Jacin sat up on his perch for a while watching the Witu. They seemed to go about licking their wounds, prowling about, and otherwise going about their lives as usual aside from occasionally looking up to give the two of them a growl. They were aware the two of them were up here still, showed them from time to time that they knew, but they didn't really go out of their way to try to figure out a way up which was something.

When the girl spoke up that maybe their was another way out he found himself looking up toward the darkening sky, then over toward where he knew the exit was, then over toward the little girl again, "Hrm..." He had an idea... as to how well it might work he couldn't really say, "I... think that I might have an idea, though I will need you to trust me. I will get you out of here, promise." He murmured as he set to struggling with the bow to get the thing strung again. It wasn't his weapon of choice or even one he'd ever tried before, but at least it might serve a purpose? He gave a sighing sound of relief when he finally got it done up then reached for an arrow in the quiver at his belt... then sighed when he realized that there was only one left. Not that he had been thinking on slaughtering all the animals from his perch but still, finding that he'd lost the other ones between when he'd gotten them to this point was still a bother.

"Alright, here is the plan. I am going to shoot over in that direction. I think the sounds should get their attention." At least he sure hoped so, they seemed territorial so maybe another sound would draw their attention? It was worth a try at least, "After it gets their attention you are going to hold onto me while I get us down, we will go for the exit, and then hope to and pray that they aren't chewing on our backsides by then." It would be nice after all not to end up a chew toy again. Notching his arrow and drawing it back he did his best to aim at the wall of the enclosure that that was on the opposite side from the exit and fired, hoping for the best.

The Youngling nodded in response to Jacinthus' request for trust, grinning brightly; the adventure was back on! ...The blind trust of a child.

The little girl stood up, watching intently as the older male managed to re-string the bow, her fists clenching and unclenching as she did her best to remain relaxed. She wanted not to be a huge burden on Jac as he got them back down; she wasn't going to argue. It sounded like the best possible plan and she would prepare herself for anything... including getting tossed back onto his shoulder.

The arrow did the trick. It flew with surprising accuracy around the bend in the U-shaped enclosure, away from the exit. Every one of the Witu immediately sprang up and ran (much more slowly and with much more limping than usual) in the direction of the sound. They were indeed incredibly territorial; their attention had been entirely diverted in the direction of this potential new threat. Yet, it was impossible to see how far the arrow had soared or to know when the canine creatures would return.

Jacin couldn't help but to feel hoping well up in his chest when it seemed that the Witu were in fact rather eager to get rid of... well, the arrow. He could only hope it held their attention for a time, "Alright, time to go." He murmured, judging the distance between their perch and the ground, then wrapped his arms around the girl and jumped down. A rush of pain spread through the bites that he'd received to his legs but he bit his lower lip and ignored the pain for the moment. Sure, it hurt like all get out, but he needed to focus on more important things, like how it would hurt even more if the pack came over to chew on him all over again. Letting a shaky sort of breath the prentice made his way over toward the exit as quickly and quietly as he could, setting the girl down in the crack that headed outside first.

"Get moving, I will meet you outside, alright?" Hopefully nothing as bad as the Witu would be waiting out there he thought to himself, turning a sharp ear toward the beasts, hoping that they were still distracted but wanted to make sure. Better to know that they were coming then to be blindsided as he was crawling through the exit which was a rather tight fit from what he recalled. It was dark, hard to tell exactly where they were, but he didn't think that they were right on top of him as of yet... hoping against hope that he had time the leaf tribesman set to squirming his way through the hole, wanting nothing more then for this adventure to end. He wasn't going to tell Kei about this, she was sure to have more then a few words to say about it if he told her how his day had gone...

It was clear that the Witu had found the arrow... and that it was being mangled for its terrible, invasive crime. A few loud cracks permeated the space, the Witu continuing to growl and harumph around the area.

The Youngling winced as they hit the ground, but it was clear that Jacin's legs had taken the majority of the impact. As he set her down by the exit, she simply nodded and crawled through. The sounds of the Witu were returning, although they seemed to be in no great rush. They had successfully destroyed the intruder and were now much more eager to nurse their wounds than to remember to check on the two, cornered Leaf Tribe members.

