The Plague seated before the doctor could only stare. Was one really supposed to be so concerned with the future? He certainly had no plans of dying any time soon, and as far as he knew, there was no requirement for effort to continue life as it was.

"I have never considered tasting an insect since my change, no." The other questions went unanswered. Fillin looked to his Grimm, who caught his eye with no apparent contempt. He had done more or less absolutely nothing since his change... pretty much less. He had been a good destroyer of bug-plague as a bat, but hadn't adjusted to fit since his wings had been removed. The poor little dear felt a moment of almost... was that guilt? No, certainly not. Plagues weren't meant to have jobs. They weren't meant to do anything but be hated, as far as he knew... but then there was the ninny, and his co-ninnies. They seemed to be doing something entirely useless but somewhat helpful, maybe. He could, uh... well, it was a farm. He could...

... but he was so small and useless...

The Plague's eyes met the doctor's again, his expression furrowed.

"Well, if you ever eat an insect, I would appreciate your thoughts on the experience," Amory concluded gravely. He waited for Fillin to respond to his next question, but the Plague seemed genuinely perplexed, and after a period of silence that was punctuated only be increasing signs of Rene's impatience, he butted in at last.

"There's no need to know right now what you want to do with yourself, Fillin, but it wouldn't hurt to think about it. If you have any ideas, you can let me know, and I'll be sure to give you whatever aid the Council can offer." He looked up at Shati. "As for your excellent Grimm, I can begin to recommend her to whichever department she might be interested in speaking to if she wants a role in the Council." Rene coughed and a small list emerged, written in meticulous handwriting. "I thought perhaps that botany might be a good start, but if the two of you feel that you have talents better invested elsewhere, I'll send note to the proper authorities." Shrugging, he put the list aside.

"Of course, we don't expect all Grimms to seek to become academics! If you wish to help the Council in some more practical way, we'd be equally glad to have you in whatever capacity suits you best. Several of our Grimms seek out Plagues whose Grimms have been killed or else abandoned for us, while others act as messengers. Still others seek plagued people in the city to isolate them before they spread infection. Grimms and their Plagues have helped both the Council and the city of Gadu greatly since they emerged in Panymium. And even in the Council, I believe that Rene and his peers have established a stunted parliament."

"For politically-minded excitos," Rene established hastily, looking doubtfully at Fillin. Amory ignored him.

"Is there anything else which I can help you with for now, or would you like to mull things over?"

((I am SO SORRY for the delay on this. Now that I'm almost done with senior year, it shouldn't happen again.))

Fillin's chest puffed again at the insinuation of the ninny. What, he thought a bat couldn't be 'politically-minded,' whatever that actually insinuated? The little purple ninny was probably afraid, really. He was all... brightly-colored and astute. With a glare, he decided that the parliament was specifically his to destroy, given the opportunity.

It was Shati who responded to the Counselor, although she gave her Plague a worried glance first. All they had to do was survive the last few minutes without a fight. "I, um," Shati began, and then shook her head to clear it as she turned back to the Counselor, "Botany. Botany could be interesting, although I must admit that my farming knowledge is generally dictated toward food items worth selling. Back in Uque, I studied herbalism and traditional medicine beneath some of the higher-ranking women in my tribe. Perhaps if I could be of some use there? When there is something to try natural remedies upon, anyway." As far as she knew, they separated infected people from the rest of the populace lest the plague take more lives.
