of them as if the family were last of their kind--something that struck hard on him. He never knew whether or not if any of his family members searched for him--or moved on as they always did by the tenth year of perching. Looking up to the skies as well, he listened so carefully and yet lost in thought for a moment before giving his complete attention back to the Princess. Luckily, it was that moment when their gaze met; noticing the smile and yet there was some sorrow behind it.

Dayle's gaze did not linger much longer when the Princess looked up to the skies once again--as did he. He enjoyed stories--something that Zucchini made him realize. Stories were a way of learning things that came directly from a source--be it from long ago or only of recent. When she spoke of her father, he furrowed his eyebrows a bit. There was no one within his clan that he would dote on so fondly and willingly. There were no alphas or leaders as most tended to themselves and their mates and spawn once flight was given. Dayle had to admit to himself, though, if one hippogryff was in trouble; they all banded together as one. An unusual bond of a clan; but there was one all in all. When the Princess jolted upwards, Dayle was practically ready to pounce up and onto his feet; but it was the toying with her own hair that made him think otherwise. Seeing how she spoke of each of her family members so fondly and full of pride made only the man to wonder if he could find something so similar. Casually rubbing his bare hoof onto the ground--being carefully not to unintentionally break ground--he stopped and gazed at the back of her head when the Princess mentioned Albert followed by himself. A tilt of the head in curiosity made him prop himself up by his elbows to watch her in silence while her head rested upon her knees and soon enough back onto the grass.

As the Princess started to doze off, her last sentence echoed within Dayle's mind. Aside from Zucchini, he knew nothing of Humanoid emotions. If this, however, what it felt like to be part of a family, then he would embrace it joyously. Laying back down beside the Earthly woman, he placed his face close to the drifting hair of the Princess' and yet still a proper distance away from her face. Breathing in the scent of her hair, smiling softly as strands and locks tickled his cheeks lightly, he watched her carefully before his own eyes betray him from attention.
"I already do." It was just barely above an audible whisper before he, too, drifted off to sleep in the sunlight.

The sun was preparing to set for the day when Dayle finally awoke from the dreamless nap. It took him a moment of stretching and a couple of yawns to realize the Princess had been absent from the castle for longer than the two originally planned. Looking over to the Princess, his nose twitched a bit--already having a gut-feeling Albert would be ready to swipe at him for first letting the Princess leave the premises followed by not returning so soon and finally returning after the sun has settled for the day.

The softly whispered comment from Dayle was completely missed by the dryad, her senses already shut off thanks to the relaxing feeling that had sent her off to sleep. Evita had known that Dayle was lying at a respectable closeness to her, and didn't expect anything less from a male that had been hired to protect her, or from a creature of the Earth. The grass that had begun to turn full and green around the princess expanded itself to creep further around the lake, distributing the healthy energy equally amongst each blade. Clover flowers bloomed, and tiny wild flowers joined in, turning the lakeside into a beautiful meadow of lush grass and flowers. As the sun slowly began to set, the woman twitched a little in her sleep, the warmth beginning to slowly fade as the suns rays did. Dayle, though, was awake before the princess, and it was during his internal fretting period that the woman finally awoke, feeling mighty refreshed and quite energetic. She wanted to skip through the trees in her true form, to allow her energy to refresh and revitalise the flora to bloom and grow with pride. But, unfortunately, until she was safe, she couldn't do that, even if she was going to be as energetic as a kitten for a while now. Spying Dayle, the Princess smiled quite happily, before noticing the expression on his face, then the setting sun, and finally put two and two together. They were definitely out later than they had intended. Oops...

"Oh dear, we dozed off didn't we?" Her attitude made it seem like she wasn't too worried about how long they'd been away, but inside she was quite concerned. Alfred wouldn't care, but the guards were a pretty paranoid bunch. Getting up slowly, stretching herself out in an oddly fluid manner - like watching a sapling bend in a breeze - the Princess pulled her robes back on that had been hanging off the small tree and re-did her hair. Most of the thick train of silver was twisted back into the wooden crown atop her head, and only a thin sheet of silver hung down her back - not quite straight but not exactly wavy. "Guess we should head back... The guards will be anxious. Nothing I can't handle, though." Skirts tied tightly around her waist, robe hanging from her shoulders, Evita held out her hand for Dayle to take once he was ready, and the dash back to the castle began.

