"Entirely possible, with this place being as busy as it is at times." The fact that she seemed amused pleased him, the smile she wore suited her very well. He thanked Sylvie when she returned with a tray containing a teapot, cups and a little dish of honey. The woman excused herself to head back to the bar, she had glasses to wash and things to get ready for later once it got busy.

Eilaer filled both cups, sliding one to her. "You should try it without the honey first. I find it a touch too bitter without it, but it might not be the case for you." He added a little bit of honey to his own cup and stirred it around before taking a sip.

Likewise, Echo thanked the woman as she returned, and let Eilaer serve out the tea. "This place is indeed very busy... Many settled here once they realized the gods lived nearby." She was curious of how much he might already know, and with the opening, it was easy to tilt the conversation in that particular direction.

She took the test sip as indicated, and nodded. "No, you're right... It does need a touch of honey." Well, more than a touch in her case.

He nudged the small bowl of honey in her direction before answering her question. "I had heard as much when I first came here. I will admit I was skeptical, at least until I saw how alive this place was." The other areas he had visited were in various states of recovery, some had managed better than others. "It truly is beautiful. As for the gods themselves, well, I have never seen one so far as I know." He would be the first confess he had no idea what exactly sort of indication would mark a being as divine.

And of said honey, there was more than a small amount of it that made it's way to the tea. She had always preferred sweet things, after all.

"You might very well have seen one, and not known it." She was unable to hide the amusement from her voice. "Those who can often do their best to blend in when they come to the market during the day... Otherwise it is rather easy to end up overwhelmed. And if you've ever seen someone look particularly strange... Well, you might have seen a god and not been aware of it." Xun Jiang came to mind immediately. Poor dear. The Dragon King was as up there in strange without ending up in the truly creepy territory.

"I've come to discover over the years that 'strange' is a very relative term." He had run across people that thought of him as strange- even without his other little 'issue' coming to light. To most he was just an odd looking, light boned elf with wings. "It is a believable notion, though, if said gods did not wish to be disturbed."

The winged elf sipped his tea again. "If it is not too forward a question- how is it you seem to know so much about the gods?" Perhaps it was just common knowledge that he had not been around long enough to acquire...

Echo had to admit that he had a point. There were creatures stranger still than the forms of most of the gods. Overall they nearly all preferred the rough humanoid shape, and she was no exception to that. Even the Dragon Kings themselves were more... human than they once were. At least that was what the little memory she had told her.

The now-sweetened tea cup was brought once more to her lips. Ah, yes, much better like this indeed. At his question, she could not help but quirk a little smile.

"If I told you that you were talking to one, would you believe me ?" Well, she was not out to trick him at all, so Music decided to cut right to the point.

Thankfully, for his own dignity, Eilaer had not been drinking when she asked that. If he had been he probably would have ended up snorting the tea. A blonde eyebrow quirked, a thoughtful expression crossing his face for a moment before it eased back into its usual smile. "If we were anywhere but here, I might."

Well, if she was a goddess then he would like to know who he spoke to. "So, who are you really, Echo?"

Well, she had waited for him to not be drinking for a reason... Just by the face the elven bard had made, it was easy to tell that there would have been tea everywhere if she had not.

A waste of good tea, surely.

"Exactly what I told you. My name is Echo." Well, one of her name, at least. "As for what I represent... Well, I am quite certain you already know." She smiled again.

"Music." Eilaer whispered it, not realizing he had spoken aloud. It was the only thing that seemed to fit, for one who could make a harp's strings sing as she had.

"Lindora." Songbird. It had been his private name for her for years, only used when he offered silent prayers to her. The awe would be obvious in both his expression and voice.

She knew that name.

Yes, she knew that name - it was one among many thar she heard from mortals as they called for her, prayed to her. That one name was special, however, in that she had only ever heard one voice use it, among the countless that she heard, the countless that sustained her.

"...That was you ?" She had all but frozen for a moment. Well, she certainly had not expected that !

"Yes. It means 'songbird'." He smiled, seeming a bit sheepish as he admitted this. "It seemed fitting, for the one with the loveliest voice in all the world."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:55 pm

"You were the only one to call me that name... It made me wonder who you were, and where you were." She could not help but fluster a bit at the compliment. It had been so long since anyone had told her something like that...

Because you lost yourself in a role that did not fit you. Echo reminded herself.

"You were closer than I thought all along." She continued, amused by that fact.

"The only one?" Pale green eyes went a bit wide at that.

Well, that certainly was something.

"Yes. The only one." It was more common than Eilaer might think, for individuals to make up their own names for the forces they prayed to. Sometimes these names spread into greater uses as communities were formed, and sometimes they did not, vanishing into the ether with the mortals that spoke them.

"Then I am glad to be able to put an end to your wondering, Lindora." His wings stretched a bit and resettled as he relaxed, sipping his tea again. "I wander off to different places from time to time, but I shall always try to find my way back here- since I know for certain this is where you dwell." After all, if he was not out doing her work he could think of no better place to be.
