Alexander was wanting to take on responsibility regarding the kittens? Yin was impressed. "I shall be there," he vowed. And that was that.

----------------------

Hours later, hours filled with training and the examining kittens, though they were a bit skittish of him at first. Then it was time to get ready to go. He was not going to wear his absolute nicest things, but he did try to wear his nicer clothing. Then he noticed that one of his mends was coming undone and he had to fix it, but really, he was presentable. At least his things were clean.

It was a leisurely jog to the maul, helping to keep his muscles warm and loose. It was pleasant, and he felt a small twinge of disappointment that Alexander may never feel the same way about this as he did...and it was just so relaxing.

Once at the actual maul he wove his way though the crowds, finally arriving at the restaurant. He lurked nervously at the entrance for several minutes before finally entering and standing silently until someone noticed him and let him know where to sit.

Hours later, Alex was ready to fall down dead in an open grave and never get up again. Why had he agreed to this stupid double shift? Just for a few extra silver seeds in his pocket? It was true that they had trained him up to be a waiter much faster then he had expected, so he was at least making tips on top of everything else, but with the mood he was in, and how slow and sluggish his movements became as the first shift, and then the second, wore on, he wasn't really making much in that regards, anyways. The only thing that kept him from just giving up, or quitting, was the thought of how disappointed Yin would be in him, and of how much he really really wanted to impress his mother, whom he hadn't even told about the job yet.

As the day progressed into the afternoon, and then the early evening, Alex's brain began to go numb. His legs ached from being on his feet for so much of the day, and he pretty much completely lost track of time. It had been a fairly steady shift, not too busy, but not really quiet either. Lunch had been hell, and dinner time was even worse, but he'd managed to pull through with only a few scoldings from his supervisor.

So it was that when Yin arrived, Alex hadn't even seen him enter, or if he had, just wasn't paying much attention anymore. It was only fortunate that the hostess who had been working the first time he and Yin had come to eat was on shift, though she was waitressing now, and had come over to tell him. A smile instantly spread across Alex's face, and he thanked her, though then she told him who's section Yin was sitting in and his face fell. Really? Well, maybe he could sneak over there and get the weremantis to move before 'the asshat' as Alex had not so fondly dubbed him, could get to him first.

---

Unfortunately for Alex, that was not to be so. For, of course, the asshat waiter in question was a far faster mover and worker then some slow, stupid zomboil who should never have even by hired to begin with. He had already approached Yin's table, a smile spread across his face though his eyes were narrowed and he was not so subtly raking his eyes over the weremantis, judging him, and wondering who had allowed the hobo with the tattered clothes in through the door, and why oh why he was the one that was going to have to serve him. But oh wait! He recognized this boil. He was the one that was with that stupid, slow, zombie, right?

"Can I get you anything? A drink? A menu?" A tin cup so you can stand on the street corner and beg for money?

Yin glanced up as the waiter appeared, noticing him but not really thinking about how much of a jerk he had been the first time he was there. He was here with a mission, and that mission was to wait for Alexander to get off work. And of course, to drink something while he was there, because Alexander's suggestion had been a fairly good one.

"I would appreciate some water please," he requested, not really sure why the boil was eyeing him up and down, and slightly uncomfortable about it. But all he had to do was stay here for a little while, and a glass of water was not that much of a hassle probably.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 7:51 pm

Alexander saw what was going on. He saw and he was helpless to do anything about it because another customer got seated in his section, and he had to go and take care of that first. Still, he tried to get Yin's attention by waving at him, and shaking his head and pointing the waiter that was currently serving him, but he pretty much knew it was pointless from the moment he started.

Communication in hand signals. They really needed to work on it.

Grudgingly, Alex went back to work, reminding himself repeatedly that Yin could surely take care of himself and if asshat was being an asshat, the weremantis would deal with it in his own way. Did asshat have a name? Alexander didn't bother to know or care. Maybe if he caught Cynthia while she was free he could send her over to the rescue.

------------

"Just water? All right then sir, coming right up." He gave Yin the most fake and condescending smile ever before turning and marching his way back across the restaurant to where the water and pop fountain was situated, around a corner where the customers couldn't see. Seriously, he had to deal with this complete hobo of a monster, with no chance of making any money off of him, and serve him nothing but water? Somebody was going to pay for this.

It wasn't long before he was back, water in hand. Ice water. In fact, it was almost all ice and almost no water at all. As he got closer, his foot appeared to catch on the carpet, and he stumbled, spilling the contents of the glass all over the table top and into Yin's chest, several cubes sliding off the table and probably into the weremantis's lap. "Oh my...I'm so sorry sir, that was so awfully clumsy of me. Here, let me get you another one." Another smile that was no where near happy, as he turned and stalked away once more.

