Ginkgo was egged on by the pain that flared as his flesh was torn. His own, powerful back legs kicked and bucked as he fought for purchase over the larger buck. He wasn't going to give in just because of a little pain. He'd suffered worse. He'd never live down being beaten by Pitchweed. He was owsla, Frithrah!

Wildwood stretched leisurely and went to munch another tender shoot when the sound of a scuffle wafted towards her. She sat up, blinking her bicoloured eyes warily. It wasn't elil, too small... Embleer Frith, her brother was at it again, wasn't he? The doe snorted and groomed an ear, determined to stay out of this one, regardless of what her brother had to say.

She was swayed, however, when a tan furred doe was suddenly very much in violation of her personal space.

"Is he picking fights with an owsla, again?" She almost groaned as she hopped towards the sounds of the scuffle. Hopefully they hadn't attracted any further unwanted attention of hungry predators.

"Pitchweed!" She hissed with annoyance as she aimed to break her brother away from the smaller buck. There was a reason her brother wasn't amongst the elite of the warren.

Pitchweed's teeth opened wide and he grabbed the other's cheek fur, squirming, trying to get out from under the smaller buck with little luck. He almost looked rabid with a touch of foam in the corners of his panting mouth.

"You know he is..." Meadowsnip mumbled to the female she did not care to be friends with. She kept one eye on the twin- though they didn't really look alike except for the eyes- as they went to the side of the fight. "That really is enough, Officer. You've proven your point..."

Pitchweed stopped the moment he heard that familiar, scolding hiss. She sounded like mother when she did that...mm, that was another beautiful rabbit he coveted. Shame she'd been picked off by a hawk. His teeth released the cheek and he tucked his paws in, giving a final kick and trying to escape to her side. "Yes, Wildwood? My lushest flower." He gave that greasy smile and set both eyes on her.

The doe looked less than amused as her eyes mirrored his own and a firm scowl marred her lovely features. Why did this situation never surprise her? Oh right. She knew her brother well, including his habits, just as he knew her undying loyalty to him, whether or not she chastised him.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed? Or worst?" She spat as she motioned for her brother to follow. As much as she liked to bother other rabbits, she knew better than to pick at the warren's elite. Maybe he'd get that into his brain one day, if he ever made room and quit chasing tail.

Ginkgo shook himself out as Pitchweed backed away, looking smug and victorious as the other buck answered his sister. Rivulets of blood welled up where he had been scratched and bit, but he otherwise didn't suffer too much. He hoped he'd given the dark buck a good enough thrashing, but he somehow doubted it. Even if he had him pinned and beaten this time, he'd come back and do it again when he thought owsla weren't watching, of that he was sure.

Pitchweed whimpered as he hopped beside his sister, dramatically carrying one paw and walking with a dramatic limp. "Oooh...it HURTS! It HURTS!" He leaned on her and pouted. "Ohhh, make it feel better, Wildwood. Please? With those little licks, like Ma used to do." He was going to get tail tonight, whether it was with a new doe or not.

"My my, what an awful mess." Meadowsnip chided, approaching with a gentle hop. She began to nurse Ginkgo's shoulder and neck the way Pitchweed was begging Wildwood too, though her tongue was softer spoken and gentle. She was not expecting anything in return as she cleaned the blood and dirt off his coat.

"I..should thank you for stopping that horrible buck." She laid her ears flat.

"Get your rear to the den and we'll get your wounds cleaned up. Don't want infection." Wildwood rolled her eyes at her brother's antics. He was exaggerating, just as he always did. That buck sure did crave attention. Maybe he would find another doe after Ginkgo returned to the down and another owsla came to take his place. Either way, she was irked at having her evening spoiled and loped slowly in the direction of their shared burrow, motioning for him to follow.

"It could always be worse, they'll heal up nicely." The male sniffed airily and almost pulled away from the doe. Part of that pride meant caring for himself, not letting some doe dote upon him like an outskirter that had gotten a bit too roughed up by an age-mate. He stayed himself, however, and let her gentle tongue clean the muck that had accumulated on his pelt during the scuffle.

"I was doing my job... He ever messes with you again, you tell me and I'll give him the what for."

"I don't think that will be a problem, officer." She could tell he was being restrained and gave a soft smile. She liked the big, tough guys but only when they could be gentle, as he was being. That was why she had not fallen for him when he saved her from the bird. Compared to Pitch, however, he may as well have been El-ahrairah in comparison. She finished licking his wounds.
"My name is Meadowsnip." She smiled. "Do escort me back to my home in the warren?"

"Hopefully not, but he and his sister have the habit of sticking their noses where they don't belong, so to speak." He held himself steady as she cleaned his wounds, refusing to wince, even though the areas were somewhat tender. They had to be cleaned, after all, and this doe was rather lovely and gentle.

"Meadowsnip... I don't think I've met you proper before tonight, but I am Ginkgo." He flicked an ear, shooting an eye at the retreating siblings, before checking the area once more. It wasn't time yet for him to call it an evening, but he could easily escort her to the warren's main burrows.

"Of course. Come with me." He pulled away from her, feeling a renewed vigor at having his evening spiced up with the scuffle and the adrenaline had not yet worn off. He would continue to keep watch over his portion of the down until he was relieved.

She followed him eagerly. "Oh, not so fast, please, Officer Ginkgo. We've only just met and I'd like to talk to you on our walk." She waved her little tail back and forth and smoothed one of her ears with a paw.

"So, Officer, how long have you been here? I was born here recently, so I've been here my whole life, but..I was very shy as a kitten. I have not been outside very much. I didn't know it could be so beautiful." She was looking at the distant sunset.
