He blinked an eye open at the sensation of her soft tongue. His little minx was awake. Smiling down at her, his chest rumbled with the wolf equivalent of a purr.
"Good morning," he mumbled, licking her cheek. He saw her looking out of the cave entrance and was briefly struck with the fear that she was looking for a chance to leave. He shook his head slightly and relaxed. That wouldn't happen.

Turning her head back to her lover now that he was awake, she smiled, fluttering her blue eyes at him. "Morning M'Lord." she said with a soft yawn a she stretched her front legs out, her paws gently reaching out to touch his. "It always smells so wonderful after a rain..." she said dreamily, watching a bird flutter past. This was always the moment which she would leave if it had been any other male, but today..... something kept her pinned to her spot... and she didn't much mind it at all.

He felt pleasant chills at the way he addressed him, humming deep in his chest once more at the feel of her paws brushing his.
"I know something that smells better than Rain," he smiled into her fur, inhaling her addicting scent. The sound of his stomach growling alerted Fog that a hunt was needed. Letting out a long yawn, he gently untangled himself from his lover and did a full body stretch, groaning at the pops and cracks that rang out into the air. Shaking his head, he looked down longingly at the comfy pile of leaves and his beautiful Mist.
"Are you hungry? I can get us both something nice. Perhaps a deer?" he smiled.

She almost wanted to whimper as he moved to stand and the warmth faded from her. Curling up tight, she tucked her tail against er and rested her head on her paws, looking up at him almost tauntingly. "A deer sounds splendid." she smiled in returned, her mouth almost watering at the thought.
Moving to cross one front paw over the other and raise her head in attempts to reach his muzzle, she whispered to him. "But I shall miss you....while your gone." her blue eyes sparkled as they narrowed suggestively.... and quite possibly hiding other thoughts behind it.

Letting out a rough chuckle, Fog leaned down and bumped his muzzle against hers affectionately.
"Then a deer I shall fetch for you, my dear," he smiled. "And there is no need to miss me. I am always with you, right there," he gestured at her chest with a paw, lightly brushing the fur above where her heart rested. It's soft beating soothed him, and he rose to his full height once more. Padding to the exit of the cave, he turned back to send her another smile.
"I'll be back soon, Mist," With that, he took off at a brisk pace, his paws beating against the dew-slicked grass and his nose raised to scent the air. All that he could hope for now was that a deer was nearby and that when he returned, his lover was still there to share it with him.

"I shall await your return my Lord." she said as she watched him leave. Her heart pounded in her chest after he was gone as she stood up and gave herself a shake. Glancing around the cave where she had spent what she would consider one of the best nights of her life, she let out a soft sad sigh. She didn't want to leave.... but she could feel a change inside her, even if it was ever so slight, and knew she had to go.
Padding to the entrance of the cave, she stared off into the direction Fog had went, and turned her muzzle in the opposite direction. "Good bye... my love." she whispered softly into the wind. In the deepest spaces of her mind she knew she would see him again, but the circumstances would be different... in some way, somehow. For now, she sped off to find a place to be alone, something wonderful just starting to blossom in the pit of her belly.

Fog grinned around the corpse of the buck he had taken down. His cave was within sight, with his lover sleeping inside of it. Dragging the buck by the neck, Fog went over what he had been thinking about while hunting. He loved Mist. He felt a connection that he had never felt before with any other wolf. She took the thoughts of his grisly past away with her smile and bewitching blue eyes.
He was going to ask her to be his mate.
It was a quick decision, but one that he knew was right. When he caught that buck's throat between his jaws, his only thoughts were that he hoped she'd enjoy it.
He could see himself doing this type of thing forever. He smiled at the thought of just him and her, roaming and hunting and just being together. Fog and Mist.
A soft rain began just as he was reaching the cave entrance. Fog dropped the deer, maneuvering around it so that his back was to the entrance. Gripping it around the neck at a different angle, he walked backwards, dragging the corpse into the cave.
Once the buck was out of the rain and within their shelter, Fog let out a laugh and shook himself out.
"Mist you should see the buck I got for us," he smiled.
Turning away from the corpse, his smile all at once fell into a frown. The pile of leaves was empty.
"Mist?" he called, knowing it was silly to do so. There was nowhere to go unless she left the cave. Rushing past the forgotten buck on the ground, Fog ran out of the cave, skidding to a halt just outside of it. The soft rain had transformed into a horrible storm, much like the one last night. Except this time there was no Mist running into his cave. There was no Mist at all.
Fog lifted his nose into the spray, trying to scent his lover, yet knowing that it was futile. She had left him. She was gone.
Letting out one long, forlorn howl, Fog collapsed on the wet ground beneath him, ignoring the beating of rain upon his back.
He was alone again.