With the water boy waiter off to get his water Yin took his time to look around the restaurant. He caught sight of Alexander gesturing at him and gave him a small wave, but did not want to detract from his work. Instead he focused on the table, rearranging things to be perfectly straight, and glancing around.

Quicker than he had expected the waiter was back, and he glanced up just in time to see a sheet of ice and water toward him. A few that hit him bounced off to odd directions, most downward, and a small sheet of ice cold water and several more cubes sliding off of the table and onto his lap. "It-Its o-okay," Yin said through chattering teeth, quickly standing to try to get all of the ice cubes off of him. He was wet, but not completely soaked, and while his clothing that clung to him was uncomfortably cold he could handle a cupful of water. And really, with Alexander around he was accustomed to clumsiness. Someone tripping was certainly forgivable. The waiter looked upset as he went to fetch him another glass. The poor guy was probably embarrassed about tripping in front of so many individuals.

Alex was actually moving quickly, for him, trying to get his new customers drink out and order taken as fast as inhumanly possible so that he could go and see Yin, make sure things were okay, tell him how much longer he was going to be, and possibly try to move him to a different section. Didn`t even have to be Alex`s section, because any would do, really. Of course, his customer would have to be one of those super picky types who took their time reading every last word on the menu, asked a million questions about ten different dishes only to order something they probably always ordered. It was aggravating, to say the least, and one of the many, many reason`s the zomboil really did not enjoy this job very much.

---

The waiter with the severe attitude problem was rolling his eyes as he stalked away from Yin, getting the boil a new glass of water, grumbling under his breath all the while and debating whether he could get away with mixing something particularily nasty into it without getting caught. In the end he decided that there was really no way to explain such an occurance without everyone looking at him suspiciously, so he left it, and returned to Yin`s table with glass in hand, putting it down on the table none too gently, so that some of the liquid sloshed over the edges. "Do enjoy." He simpered, still pretending to just be absolutely thrilled to be serving this complete mess of a monster, who worse then that, was actually dating a zombie of all things, before turning on his heel and striding away once more. He had better things to be doing, and as he passed Alex, who was on his way over to talk to Yin, he very casually stuck a foot out for the zomboil to trip over, giving him a bit of jostle with his shoulder as he stumbled passed.

"Pathetic" He grumbled, loud enough for anyone in the near vicinity to overhear, including Yin, as he continued on his way.

---

Alex had been far too focused on Yin to even care that what's-his-name complete jerk face was walking past, and it wasn't until he felt the toe of his shoe hit something that he realized what a mistake that had been, and a small shove sent him sprawling forward, catching himself on the edge of Yin's table and jostling things around so that yet more water sloshed out of his cup. The zomboil, who at this point was pretty much maxed out on stress and on the verge of having a zombie rage moment, gripped the side of the table so hard that his knuckles began to turn white, and the wood beneath his fingers began to crack in a way that was probably not healthy as he glared at the center of the table top, mentaily counting backwards from ten and taking a deep breath in, and then out, before straightening himself out and making a show of straigtening his clothes before looking over at Yin and giving the boil a very strained smile. "I won't be done for another...40 minutes I think." He pulled a cloth out of his apron, lifting up Yin's water to wipe up the mess before noticing that the other boil looked rather damp himself.

"Oh jack, you're wet! I'm sorry, Yin, I didn't mean to fall into the table and spill your water." No, to anybody who was paying attention, that much would have been incredibly obvious.

Yes, this waiter was very clumsy, but he talked nice enough, and Yin was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. There was still water in this glass at least, and so little sloshed out of it that it did not get him wet again. He was entirely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that was, until he saw him jostle into Alexander, noticed his foot a bit too late, and heard one word come out of the boil's mouth clearly. Very clearly.

This time the water sloshing about did manage run off of the table onto him, not that he really noticed. Instead he was feeling something that he rarely felt, especially not lately, not when he meditated so regularly. The itching burn of the desire to shift. To go after the waiter and decapitate him, utterly destroy him. He was cramming down the feeling as best he could, glaring after the waiter until a strange cracking noise reached his ears and he glanced down to see Alexander gripping the table, splintering it. His concern for his bonded was a good distraction, even though Alexander seemed to be pulling himself together rather well.

