Eve shed her coat and hurried to his side. "Let me see it," she said softly. "I have some herbs and bandages with me. People are always getting hurt in the garden so we're allowed to have them."

Kane held out his hand and turned it so that she could see the cut that was bleeding. He asked her "Going to answer my question?"

"The answer is no," Eve said. "Now hold still." She took out some of the herbs, chewed them up, and spat them onto his cut. She then carefully bandaged it. Only when she was done did she realize how close she was to him. Her face grew hot and she blushed at the memory of the last time she was that close to him. She still cared strongly for him but had been pushing her feelings for him away since that day she pushed him away. It was not safe for him to be close to her.

"Thanks" Kane said as he opened and closed his hand seeing how it held up. He looked up to her and held his glaze on her face before turning back to what he was working on. He remember what happen the last time that they were close. He removed the bolt and tossed it in a bucket with some others that he had picked up. "Might want to figure something out before you act." He told her as he started to work on another bolt.

Eve nodded slowly. "Kane I'm sorry," she whispered. "I..." she closed her eyes and shook her head to rid her vision of the blackness that came before one of her fits. She had never told him the truth or even explained why she had fits. She knew her secrets were better off not being told.

"You what?" Kane asked with a even voice as he broke the bolt loose with a quick and harsh twist. He removed it and tossed it with the others. He reach up and took a piece off the machine. He glanced over it before setting it aside and looked up to her.

Eve opened her eyes. She knew he'd see the signs she was about to have one of her fits. "I never meant to hurt you," she whispered.

"I know" Kane said with a sigh and he placed a hand on her shoulder and looked at her and asked "What is it?" He noticed the signs that sometimes happened to her, but he didn't understand it.

Eve blinked and her vision cleared. "False alarm," she muttered. She was enjoying having his hand on her shoulder though it did hurt the old burns acid rain had left on her. "Kane would you believe most of what you know about me is a lie," she asked, looking down at the floor.

Kane was quiet a moment thinking about how to answer before he answered "Yes." He let his hand fall off her shoulder and he put both of them into his pockets as he waited for her to go into more details.

Understanding flowed into him and he said "This is why you pushed me away?" He pulled his hands out of his pockets but wasn't sure what to do with them. After a moment of nothing he lightly placed one on her shoulder and he waited for her to answer his question.

Slowly Eve nodded. "I don't remember everything but I'll tell you what I do," she said quietly. "We lived much like you do here but we had technology from the Light times. We had it working too, quite well really but...I'm really not sure how it happened but something came and killed everyone. I survived because I ran into the wastelands without protection or anything."

Kane wasn't sure what he could say to that. He thought that there would be more places like this, but to have something come and kill everyone. That just didn't sit to well with him.
