Gene took the hint and followed suit by pressing her ear against the door, pausing to give Mort an awkard nod.

Mort blinked at the use of his name and turned to see the familiar demon ghoul, nodding and giving a half a smile in return before pressing a finger to his lips. He wanted to limit the noise made just in case whoever they were eavesdropping on had good ears, but it was nice to see Edel after so long, even if they were only friendly acquaintances. Scario Kart was well overdue!

Come to think of it, Shehk could use her mist form too. Maybe both she and Gene would be their best pair of eyes . . . Well, at least assuming said occupants wouldn't notice a little fog in the former's case. But what would put Arel in such a disarray anyway? Was something else coming to bother their school's credit or standing? Hunters, rogue horsemen, a stampede of derpicorns as cavalry to the llamas he'd heard complaints about?

Bah, so many things to ask and talk about, and not all school-related even. He was itching to ask Gene about the letter, for one (that awkward nod was not a good sign he bet, fffffffffsdhfkdjhkjhg Jack damn him). And Mort still needed to remember how to find the Protectors now that horsemen were so close to the school . . .

The sign was given to stand and listen, but Roch's addition to the group made the zomboil realize how many were beginning to form. Quietly as he could, he shuffled a bit to the edge, glancing about them in case less desirables were going to note on their position.

Exploring the Office

Taima had been wandering the building looking for more flyers or classrooms or posters or anything that would indicate the opening of another class or club or general Something To Do. She wasn't even anywhere near the office, but her curiosity got the better of her when she heard the quiet commotion coming from down the hall. Hoping that it was a class, she walked over and poked her head in, finding not a class engaged in spirited debate or even practical demonstration, but a bunch of students rummaging around a messy office while another group stood huddled around a door on the other side of the room.

It wasn't the strangest thing she had seen in her brief time at Amityville, though. Rather than losing hope in the thought that she had wandered into something that might be productive later on, she entered the office. There were really a lot of people camping outside that door, so she joined the group around the desk, reading through some of the papers scattered on it. Junk mail, junk mail, bills, junk mail, receipts... "What are we even looking for?" Taima asked nobody in particular.

The small ghoul clasped a hand over her mouth. She hadn't thought about the fact that at any minute the door could swing open if they made too much noise. Mei felt a bit sheepish.

She kept her hand over her mouth while turning to look at the others who had begun to gather around the door as well.

Really wanted to know what was going on on the other side of that door though.

Without drawing closer to the door, she cupped her other hand to her ear in an attempt to see if she could hear anything. Though all she could really make out were faint mumblings.

Following the trail

Alex was there because...well, he was being a follower again. In the end he just couldn't help those instincts, when he saw a group, small or large, heading in a certain direction he almost always found himself trailing behind them. His feet shuffled along the ground, socked and fairly silent, as he approached whatever it was everyone else was gathered around. There were a lot of familiar faces, Roch, Mort, Meixiang. He gave them each a nod, though wondered what they were doing in front of----

---Oh s**t no, was this the...the bathroom? The one that he'd been dumped into by ninja gnomes for a detention that a certain secretary had forced upon him and several others? Alex may have shuddered violently at the memory. Why would everyone be gathered around out here anyways? He wanted to ask but...everyone appeared to be remaining very silent.

....Were those voices Alex could almost make out on the other side of the door?

FOLLOWING THE TRAIL

Having been walking past, it was hard to miss the wide open door to the secretary's office. Nor was it hard to miss the group of students inside, and as Poke poked her head through the door, she saw a few of them she recognized. Not to mention the stacks of paper. Paper was EVERYWHERE. It was a wonder how Arel was able to do any work.

Cautiously walking inside, she ignored the strong smell of apple cider and followed the tail towards the bathroom door were everyone else was.

"Hey, long time no see" She whispered to Shun, getting the feeling that she had to be quiet. She could hear the murmurs of voices on the other side of the door, and strained her ears to hear what they were saying.

EXPLORING THE OFFICE

Leo had been taking a contemplative walk, just, you know, walking (not in any way procastinating) when she passed the school office. And then backtracked. Bloody Mary, this place looked a mess! And it seemed like there were other students there, tidying? No.. that didn't seem quite right. Looting? Nosying about?

Well, Leo was never one to turn down a group activity.

She entered just in time to hear one of the boils talking about stolen keys to some others. Stolen keys? It wasn't anything she knew about, but then again, she wasn't all that aware of what went on at school.

"Um, I can help you look for the keys as well, if you need more help." It felt a bit invasive just jumping into their conversation, but if they were looking for something that small in this mess, surely they'd need help.
