The green leopardess sniffed the air as they approached the little stream that babbled happily through the plains. It wasn't terribly wide at this point and she was sure that if the heat continued it would end up turning into a mere trickle, if not disappear completely. It was a good thing she arrived when she did. Water came and went as quickly as the rains did this time of the year. One second there's a nice, healthy pond and the next it's just some wet earth.

Graen'Tae's words stung a bit, but she tried not to let it show. She just nodded and said a soft 'all right' before stopping beside the stream to drink. She knew some felines - males especially - would get very upset if a female offered to do something for them. Whenever she ran across animals like that, she'd quiet her normally happy personality to one a bit more reserved. It seemed this was to be the case with however long she remained in the other leopard's presence.

After lapping up what she was sure was half the stream, she lifted her head and gave a content sigh. It wasn't very cool water, but it was water all the same. The air was starting to cool down now that the sun had just set, leaving only the brilliant colors behind in the sky to light the remainder of the day. Soon it would be the stars and the moon leading her onward and possibly helping her in catching a midnight meal.

"Thank you for bringing me here," she said as she turned to look at her companion. "It's getting to be a bit late, though. I wouldn't want to keep you any longer from your pride." She needed to press on as well. Staying around here probably wasn't the best of ideas, if Graen'Tae's warning had any merit to it.

He gave a shrug. "I'm actually not going back to my pride yet." he had just left, and was expected to be gone for a few days at least. He knew exactly where it was, at least the general direction. He'd find it again easily enough. He watched her with a blank expression, studying her, sort of. He wondered how someone could see so happy all the time. He had rarely seen that, especially as he grew up. He almost envied her because of it.

"I'm sorry if I offended you." He said finally. He wasn't keen to apologizing, but sometimes it was needed, and she seemed to need it. She was just like him, in away. She'd probably never been around someone who seemed so rude. He flicked his tail and sat down for a moment. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and took in the sounds of the night. Bugs were chirping in the night.

"But if you wish to leave, I'm not stopping you." He didn't think he was cut out for taking advantage of others. He had tried, but it failed and his mind got the better of him. Maybe if he had ran into someone who was stupid and weak he would have not felt as bad.

The apology surprised Baridi enough to make her look over at her companion, ears pricked and tail completely still. It certainly didn't seem like something her dour guide would say. Then again, she had only known him the past hour or so, if that. Perhaps he just took a long time to wake up and was grumpy while doing so. Or maybe he was just having a bad day.

"Oh no, you haven't offended me," she said gently. "I was afraid I had offended you. I know that I can be a bit...annoying at times. Or at least, that's what others have told me. So when I pick up on little hints that my walking is too bouncy or I'm talking too much, I settle down to hopefully not offend or annoy further."

She nodded just a bit as if this were commonplace. Really, she met more friendly felines than not, but there had definitely been enough for her to learn that not everyone wanted to smile and laugh with her. "I should be going, yes. I'd like to put some distance between myself and your pride if it's as rough as you make it sound. No offence to you, of course. You've been very helpful and I've enjoyed our talk."

Baridi smiled just a bit and bowed her head in thanks. "Perhaps you should take an extended stay away from your pride and see if there's any in the area you'd prefer to be with. You don't seem the type that would want to be in a place like that."

He did laugh that time. It was more like a snicker than a laugh, however. Him leaving the pride forever... No... That wasn't going to happen. All he knew was that pride, and all he would ever know is that pride. Even leaving the place felt wrong, but he was told he had to do it at least once, and this was the once. He let his tail bounce up and down on the ground. "I don't think any place could handle me." He said with looking at her with his serious face again. As much as he'd like to think he didn't belong, he did.

"It's the only place I belong." He said finally. "You should go before it gets too much darker, I'm sure there will be some scouts coming out this way." He said to her with a shrug. He wasn't sure about this whole meeting thing, but maybe if he met a few others he'd get a hang of being friendlier, but he had a doubt. What else was he suppose to say when leaving another? He didn't do goodbyes, but then again, he wasn't good at hellos either.

Bowing her head slightly in recognition, she allowed Graen'Tae to speak. He seemed very set in his ways and she knew better than to push further. Hopefully some day he'd explore a bit more around him, but it was pretty obvious he was comfortable in the life he had.

"Then I wish you the best of luck," Baridi said as she lifted her head. "Thank you again for showing me to the water. I'm not sure I would have made it very far without it." She turned to look in the direction she was traveling and hoped that there was some green Eden not too far. She could make it a few more days now, but after that she'd be in a rather tight spot.

She glanced back at the brown leopard with a friendly smile. "It's been a pleasure, Graen'Tae. Good fortune and good evening." She bobbed her head once more before heading off, following the stream to the west, putting a little pep in her step. She thrived in the night time after all. Perhaps she'd be able to find a quick meal.

He watched her go, and silence would soon once be eager to return to his ears, like a long awaited lover. Until then, he just watched her walk off without a sound to leave his mouth. He didn't want to hold her up anymore than he had already. He kind felt that perhaps he was a bit of a thorn in her side from their meeting, maybe less than he was actually thinking, but it still crept to mind. He had thought long and hard about possibly leaving Bhanu, but every time it came to not belonging anywhere.

He signed, and let it pass. Tomorrow another day, another adventure out in the open world that wasn't calling his name.