The question of "would he mind if Yin stepped outside with the other waiter for just a moment" died on his lips when Alexander began speaking. Forty minutes would probably be enough time, but maybe not. He glanced down at himself as if to confirm that yes, coming to see his boilfriend dressed up and hard at work had made him wet, but he shook his head. "It was not your fault Alexander, you do not need to be concerned. Water had already been spilled. I shall be fine for an additional forty minutes." Though if he saw the waiter that had done this again it would probably be too soon.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:43 pm

Water had already been spilt? Alexander could feel the rage rising inside of him once again, though he knew he needed to be careful, since he was at work and could get into a lot of trouble, even fired, if he started any conflict.

He reached up to run fingers through his hair, likely looking as bedraggled and miserable as he felt. "Okay, well...do you think you'd maybe like to move to a different table so that jerk isn't serving you anymore? And if you're hungry, go ahead and order something, you won't be charged." Alex was fairly sure he could make sure of it, for the water spilling incident alone, but if not he could always have the meal come off of his check and Yin would never know the difference.

There was an overwhelming urge to reach up and fix Alexander's hair, he truly needed to stop running his hands through it like that. At least while he was at work. That though alone cheered Yin up a bit. Alexander was really at work. He hoped that Lady Van Rotte knew, she would probably be even more proud than he was that her little zomboil was growing up.

"I don't want to get anyone in troub--" Yin glanced toward the way the waiter had left. No, if he did not move he would probably make trouble when the boil came back. "If there is a free table and it would not be too much of a hassle I will move." At the idea of free food...well...that was certainly something he was not going to pass up. Why not eat food if it was free? He would have to order something for sure!
PostPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:21 am

"It's no trouble." He promised, giving Yin a warm smile before taking a quick glance towards his section to make sure nobody new had been seated, which thankfully, nobody had.

"Here, come on, you can be my last customer of the night." Hopefully, he still needed to go and ask if he could actually leave. He nodded his head in the direction of where his tables were located, waiting for Yin to get up, grabbing for his water and then leading him, albeit slowly, to where he could sit next. As he shuffled along, he noticed a**-hat watching them from the corner of his eye, smirking, and the zomboil wasted no time in rising a middle finger in his direction, though not before making sure nobody was looking.

"Here you go, just sit there and I'll get you a menu." Still acting the part of being only too happy to do his job even if he hated it. Still, Yin was here, that made it all the more bearable at least. And also knowing that he should be finished soon. Wait, was that the sound of a bell dinging? Oh s**t right, his other customer! Alexander hurried(?) off to grab the food and to get Yin a menu.

--

If Yin was paying attention at all to the sounds around him, he might have heard a bit of an argument coming from the area that Alex had just disappeared in. "But that's my customer!" "Well, you stole one of mine so it's only fair." "Ya, because he wanted to move. This one is still in my section."

Shortly after this, the a**-hat waiter from earlier could be seen delivering food to one of Alex's table, joking around with the customer, apologizing for the wait, letting him know that he would be in better hands now. Alex, who had approached back to Yin's table with a menu in hand, somehow looked even more fed up then he had before.

"Here." He mumbled, no longer even able to bring himself to pretend to be enjoying himself. Working sucked.

Well, if he was going to be in Alexander's section he had absolutely no issues about getting up and moving. Of course, he had time to dance a ballet as he followed the zomboil at a painfully slow pace, but instead he just focused on glancing around at the other people in the restaurant. He nodded and sat where directed, perfectly compliant, taking a sip of his water as Alexander shuffled off.

But there was a commotion, and Alexander's voice reached his ears, clearly upset. The other voice was also recognizable, and it was all just setting Yin on edge. When Alexander emerged he looked upset really, and Yin watched him in concern as he approached. No, his bonded was not happy, and he did not have to imagine the cause. "Will everything be alright?" he asked, for once doing the possibly romantic thing by making sure his fingers brushed over Alexander's as he took the menu, though mainly he was just trying to remind Alexander that he was there. "If you need me to take care of anyone...er...anything I will do my best."

Oh how he hated that Alexander had given him a menu though. Now he was going to have to try and read it. It was highly unlikely that Alexander would not see through his "what do you suggest" tactics that he had tried the last time.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 12:06 pm

Alexander just wanted to sit down, and he didn't really care that much about losing a customer as much as he was annoyed with how it had happened and who had stolen it. As he handed over the menu and felt those oh so warm fingers brush against his own, he was almost tempted to just grab Yin's hand, haul him up out of his chair, and drag him out of the restaurant so that they could just leave and his day off could commence. Also he needed a hug, and there was probably no way he could convince Yin into giving him one in public, but once they got back to the school maybe...

He was brought out of his mental distraction, all because of that one incredibly light touch, by Yin's question. He nodded before replying "Ya, everything will be fine. I'm just..tired and want to leave." Tired as in mentally more then physically. Physically he was capable of going for hours more.

