Ed tried not to sigh. Had none of the procedure classes stuck? "Katarina Police, move away from the injured pokemon!" Ed barked, simultaneously signaling Zaire towards the Rocket who was hanging back. Pulling Zelda's pokeball out, he released the Growlithe as well.

Zinnia gulped and automatically stepped away from the sleeping pokemon patients. The authority in Ed's voice, and more importantly in the officer's pokemon, made any thought of disobedience vanish from her mind. "Walpurgis..." she said, her voice rising an octave.
Only Zinnia heard the voice of her mew, as she spoke telepathically while still inside her masterball on Zinnia's belt. Had the mew known what was going on all this time? But the encouragement had come at exactly the right time.
"Walpurgis, I can't do this. I'm leaving Team Rocket," she said quietly; her voice shook. She lifted her hands up, palms facing forward, and walked slowly toward the police. It seemed to her that her legs had turned to lead, but somehow she was still able to take those slow steps.

Walpurgis sighed, lowering the knives. Called it. While he had the feeling the girl would cop out, he didn't expect it to be with the cops. He weighed his options. While he had confidence that between Satori, Gangrel, and himself, they could take the two cops, the addition of Zinnia complicated things. Nothing for it. He quickly drew the two pokeballs, returning Satori and Gangrel to a relative safety. Mostly it was to protect their identity. He turned his masked face to Zinnia.
"I had a feeling you wouldn't go through with it. Team Rocket will want what they feel to be theirs, but until they order me to retrieve it, or you give me reason to come after you, I shall leave you alone. Speak one word of our secrets, betray my mercy in any way, and I will rectify my mistake. Of that, I promise."
He turned to the cops, drawing his long knives again. "As for you two - while I'd certainly love to battle the hypocritical law enforcement, I'm afraid that I'll have to pass this time. The mission was simple practice, so all the pokemon are unharmed. That said, I have a few things I'll need to report, so I'll be going now. Zinnia, be well. Get stronger, and protect what you want to protect. Just as we do..."
As he spoke the last word, he sent out Satori with blinding speed. The liepard slammed a hole into the wall before being returned a split second later, and the now solo rocket darted into the thicket on the other side.
