"Yes, your mother." He grinned. "These numbers are used to represent years. The first was the year the man was born in, and the last the year he died in."
As for the next question... That was definitively a loaded question. had Ankou and Cosine explained him anything about this ? Where they both had come from, compared to him and his siblings ?
"Gods can die, yes." He figured he might as well be truthful. Isidore was bound to learn of it eventually. "Not easily, but they can. If no one believe in them, a god fades into nothing. When that happens, what is left of them is regathered into a gem by Harmodius, if there is enough to re-gather. That gem is given to a mortal, who will carry the god to life once more."

Isi nodded in understanding. So no funerals for gods. He would not find any buried here. He would certainly have to ask his parents for more information. He was now very determined to learn to speak more.
"Mortal life is short." He hoped that was right. He pointed to the dates, and the others. "All of them. So many."

"Yes, mortal lives are very short ones." Even the longest span of time would have counted as a blink of the eye for a god. At least, in the old days. It really was hard for him to think about things this way - he was still young, in the grand scheme of things, and the time before the fading was not something he was very knowledgeable about. Some gods did remember, but he had nothing to remember from that time.
"Some mortals are longer lived than others. Most elves live for centuries, while humans are lucky to make it to 100 years of life." He had learned that much from books, at least.

Well that made their jobs all the more important. To help those left living to remember the short time they had on the planet. He knew there was a lot more to it than that but for now he was content. He felt he had learned something about himself. Something that would be useful for him in the future. "Thank you Kios." He smiled.

"No problem." He quite liked answering questions, even if they were simple ones. Isidore would find himself lifted from the ground and sat on his cousin's shoulders, however.
"I should get you home before your mother wonder where we have run off to, though. We can come back later."

Weee, that was exciting, sitting on Kios's shoulders. He bet he was almost as tall as his deaddy sitting up there, looking out over everything. "Kay." He declared as it was decided that they would return back home. He wanted to bring his father back to investigate.
