"Yeah... and some of us are pretty good at it, too..." she laughed, amused at his expression. "It's not all fun and games, though. It's a lot of hard work, both during and in between contests. I have to work with a lot of breeders to keep my pokemon in top shape."
She grinned down at the eevee copying the growlithe. Though the pokemon would never win a cute or beauty contest, Dove knew she wouldn't have wanted to try to go against the growlithe in a tough competition... back when she had been a learning beginner.
"Ah... What to say about her staying arrangements? She didn't want to come across as a pampered rich girl--though, to be honest, she was-- and seem pompous. "Anywhere is okay," she finally answered as politely as she could.

Blink blink. "Guess everyone's gotta have a hobby." Yuri shrugged. He didn't really get it, but then he didn't really have to. Whatever floats your boat, lady.
Repede flopped his tail to the other side while his tongue lolled out of his mouth in an amused pant.
"Huh, okay." Yuri said before gesturing with his sword down the street. "There's an inn just a couple blocks down." He was actually heading in that direction, cause the inn was actually right next to the tavern he was going to.

Dove shrugged at his comment, then looked down to watch Lovey copy the growlithe yet again, every action down to its breathing pattern. The young woman giggled quietly, then again turned her attention to Yuri, eyeing the sword uneasily.
"An inn? Is it nice?" she asked, before stopping herself to think. Sure, she would much rather have had the luck for him to mention a resort, but as she hadn't asked for that much, she couldn't blame him. After all, what was the point of an adventure if you didn't try new things?
Not that staying in an inn would be new to her. She fondly remembered the few times she and her boyfriend had been 'forced' to spend their nights in the smaller towns' inns, thanks to their lack of more regal accommodations. She would miss the way he complained about everything tonight.

Depends on your definition of nice. Yuri just shrugged, "It's good enough." She had said anything after all. He wouldn't mind staying there, but Yuri wasn't at all a pampered individual. He could sleep just about anywhere.
He didn't realize that his sword was making her uncomfortable. It was completely natural for him, especially since the sword was sheathed anyway. It's not like he'd accidentally cut her, whether it was on or not.
Repede was even more amused as he watched the Eevee. This time he laid down, his belly pressed against the sidewalk.

Lovey continued to play with the growlithe, yipping every so often in delight.
"Thanks! It sounds really great." She bowed slightly at the waist, smiling brightly at him as she straightened. "Thank you for your help...I think Lovey was about to ditch me because I was so helpless."
In response, the eevee yipped up at her, then ran around through her legs again, stopping once more at her side and pawing up toward her knee to prove she never would have done such a thing.

See.. it could be a roach motel, and it probably was, and Yuri would think it was good enough. But then he didn't know about this lady's high standards either.
Yuri just waved his hand dismissively at her thanks. "Sure, no problem."
Repede, taking the mimicing to the next level, rolled over.

Dove laughed as the eevee followed suit and flopped onto its back in front of Repede. "Well, you two seem to be getting along well...
She watched a moment more as Lovey yipped then flipped her tail back and forth, urging the growlithe to make its next move. "He's so unique," she started absently, admiring the pokemon's fur. "I don't think I've ever seen this type of pokemon with that coloring before. Where did you two meet?
She blinked, then bit her lip, turning to the young man as she realized she had been rude to question someone she hadn't even properly met yet.
"I'm Dove, by the way. Sorry I didn't introduce myself sooner...

Repede seemed to be enjoying entertaining the little Eevee. He then rolled over a couple times and ended up on his belly again.
"Repede likes playing with other Pokemon," Yuri commented off-handedly to Dove's observation. "I took care of him when I was in the military. We've been together ever since."
And Yuri didn't seem at all bothered at the delay of name giving.
"Don't worry about it. Name's Yuri, Yuri Lowell."

"I can tell!" she laughed, watching Lovey repeat the actions. He did seem to be friendly, and that combined with Lovey's outgoing, joyful spirit seemed to create quite the sight.
"Yuri..." She nodded once, then shifted her grip on her bag to shake his hand. "It's nice to meet you. You said you served in the military? That's definitely something..."

"Nah, not really. I actually quit a few months in."
He shrugged that off, also apparently not bothered by that either.
Repede quickly sat up again and then reared up to balance on his hind legs, forepaws held in the air.

Lovey quickly attempted the same, pawed happily into the air for a moment, then toppled over onto her back, scrambling quickly to right herself.
"A-Ah. I see." She tucked her hair behind her ear again, looking off over the young man's shoulder. He seemed to be incredibly laid back, almost as though he didn't have a care in the world.
Looking around the row of shops, Dove wondered vaguely if he could also direct her toward any place to stop and eat. As if on cue, her stomach growled.

Yeah that's not exactly impressive, but Yuri wasn't out to impress anyone anyway. He just told it like it was. Especially since he didn't deserve any praise for it.
When her stomach growled though, the man smirked. "There's plenty of places to eat around here. I was about to go get a bite myself."
Hopefully she likes seafood, that's mostly what there was in this part of town, being so close to the harbor and all.
Repede laughed at Lovey in a doggy manner, practically grinning ear to ear as the Eevee toppled over.

Dove giggled, embarrassed at her stomach speaking out of turn. "Oh? Would you mind if we joined you?"
It wasn't usually her style to impose on someone's plans, especially when she knew so little about them, but under the circumstances...
"We haven't eaten since breakfast, and that was hours ago." She shrugged casually. "I'll even buy your lunch, to repay you for the help you've given us!"
Lovey simply rolled around on her back, making silly faces at her new friend.

Hm? Yuri blinked a little at that, certainly surprised that she would so willingly follow a stranger like him. But he didn't mind, and thus shrugged.
"Sure, if you want to."
He turned and started to lead the way, giving a back handed wave. "Naw, don't worry about it." Yuri hadn't really done anything special, and she didn't need to use her money on him.
Repede smirked at Lovey, then got up as soon as he noticed Yuri walking. He gave a short bark to the other Pokemon and started to follow his human friend.

Dove wasn't worried about following a stranger. Even in the few hours between exploring the city and getting off the boat, she had felt the eyes on her, of those who had seen her work in spreads and shoots. She was sure--though it might have made her feel a bit vain to realize-- that nothing would go too seriously wrong.
"Lead on, good sir. And really, don't you worry about it," she chatted, following after him once she was sure Lovey was trotting along as well. "It's really the least I can do. I'd most likely still be wandering without your help."
