"Paperwork," Ed replied dryly. "But less paperwork than I would be doing for two arrests, filing your respective charges, finding you lawyers, and then filling out the paperwork for both of you agreeing to plea bargains where you both dropped your respective charges. I figured the two of you cooling your heels for a few weeks wasn't worth four inches of paperwork," Ed told the lady. "In cases like this, the lawyers always end up with a mutual plea bargain. If something like this happens in the future, I'd suggest frog marching the thief to the station if you actually want him charged with anything."

Koorie didn't move from her kneeling position, unsure if she could stand up without this other man seeing how really shaken she was about the break in. She'd been confronted a few times of Rockets interested in Miu because of her markings, and a few breeders who were wanting in on the small pokemon's genes as well, but this was the first time her security had ever truly been breached and she almost lost her only friend.
"I don't rely on others to do my work for me. There wouldn't be a reason for me to bring the thief in, I could take care of matters myself." She paused, and then smirked down at Miu, who was rubbing her furry face into her trainer's hands. "Besides, you assume there will be something left of them in the next time."

Ed sighed, holstering his nightstick. "Lady, don't say things like that to me. I'm a cop!" Ed tapped his hip, and Zaire trotted over to heel. Noticing she still hadn't risen, Ed paused. "Are you all right? You didn't seem hurt earlier..."

"Well, I could let the next one get a few hits on me... or claim he came at me with a weapon. Then any bodily injury I cause would be completely just in 'self-defense' wouldn't it?" She slowly got herself up standing, rather glad that she wasn't trembling.
Glancing at the cop, she tried to decide what exactly she thought of him, then shrugged. "Honestly, I could use a couple of drinks. I've been under tough situations before, but I've never actually had my home broken into. Nor have I had Miu actually taken from me." She reached up and fastened the locket around her neck, touching it tenderly. A drink would be bloody fantastic.

Ed just sighed. "Please stop telling me about your plans to assault future thieves," Ed said with weary resignation. "And I probably shouldn't be encouraging you, but the nearest bar that doesn't replace furniture on a regular basis and hasn't been written up for health code violations recently is O'Malleys over on second and J," Ed told the woman, pointing in the proper direction.

Koorie glance at the cop and, after a couple of seconds, decided the guy wasn't all that bad. Pulling out her watch from her skirt's pocket, she checked the time before glancing at the man. "I'll break your arm if you take this the wrong way... but I wouldn't mind the company for a couple of shots." It was her own way of opening a polite invitation for him to partake in socializing with her.
Miu at this point has slowly started to make her way over to Zaire, noting that Koorie was far less upset from before. She was curious to this other pokemon.

Ed started to decline, then paused. "Ah heck. You know what? I'm not even on the clock. I was headed home after my shift to begin with. I don't feel like cooking, and O'Malleys serves food too. I know I'm going to regret this, but sure. Just...button up your shirt first?" Ed asked plaintively, looking everywhere but Koorie.
Zaire glanced at her human, then tentatively sniffed at Miu.

Koorie stared at him for a moment, then her eyes narrowed as she contemplated beating him over the head with his own nightstick for leading her to believe he was on duty earlier. The fact that he wouldn't look at her because of how much skin she was showing was a saving point and she decided that she'd keep her original offer of company.
"Hm, I didn't know you were the fashion police as well." She muttered, still complying and buttoning up a few of the upper buttons that had come undone during her fight to cover her bra a bit; the shirt was really something already revealing with a low neck, she wasn't going to be able to fix it much more.
As soon as the other pokemon looked at the other human, Miu froze up a little. However, when nothing happened other than a sniff, she relaxed and sniffed back at Zaire. She had never seen a pokemon like this before.

Ed just sighed. "O'Malley's is this way," he said, heading in the direction of the aforementioned bar.
Zaire wagged her tail at the Vulpix, and trotted after her human.

Koorie followed after the officer, watching him carefully. "Are they even going to let you drink while in uniform. More importantly, are they going to let you in there while carrying your nightstick." Granted, the way she was dressed at the moment, she might end up borrowing said nightstick... not like she wasn't deadly just by herself. On the plus side, she probably wouldn't have to pay for drinks.
Miu's ears perked up and she scampered after the others, quickly asserting herself between Ed and Koorie.

Ed nodded. "I usually forget to change after shift, and I've been to O'Malley's enough times they know that. And if I weren't in uniform, no, they wouldn't let my nightstick in. But if I weren't in uniform, I wouldn't be carrying it, so that's never been an issue."
Reaching the door, he held it open for Koorie. A prominently displayed sign read "NO POKEMON OVER 3ft AT THE SHOULDER ALLOWED OUT OF POKEBALL." In smaller print below, it said "Pokemon under 3ft at shoulder allowed only if non-destructive. $500 minimum fine for destructive pokemon. Pokemon must be returned to pokeball if requested by staff."
((Hey, do me a favor and let me RP the waitress/bartender the first time?))

Koorie raised an eyebrow at him at his desplay of chivalry. "Hm, thought that was dead." Not that she didn't take note of the gesture in appreciation. A soft growl from behind her caused her to stop at the doorway to look back at Miu.
"Not going to be your thing, hm? Alright." She pulled out the pokeball from earlier and the vulpix disappeared with a flash of red light. She knew the vulpix wasn't a fan of crowds, and considering the ordeal that just happened, Koorie wasn't about to push the little pokemon's emotions.
(Psh, you can keep RP them if you want!)

Ed just sidled up to a seat at the bar. The bartender took one look at Koorie and slid a plastic wrapped T-shirt with O'MALLEY'S printed in green letters on the front across the bar. Then he jerked a thumb to another sign. NO SHIRT NO SHOES NO SERVICE Below, in smaller print SHIRT - $5 SHOES - $3 "The handkerchief doesn't count, doll. Cuts into my girl's tips," he deadpanned.
((I just wanted to set up this!))

Koorie raised an eyebrow to the bartender. "Actually, I believe that, according the the Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus, this does qualify as a shirt. It is a upper body garment that happens to be missing a few buttons from a run in with a home robbery earlier this evening. However, I have no problem simply leaving if the only problem is based upon sex appeal."
The problem wasn't the fact that she was being told to put on their shirt, the problem was that this woman was infuriating and stubborn and that by accepting the 5 dollar charge she was taking a hit to her pride. And it would be a cold day in hell where she didn't let her pride take over.
((Aaaand, yes, she's going to be a problem. Stupid, stubborn woman....))

Ed sighed and held up a bill. "Burger and a beer. And the lady's shirt and first round." Then, to Koorie, "Just wear the shirt. The dress code is part of why they don't have to replace the furniture regularly. Tiny, Little Guy, and Runt are probably a good part of the rest of the reason."
