Her flower-laiden mane fell like a waterfall in even strokes and spilled over her front legs. Dahlia watched the sunlight beam travel across her hair as it swayed ever so slightly in the light breeze. She didn't have to wait but a few moments before the foal eagerly leaned in closer to hear this great secret of friends.
She grinned to herself but tried to pull together a serious expression when she turned her head to look the foal directly in the eye. A moment... one more... Slowly she extended, "What friends do need..." just one more momentary pause for dramatic effect... and all of a sudden there was a small ruffle of movement. The mare surprisingly deftly buried her nose into that shiny black hair and in one swift motion of extending both a leg and her muzzle managed to pull off something small and black. Grinning like a cheshire cat, the mare now looked at the foal with this small circle of leather hanging from her mouth and announced proudly, "...a Friendship Bracelet!" And she extended her neck toward the foal, offering the bracelet to him.

Zatarra's eyes widened as he listened to the little mare, who was similiar to him in height. Her bright pink coat were as bright as the flowers in the field. He watched her deftly untie a bracelet from her leg, as she spoke to him.
He felt something welling up in his chest, a tingly feeling in his heart as his eyes started to burn a little. She was giving him a bracelet of friendship. He felt his voice crack a little, "For me?"
He'd never gotten a gift from someone other than his parents or his family. This was something new and entirely unexpected. He didn't know what to do. He had nothing to give her and he felt bad. "Thank you," he voice cracked again.
"I wish I had something to give you," he said as she fastened the bracelet on his leg. He searched his brain, trying to think of something.

The little foal got all emotional, and the usdia had to contain herself to not let a tear of joy escape. She nodded when he asked if it was for him, and proceeded to fasten the bracelet on his offered ankle. It looked nice! Fit quite snugly, in fact!
Dahlia looked him up and down once then gave a solid nod of approval. Bringing herself to her hooves, the little mare stood up slowly so as not to disturb her lovely bouquet. "Well then, how about in return, you help me bring this," she nodded over her back, "...back to the hollow I've been sleeping in. I think getting this there in one piece would be a miracle in and of itself! I'm sure two friends can manage just such a feat. Together."

"Sure," he smiled back at her blinking back the stinging in his eyes. The bracelet gave a solid weight to his anklet where it rested. He didn't think he would take it off, not ever. He would remember her forever, no matter how many times they met--even if it was just this once.
He considered the flowers carefully, "Maybe we should build something to put it on and drag it?" He puffed out his little chest. "I'm strong, so I can drag it? What do you think?" He looked to her for an idea. Possibly, they could latch some wood together and make a pallet?
