Attacking Tyeth
Fortin also hit at Tyeth, attempting to strike the Bronze's fragile eyes, left open by his attack on Fortosk. He felt the strike connect and let out a trimphant "HA!" Maybe that would make him think twice about trying to attack the whers from the air.

Defending from Stromath
Timisk shrieked when the other big big bad unexpectedly attacked him, and ducked, trying to defend himself even incrementally from the dragon's sharp teeth and claws. Unfortunately, that's all it was incrementally.

Attacking Stromath
Timill's alarm had been what triggered Timisk noticing the other Bronze attacking. Where the wher had been distracted by Tyeth, prepared to attack when he swept low again, Timill had been paying better attention to his surroundings. He saw the other Bronze swoop down and tried to distract him, but with little effect.
"Sharding dragons! Leave him be!" Timill shouted, lashing out at whatever part of Stromath he could reach.
Dirty dragonriders!

Attacking Taith
Yekara didn't hear Taith's taunt, but she did see that the dragon had not yet attacked. Perhaps those well-ingrained instincts were protecting Yekara, for now. She glared up at the Green's rider for a moment and then kicked out again.
"Come down and fight like a woman!" Yekara shouted up.
Yekarask! Again! Attack again!

Yekarask
Attacking Taith
Yekarask could have figured out to keep attacking without her handler's order, but he was all the more driven with the second instruction. He reared back to lash out again, but he felt Gneisth's claws rake across his back as he did so. The pain caused him to let out a warble, but he finished the move, letting his claws slash into her side. After all, her taunt had been unfair and mean. He would show her that he was just as capable a fighter as his handler.

T'rut and Brown Slotath (NPCs not for consideration)
A-dragonback/Flying and Attacking Stromath
Far above the dragons now engaged in battle, a Brown appeared, very quickly taking stock of the situation. On his back, his rider was doing the same, and he nodded.
Like we thought. Weyr-side dragonriders. They'll kill all of the whers in no time, and I doubt the handlers can withstand the dragons if they happen to kill one of the riders.
They would not have to withstand it for long, Slotath replied. Should we intervene?
Yes. Go for the Bronze with the striped wings. Let's keep one of them distracted, at least. Maybe then the whers will have a chance. But don't keep fighting if you think you're going to end up getting killed. I don't support these handlers enough to really risk our lives for it.
Understood.
The Brown dropped suddenly toward the Bronze, silent with his claws stretched out, reaching to tear at the delicate, striped wing membranes.

Tyeth
Flying; Attacking Fortosk
The handler's attempt to blind Tyeth scored only a glancing blow along the dragon's cheek. It was hardly worth noting to the Bronze, but it did cause him to return to hover above the Green and her handler much more quickly. He could not hurt the human, but he would get rid of the wher, so that his rider and the other riders could safely dismount and take care of the handlers however they saw fit.
With the memory of Suunath finishing off the Green from the first battle, Tyeth struck out with a sharp blow of his foot. He would maul this one as badly as the first, only this time it would be he who finished it off.

[Stromath- Attacking Slotath in the Air]
Another one! Stromath had hit his mark on the wher, but shortly after had been nearly struck by yet another brown on the traitor's side. This was beyond reprehensible. Why do you fight against us? he demanded with a roar, striking back with his own claws before flying upward for a bit more altitude. If he was to be needing to fight against their own kind, it would be best to stay out of reach of those on the ground.

[Taith- On the Ground, Attacking Yekarask]
"I'll be glad to come hand you your a** as soon as you lot send away your whers!" Keela called back from atop of Taith, seriously considering dismounting sooner in spite of orders. Though if her green would actually attack the blue and stop acting as target practice already, that'd be great. Oh the pitfalls of a giant ego...

Ok, that scratch actually did smart quite a lot. Play time was over. Ignoring the handler still trying to attack her, Taith launched herself at the enemy wher, all teeth and claws. Unfortunately, it seemed her opponent was far more nimble than her, and he was able to easily dodge. The green let out a furious roar, voicing her displeasure at his dodge. Oh, it was SO on.

[Gneisth, Flying & Attacking Yekarask]
While the brown dragon was pleased his hit had struck the wher, he was far less pleased to see the wher continue to attack Taith. Taith's counterattack did not connect, but it gave Gneisth another chance to try to rake with his claws.
While Gneisth seemed more concerned for his green wingmate, B'nen's attention was part on Keela (good, she was staying on her dragon, even with the taunts thrown between her and the handler) and more on the brown dragon who'd entered the fray to attack his twin brother's bronze. Hurry up with this wher, so we can help K'en!

Attacking Tyeth
When Tyeth's next pass missed, Fortosk hissed and reared back.
Get the dragon you can reach, Fortosk.
With her handler's counseling, Fortosk turned and looked for another target. No enemy humans on the ground... but the Green dragon was. Fortosk took a minute to look up and observe the Bronze and Brown dragon fighting, then looked back ahead of her for Tyeth. Who was coming right at her.
She braced herself and launched up, into his attack, aiming to land her claws in his chest or neck.

Forton almost growled himself when he saw the Bronze coming back and used Fortosk's successful attack to try getting in a hit of his own.

Attacking Tyeth
With his new target taken away by the air, Timisk turned his attention to the next best thing: the original target. He ran forward and attacked Tyeth, rearing back to get enough height to reach the Bronze's stomach, where he couldn't kick back.

Changing Targets; Attacking Taith
He was never going to reach the Bronze, and this touch-and-go attacking was grating on his already mostly-frayed nerves. Timill took the option Forton and Fortosk had not and ran over to engage Taith. He set himself away from Yekara and Yekarask; he would force the dragon to choose, and then maybe her rider would come down and fight face-to-face.
He beat against the Green's side, trying to draw her attention. "Come on, you great beast!"