As Jacinthus managed to wriggle his way back through the hole, the Elder from before was standing there, smiling. The Youngling girl stood nearby, her chest puffed up with pride. A simple, leafy concoction had already been spread across the wound on her arm, to disinfect and heal.

"Jacinthus..." The Elder began, his smile unwavering, "you have done well."

Jacin gave a groan as he fell out the other side of the exit, realizing he'd failed a graceful go out at it both times but had no real desire to try again. Sitting there for a moment he was again listening in closely to the sound of the Witu but it seemed that they were content to stay inside. Turning toward where the girl was he gave a bit of a smile, seeing that not only was she alright but her wound had been tended to, "Good." He murmured before he turned to glance over at the elder that had appeared before them, better late then never he supposed?

When he was told that he had done well the young man couldn't help but to look confused as he dragged himself to his feet, brushing his hands against his clothing to knock away a bit of dirt but he knew full well the majority of the stains weren't going anywhere, "I've done well? Oh, yeah." He was a little confused at first but figured that the man was likely talking about him helping the girl, "So long as she is alright then I'm happy... those Witu are a bit on the... ahh... grouchy side, aren't they?" He was careful to clean up his real thoughts about the beasts given that he was in front of an elder and a youngling, best he behave himself. At least the Witu were easily distracted when it came to their territory, something he would keep in mind for later for sure.

The Elder chuckled. "They are indeed..." It was always a bit amusing, seeing the reactions of those who had just completed their Class Quests. Some were angry at not having been warned. Some crumpled in tears. Jacinthus... continued to prove himself a strong and selfless man.

"Jacinthus, you are not yet proficient with a bow and arrow... yet we could not expect you to be." The Elder grinned. "You used the weapon in a remarkably... innovative way. You managed to protect this Youngling girl and, most importantly, you stood up for your own convictions." The man placed his hand atop the Youngling's head. She smiled brightly at the man who had saved her. "It is important for a warrior to be able to follow commands from those higher in power. However, it is equally important for him to be able to stand up for himself and do what is right; even the strongest of us are flawed."

"Jacinthus, we know it will take time for you to master a weapon that you have never touched before, but if you still desire, I would like to offer you the rank of 'Archer' within our tribe."

Jacinthus was glad to see that the elder agreed with him about the temperament of the Witu, it helped a lot since it allowed him to blame the beasts instead of being as upset at the girl for wandering off in such a manner. He'd done the same thing with Keilana so many times after all, never really wanting to be upset with his sister even when she did things that warranted it. Slinging the bow over his shoulder he set about inspecting his legs when the elder spoke up once more, drawing his attention off the bite wounds and up to the man, "Huh?"

The man was complimenting him? Telling him that he'd used his weapon in innovative ways, that he'd managed to protect the girl, and stood up for his convictions. He blinked a couple times then flushed a little, "Ahhh... yeah, thanks." He really hadn't thought about it that way, or really in a way that made it seem as if he were fishing for compliments, he'd just wanted to get her out was all. Still, it was nice to get the recognition since it was something he thirsted for, not that he'd admit it. What came next was even more of a surprise, being offered a rank among his fellow tribesmen... to become more then just a prentice, to become someone that could be useful to his tribe, to be given a real weapon, all of it was a dream come true really. Instantly he was nodding his head, "Yes, yes, I accept!" He would be the best damn archer out there he thought to himself... of course that meant finding more arrows and practicing, but still. He could and would do it!

The Elder couldn't help but grin; Jacinthus' excitement was invigorating. The Youngling girl bounced on her toes, hands clasped together, entirely pleased with the events that were going on. "Wonderful."

The Elder stepped forward, hands outstretched to rest on either of Jacinthus' shoulders. "I award you, Jacinthus, the rank of Archer within the Leaf Tribe." The Youngling couldn't contain herself any longer. She bounced forward, arms encircling the much taller man's waist.

"Congratulations!" She beamed up at him, his witness, all radiance and smiles.
