The expression on Shanty's face was so deep, with such emotional depth that when the wistful, longing was broken by a glee so genuine and true to the doe, Dive had to laugh a full, hearty laugh. Shanty, oh, Dive could face dozens of kin who cared not for his existence with this doe at his side. A quick rub of cheek against cheek gave him little pause, except to smile wider at her easy camaraderie and affection.
"Hard to impress, I gather! Well, this not-so-broken bird will have to try his best then!" He gave chase in his own hopping gate and slid happily into the water, blinking away the splash of salt water with a happy chuckle before returning the favor with a splash of his own. Slapping the water at Shanty with a quick whip of his head.
Making ground, or rather water, quickly, Dive's eyes danced across the surface of the water, his limbs stilling in his search. With a triumphant smile, he struck down and emerged, a fish caught between his jaws. He threw a grin at Shanty. Your turn.

"Oh, very good!" she laughed, and his competitive grin was not lost on her. Shanty was hardly beyond utilising her natural advantages, her opponent be functioning with a handicap or no: with a wicked smile of her own, she plunged into the water, kicking hard with powerful limbs to push herself into the deep in search of bigger prey.
A second ticked by. Two. Three. The water she had roiled in her tumble healed over, the rippling of washing surf. Then all of a sudden, it exploded - and out she shot, but she was not alone: a massive Tarpon erupted with her, struggling mightily to slip where her jaws held firm for the moment about its fin.
"WH-OH!" she cried around the mouthful of flesh, fighting to keep her hold - a jerk of her head, a flash of blue eyes, an invitation to a trophy shared, dear Dive?

Oh, Shanty was spectacular. Dive watched as she disappeared under water, one moment to the next, before bursting back up, rising above the surface. She certainly rose to the challenge; the fish in her mouth was huge, bigger than his certainly, but he could not begrudge her success for it gave him too much joy. Dive grinned around the fish in his mouth and laughed, warbling in tone around the fish and tossed his head in assent. Of course.
He paddled his way smoothly to shore with laughing eyes the whole time. He was careful not to drop the fish, and when his hooves touched land, he settled himself once again on his land-broken legs. He missed the feeling of water surrounding him so completely already, but he nonetheless walked forward, steps as light as they could be under the circumstances. Setting down his fish next to his first, this one bigger than the last, he turned back to regard Shanty.
"I dare say, Shanty, that you are a most impressive song bird, but truly, a wonderful hunter!" Dive smiled happily, watching his playful companion.

She was still fighting with the tarpon as Dive made his pronouncement, dragging it ever closer to shore step after struggling step - but she might well have bitten off more than she could chew, the canny old fish refusing to capitulate without a fight.
"WHOAH!" she shouted, as it slapped momentarily free, before clamping down her jaws again - and again, it wrenched away - "This'll take two!" she gasped as quick as she could, catching at the writhing flesh before it could slip into the deeps.

Oh the fish was magnificent, they would certainly have it for a feast. So without saying a word, Dive gave a few, lurching steps until he slid easily back into the water with nary a splash. He moved forward with his strange kicks, no longer pulled down by land, and quickly clamping his jaws down on the tarpon.
He moved towards the shore, fighting the pull of the sea and the fish that wanted to return to freedom in the water, something that Dive could certainly relate to, but this was a meal, a feast for he and Shanty. So he pulled harder, refusing to let go. The fish could not struggle forever against two kin.

Indeed it could not. Kick by kick, they dragged it back to shore, the two of them together - till finally it lay with the rest of the pile, still thrashing tracks into the sand, but slowly waning in the cold sea wind. Shanty watched it fade, panting, before flashing a dazzling grin at her hunt-mate:
"We make quite a pair, you and I! Our haul should be quite enough, with this trophy."Amorpheous And finally. XD I'm so very sorry for my black-hole collapse, but I'm finally back RPing! Thank you so much for bearing with me. <3 I think we're very close to the end of this one!

How happy it was to be panting because of a shared triumph, how wonderful it was to look up from their catch and be met with a grin. Dive could not help be return it in equal, brilliant measure. It had been a blessing to have found the sea and even more so to have been able to fish with a doe as laughing and bright as the one before him.
Standing, still and balanced even on his mangled legs, Dive could not help by burst into song, it was what had led him to her to start with,
"Oh here we stand, on the sand, no longer in the water cool.
The ocean rings with unspoken things, as triumph rests at our hooves.
Lift voices high, let them fly, dusk is upon us now.
So feast with me, by the sea, oh songbird of the beach."Jun D Don't apologize! You've actually got me at a good time since my muse has been rather battered by busy-ness! I think if you wrap it up, we'll hit the 20 post minimum for breeding RPs. But argh, they need to meet again, they do because I love Shanty so much. Just reading through the RP makes me smile.

Oh, indeed that made her laugh, a ringing peal, painted bright with an affection that was already, despite their brief association, tide-deep. She pranced away from him now, but it would not be for long, trailing song as she loped into the sands:
"I'll fetch my dearest kin to bear our bounty in, and then my fisher-bird: I will, I will, I will."
ENDAmorpheous There we go! YESSS aaahh I love the two of them so much, I'm so glad you enjoy it too! ;A; *RUNS OFF TO BRIBE THREAD* I'm gonna try blue this month but would you like to plonk them in the CC thread as well? <3
