A small smile crept up on Keilana at Animah's reaction about eating the bug. Maybe cause the conversation was slowly starting to feel like a real one rather than a forced one. Keilana didn't even realize she was smiling until she went to speak,
"Yeah..that was...my reaction too at first. But when your hungry...you make do with what you can get." Keilana replied giving a shrug slowly an reluctantly dropping her arms down at her sides, she felt a bit exposed like this but she was finally relaxing..somewhat.
"....I am sure you would learn...if you needed to..." She began shifting feeling as if she should ...offer to help her out if she wanted to, but she was so unwilling to open that door. So...unwilling to risk being hurt again. Luckily Animah had moved onto another topic so she had time to mull on it.
"Excited?.....Not really. This is just another venture to discover things to trade...new food to eat...I mean I guess moving across land can be exciting...and well we don't really have to be sad about leaving..home...there is nothing there."

Aminah bit her lip at the mention of being sad to leave home. She was disobeying her parents and had plenty of reasons to be sad. But the good outweighed her guilt.
“Well, I think it’s going to be great! I haven’t really explored much,” she put a hand to her face as if divulging a secret others might hear. “Except the one time I ended up in Jauhar by accident.” Her parents still didn’t know about her explorations into Jauhar and didn’t want anyone to hear her say it out loud, though no one was within earshot except for Keilana’s spitorog. Aminah put her hand back down and continued speaking. “I’m really excited to see what else is out there in the world besides sand and heat.”
Aminah rubbed her arm. She wore a shirt that covered her more than the others because of the sun. Her skin was paler than the others in her tribe and it was because of the shifter part of her that she didn’t tan like them. She just burned up and turned red. The day’s events already left her with a rosy tint across her nose and cheeks.
“I’m just happy that I’m going somewhere and with the others.” She smiled at Keilana. “And hopefully I’ll have somebody I know that I can talk to while we travel.”

Keilana was starting to think that this one...was the one who needed a friend not her. From the sounds of it Animah seemed really sheltered, didn't know a THING about living on her own or living off the land. In all aspects of the group Animah was quite possibly the weakest link.
Listening to her Keilana actually felt a bit sorry for the girl, she was..just happy to be away and out and meeting people and here she went raining or rather monsooning on her parade. It would take a completely oblivious person to not realize that ...despite what Animah was doing it was HER looking for a friend. Someone she could talk to someone she would feel comfortable being around.
This was dangerous, for even if Keilana believed she could keep up the barrier between them, accept the 'friendship' as it were as just a inconvenience on her part the more she hung out with Animah the more she found herself growing fond of the girl.
"Ah...well maybe you should talk with my brother then, he could use a good woman to take him down a couple notches." Keilana chuckled, setting Animah up with Jac almost seemed too good a ploy.

Aminah laughed at the thought of being set up with Keilana’s brother. She’d never met him, and didn’t know anything about him, but Keilana’s laugh made it seem like it would be a funny idea and had Aminah laughing with her.
It seemed to Aminah that Keilana was actually starting to like her a little, and not just think of her as some air-headed annoyance. Though, really, what did Aminah know yet? She still didn’t know much about Keilana, but she knew she already liked her; enough so to want to latch onto her on their adventure into the unknown.
She returned to her thoughts about Keilana’s brother. “So, what’s your brother like? Do you guys get along?” Aminah lifted her hand in a sort of gesture towards the sibling relationship. She didn’t have any siblings herself, and she really didn’t know what the typical brother and sister would be like. Would she like having an older brother? Or would she prefer a younger brother she could pick on? She decided to ask Keilana her opinion, since Aminah didn’t have a clue herself. “If you could choose, would you rather have an older or younger brother?”

