Well, in my main art, Isshin Ryu Karatedo, the highest you can go is nanadan (7th degree black), because our Grandmaster and founder of the style, Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei, passed away crying before anyone was promoted past 7th. But our current grandmaster, Advincula Sensei, can promote people past him, because he was the best student of Shimabuku Sensei. In my most local school there is a godan (5th degree) and a rokudan (6th degree) above me. Other than that I am the highest rank at yondan (4th degree).

MashuRenshi LELIE I think your school is unique in that aspect; the whole dying thing to be judan Actually in a lot of traditional styles 10th dan is awarded post-humously (after death). In some when the 10th dan passes away the title goes to his son or senior student.

And yeah, we wear black because it's a stereo type of ninja sweatdrop Either that, or because it's better for night training at camp. White shows xd

It's very tough and thick. Very annoying when it's new. crying I always have my jacket sleeves rolled up, because then it's not in the way when I punch or something. And it makes less sound sweatdrop