It was getting to the start of dusk when the duo returned to the hedge surrounding the castle. The trek had started out calmly, but as the light disappeared, worry took over Evita and she began to hurry. While she knew the forest better than anyone, and knew the flora would reveal if anyone was stalking her in it's depths, the looming fear of what the Lord could do to her if given the chance made her pick up her pace. Blades of grass and tiny leaves trailed from behind Evita, only to absorb into the ground under her bare feet, like they had never appeared. The faster she ran, the more the dryad seemed to change; the ends of her hair became tinged with green, and even her skin began to fade into a spring green colour from her fingertips and up; even her nose and cheeks had begun to change. The fact that she was running in a forest wasn't what brought on the change, but the fact that she had wanted to run and dance moments ago, and her body hadn't forgotten that desire. Her true nature wanted to come out, but she just couldn't let it right now. By the time they had reached the perimetre, Evita was back to normal, and was asking the hedge politely to let them back in the grounds.

Once they were in, instead of sneaking in through a back door, the Princess headed straight for the main entrance. She had her reasons for heading that way, and didn't exactly want to voice them. As the duo reached the large doors, her hand moved from Dayle's to rest in the crook of his arm again, a small grin on her face. Pushing open the doors, the Princess had been right - the guards were flustered, and didn't notice her walk in. Chuckling in an amused manner, Albert was nowhere to be seen, but she could hear a guard captain chewing out a few of his guards. As the rabble grew in the entrance hall, the Princess' demeanor changed and huffing, her cool facade broke. "Calm down!! I'm right here!" Everything seemed to stop, and a quiet fell so suddenly that Evita was sure she could hear the heartbeat of the guards. How amusing. "We went for a walk and I showed Dayle around the grounds. Do not fret, please. I'm clearly safe..." as the guard captain walked up to Evita, she could tell he was not happy, and while she now seemed guilty, the Princess was clearly trying to stand her ground before the taller male. "You left the grounds for longer than your stated time. Do you have ANY idea..." Cutting the guard off as he yelled, the shout had clearly hit a nerve with the calm, soft-spoken woman. "You should be aware who you address, Commander. I am not your child, so do not treat me like one. Be happy that we returned safe and tell your guards to calm down and rest. I'm going to get ready for dinner." Tugging Dayle's arm to urge him along, the Princess walked straight through the mayhem and headed for the sleeping quarters, a stifled sob sounding.

They didn't get far when Arthur appeared almost from nowhere, a book in hand. "Ah. Evita, there you are. I'm having a bit of trouble finding out anything about... Are you alright?" Noticing the guilty and rather upset expression, Albert's face fell into one of concern. "I yelled at the Commander because he treated me like a child..." Mumbling her words, the Princess felt sheepish, since she really did not like raising her voice. To other royals it would seem strange for someone to worry about yelling at a lower person, but to Evita, her guards were just extended family and deserved equal respect. Hearing Albert sigh in an understanding manner, Evita slipped her arm away from Dayle's. "Show him to his room, there's time before dinner if he wants to relax or walk around the castle to get to know it. I need some time alone..." Without a backwards glance, Evita made her way to the staircase and showed herself to her room so she could bathe and change for dinner. Watching her leave, Albert sighed again and motioned for Dayle to follow him. "She's a gentle soul, Evita is." His words were sudden and surprising, but they were heartfelt. "The Princess doesn't like to remind people of where they sit on the scheme of things, and would rather treat them like equals. These times are stressing for all of us, so do not worry if she acts out of character." Sending a smile over his shoulder to the hippogriff, Albert walked on.

"I know she took you to the lake, so don't stress. The guards only stress because if they didn't, it would show they didn't care. Evita has her moments where she'll just go off and lose herself in the world, just remind her if she gets too lost that she needs to return home." His words were cryptic at best, but Albert was just trying to hint to Dayle that if she began to drift away and space out, it was okay to bring her back to reality. Reaching the man's room, Albert bowed a little. "Dinner is in an hour, Evita will probably come find out before then. If not, don't be afraid to go find her." And with that, Albert left Dayle to whatever it was he wanted to do before dinner; explore the castle a little, relax in his room, bathe, anything. The flowers that Evita had created for Dayle were still lush and bright in his room, and they perked the place up considerably. Evita on the other hand, was soaking away her feelings in her bath, the scent of sandalwood calming her soul.