Keilana gave a hmming sound as if there were too many words to describe her brother though all of them ...seemed rude to say out loud. After all they were siblings and it was their nature to fight it seemed .
"Eeeeh he is bossy, seems to think he knows best about EVERYTHING. He tells me its dangerous to go into the Jahaur forest and then he goes in himself...so he is a bit of a hypocrite." She continued as she listed off many more descriptive words only a sister would use.
Pausing she smiled again and then shook her head, kicking a stone near her foot lightly away.
"Despite all that he is ...very caring, can be compassionate..loyal...all in all I would trade him for anything in the world. After all he is all I have left." Keilana's voice trembled at the last part though she cleared her through and looked away from Animah as if there was nothing wrong.
"Psh...I would much rather have a younger brother...then I could boss HIM around." Keilana chuckeled, "Do you have any siblings?" Keilana turned the subject onto the girl wondering if she was all alone in more ways than one.

Aminah listened to Keilana’s description of her brother with envy. She wanted someone she could depend on and be irritated with but still love them.
She giggled at Keilana’s answer to her preference in siblings. Keilana was thinking along the same lines as Aminah, though Keilana seemed like she would be much more rough and demanding of her hypothetical younger brother than Aminah would ever be. Aminah didn’t know the first thing about bossing people around, but maybe that would change if she had a sibling. Maybe she would actually be a bossy person if she grew up that way.
“No, I don’t have any siblings. I’m all by myself. Well, I mean, I have my parents, and my grandparents, but my mom was an only child… and I don’t know my dad’s side.” Her eyes flickered away for a moment as if she was a little embarrassed at having no contact with her father’s side of the family. Her mind turned to the story her parents told her about the shifter village’s reaction to her parents being together. “So, I don’t really have any cousins I could boss around either.” She laughed a little with her last sentence; it was a pretty weak laugh, but she was trying to make light of the situation she was in. It wasn’t in her nature to hold her solidary lifestyle against anyone else. She had made due for this long without complaining, though she did try to convince her parents to give her a new baby when she was younger.

Keilana listened and felt guilt starting to creep up on her, she really shouldn't of given Animah such a hard time earlier...but Keilana was just...not ready for friends or at least she didn't think she was. But she would be nice for now, try and...keep that wall up while she did it too.
"You know Animah why don't Jac and I show you how to ...you know forage? At least then if you get separated for a little big you could survive. We could train together for a bit and get you toughened up!" Keilana announced suddenly really liking this idea. Perhaps she wouldn't feel so bad about Animah's lack of independence if she could help her gain one.
"What do you think?" Keilana asked daring to even use a little enthusiasm in her tone. Perhaps this way she could convince Animah it was a grand idea.

Aminah brightened up at the thought of not only meeting Keilana’s brother Jacinthus, but also at learning to fend for herself. She thought about her few earlier exploits where she had met others only through either getting lost or not paying attention to where she was going. Maybe if she learned to track a little bit she could learn enough to not get lost so often and to choose whether or not she wanted to meet new people. Though with Aminah’s disposition, more likely than not, she would meet new people anyways. The only difference being, she would know they were there first.
She smiled widely at Keilana. “I would love, too! I can only imagine it would be very handy with our trip later.” She clasped her hands together in excitement. “I can’t wait to get started!”
She beamed at Keilana. “What kind of stuff would I be learning? Would I have to kill an animal?” The thought of killing a living thing dampened her mood slightly, but she quickly bounced back. She had to eat every day, right? And on this trip she would be alone; her parents wouldn’t be making food for her then. She would just have to be thankful for everything that gave its life and not waste it.

Keilana wondered what kind of expression Animah would give her if she told her YES she would have to kill an animal. Though she wasn't going to be so cruel as to declare that right at the moment. After all she wasn't even sure what critters were edible here yet.
"Not yet. I will show you how to set snares and traps...but those can take awhile to get right...so I doubt we will have to worry about you catching anything. " Keilana mentioned offhandedly before she thought on what else they could show her.
"We could show you the basic's of tracking....stalking..you know stuff you'd need to know. Like where to find water...the places you'd most likely find food. That kind of stuff...perhaps whip you into shape too...get some running and climbing done." Keilana listed off as she would have to discuss with her brother what else they could do.