The thought of having Yin take care of somebody was tempting, oh so tempting, but he somehow managed to keep himself from saying so. "Let me worry about it. I've dealt with worse." Discrimination for being a zombie really wasn't very uncommon, sadly, and Yin probably got a lot of the same treatment for being a monster, though it was more likely the weremantis just didn't notice.

Maybe being blissfully ignorant could be a gift, sometimes.

Knowing that Yin would probably be quite some time while he read over the selections, Alex decided now would be a good time to ask about leaving.

"I'll be back in a minute." He murmured, reaching up to run fingers through his hair again while he shuffled off to speak with the supervisor.

Not long after Alex left, a ghoul sauntered by, one that Yin might recognize, but possibly not as it had been a few months. "Hey!" She said, happily, casting him a smile as she passed, one that showed off a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. "Do you need any help deciding on what you'd like?" She came to a complete stop, and turned back towards him, probably noticing that Yin might be looking at the menu a little funnily.

Hm, he was tired? Perhaps he should let him "sleep in" a bit in the morning before they trained. Though he still was not sure how someone who did not sleep would get past being tired, on the other hand it really was not worth agonizingly trying to work through it. Maybe someday he would get Alexander to explain it, though he had the distinct feeling that the zomboil would use quite a few big words and somehow make it more confusing than it really needed to be. But at least Alexander could take care of his own problems. Yin could rather happily accept that, manliness was a good thing sometimes (hm, manliness, maybe they could work that into their training...)

As Alexander wandered off he began to look at the menu. And look at the menu. And then he stared some more. It would not have been so bad if he had at least known all the words, but really, what did "sautéed" even mean? And what were all of these foods...was a "nightshade" some sort of minipet or a seasoning or something absolutely disgusting like a vegetable?

The distraction that the ghoul offered upon greeting him (if he had not been so entirely engrossed in the menu perhaps he would have stood up to properly greet her) was what made him aware that he was beginning to get a headache as he tried to make heads or tails of the menu. When she offered assistance..."Greetings Miss," he said politely and dipped his head to her. "Um...would it be too much of a hassle for you to recommend some dishes primarily composed of meat?" The look on his face was one of pure hope, eyes pleading with her to follow through with her offer of help. "I would be most grateful."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:00 pm

Yin really didn't need to think about it all that hard. It was just the simple fact that Alex was lazy, and that was that.

The ghoul waited for Yin to finish speaking, listening to him with a speculative look on her face. "I'm Cynthia, by the way." She gave him another grin, seemingly unable to help herself. Maybe there was a reason her and Alex got along so well?

"Hrm, well, there are several things. Steak stacker, meat lovers tray, screamin' hot cockatrice wings, dry piggle ribs, bacon wrapped spectropus for the seafood lover...any of that sound good?" She cast a glance over her shoulder, possibly to see if anybody was paying attention, or if Alex was on his way back yet. A loud crashing sound, like a plate being broken, came from the kitchen area, and the ghouls eyes widened little.

"Um, sorry about the noise...somebody must have dropped something---"Another crashing sound, much louder then the first, and the ghoul was inching away.

"I think I'll just go and check on Alex, make sure he's on his way back. Little tough to get him in high gear sometimes." Alex had a high gear? Who knew! ]"Nice guy, though. You are very lucky!" And with that the ghoul was gone, scampering back to the kitchen area and coming to a skidding halt when the zomboil appeared, stopping to talk with him. He was quite obviously trying to hide a grin, and she had clamped hands over her own mouth when he finished speaking with her, and she ducked around him as if in a hurry to get somewhere, or perhaps more accurately, see something.

Back at the table now, the zomboil was clearly in a much better mood then before. "I'll be able to leave in about half an hour now. Did you find anything you'd like?"

"Greetings Cynthia," he said, fairly certain he had heard positive things about her from Alexander. She seemed to be fairly knowledgeable, rattling off a list of various things. He was about to answer her query when a crash rang out from the back, stealing their attention away. Then she was excusing herself, and...talking about Alexander as if he could move quickly? Did she actually know him? He was nice though, that much was easy to see.

Alexander was on his way out though, and he looked rather happy about something or another. Yin wanted to press him to see if there was something going on, but Alexander had not offered anything, and he would not wish to destroy his good mood. A curious look was on his face though as he looked up at his bonded.

Oh right, the menu. Folding his menu and looking as if he knew exactly what was going on he pulled from the list of things she had told him about. "The meat lovers tray perhaps?" He did love meat after all. Perhaps not as much as Alexander, who could not seem to go for a day without getting some (though at least Yin was more than willing to provide it), but it still sounded good.