She sighed in relief at Keilana’s answer. “That’s good. I don’t think I could go through with it yet. Not yet at least. I just need some stepping stones first, you know, like pick some plants, work on my aim at trees… umm… kill worms maybe?” She’d never really aimed to kill anything in her life, except for feeding bugs to spitorogs and things like that. And she wasn’t even the one to personally kill it. The spitorogs took care of all the work on that one.
“But… snares and traps sound good!” With Aminah’s inexperienced touch, no doubt Keilana was right and it would take ages just to make a snare decent enough to catch something; which just postponed hurting anything even further. “And tracking is a definite go.” She smiled brightly. Tracking would hopefully make Aminah more attentive.
Aminah pinched her stomach; she wasn’t exactly in great shape and certainly didn’t have a lot of stamina when it came to running. She did like climbing though. “I guess I could use the exercise,” she laughed.

Kill...worms? A mental image of Animah trying to kill a worm and the thing kicking her butt came to mind. Keilana's face had already become deadpan as she resisted the urge to laugh.
"Ah...no ..unless you want to feed the spitorog...I don't think killing worms would be necessary. " Keilana explained as she wondered...just what path Animah had planned traveling in her future. Keilana was going for a brute...her brother an archer...what was Animah, sweet bubbly Animah going to be?
"Hey...what profession do you plan on becoming Animah?" She inquired, Keilana's earlier irritation seemed to have taken a back step as she was now actually enjoying her time with the bubbly girl.

Aminah didn’t have to think about her answer, since she was already sure what she wanted to be. She’d been sure for a while now.
“Well, I’m planning on being a mage.” She smiled. “I want to be able to use magic, and maybe even be able to help people along the way.” As a mage, Aminah wouldn’t have to get down and dirty if she ended up having to fight. She could do it from afar and hopefully just help those on her side. She wanted to be more of a supporting role rather than being front and center. It suited her better.
“I also want to help all of us be able to keep gardens.” She smiled even larger. Aminah had a fondness for plants, and always wanted a garden of her own. If she could hone in on some magic abilities, she could summon enough water and use enough earth magic to keep some small gardens with edible plants so food would be more stable in the village. It would mean there would be less of a need to forage at least.
She turned the question back on Keilana. “What do you wanna be?” Aminah knew enough about Keilana to know that she probably wasn’t interested in using magic. She looked more like the beat-em-up kind.

Keilana rolled the idea around in her head a moment, a magic user seemed like an appropriate fit as any since Keilana wasn't able to figure out something on her own. Everything just seemed too violent for the bubbly girl. A mage seemed...weird but so did everything else.
"You know a mage still has to hurt people..." She stated a bit off handedly, though she supposed that wasn't true either. Animah could be a defensive player... shields and what not with magic. At the mention of gardens she had a moment laspe and had no idea what she meant by that.
It clicked when she realized Animah probably hoped to specialize in water magic. Ah that would make more sense.
"Who me?" She inquired pointing to herself in a comical fashion, "I want to be a brute, I am pretty good with a branch...I think I could wield a hammer."

Aminah grabbed a hold of her upper arm, like she was flexing. “I think I could do it if it were to protect others.” She smiled at Keilana and laughed. She meant the statement, but presented it as a joke, partly because she almost didn’t believe it herself and the other part because she liked making Keilana laugh. It was better than the frown she had on when they first met.
The thought of Keilana swinging a large branch wildly came to mind at her mention of being a brute. It made Aminah laugh even harder, though she thought that the role seemed about on target. “A hammer? So I’m going to take a guess and say that you don’t exactly shy away from fighting?” She giggled. She thought about what a hammer would feel like from the bad end of things and was glad that she planned to help from afar.

Keilana did actually chuckle at Animah's flexing, it was a comical sight so see that was for sure. Animah was growing on her, and she wasn't sure if this was a good idea but it was far too late now to back peddle.
"Yeah well...I don't shy away from the gross, I have to live don't I? And that means we catch, kill , gut and skin our food. I'm beyond squeemish about that sort of stuff." It was an off handed remark but in all honesty no matter how she phrased it killing a person was an entirely different thing than an animal she intended to eat.
Stretching she looked to Animah before waving her towards her, "We should probably head back don't you think? The others will wonder what became of us."
