Takoda wasn't angry or upset, it had been seasons since his parents death, mostly he tried to avoid thinking about it and so he just shrugged off her apology. No harm done. It wasn't her fault. Neither of his parents were very notable in the tribe, so it wasn't like they were big important figure heads that had passed on. All elders had special memorials, otherwise only family and friends mourned the passing of each other.
"It's okay, it's been many seasons since their passing, and you couldn't of known." He gently assured her that he was fine, well not really but he wasn't going to mope and go on and on about that.
"You are very generous but I can't impose...I have plenty for myself I forage everyday." Takoda explained as he gave her a bigger smile, he noticed a line was tugging and he pointed to it.
"You've got another one there. How long do you fish for? Do you find that the weather effects your fishing?" The string of questions were mostly to push past that awkward moment, to show that he was going to be him. Quite fine.

“Don’t worry about imposing, my siblings bring home friends all the time. More than one too, so you’d be fine.” Her younger siblings were worse than the older ones whom only brought family of their spouses, the younger ones liked to bring home all their new friends. It also worked the other way around, sending the younger ones to friends’ homes or going to distant families home. It was good though that he had taught himself to forage or they would have lost another Shifter in the tribe. Takoda seemed nice enough, Alassiel enjoyed his presence, then again she usually didn’t hang out with many others.
The line that tugged caught Alassiel’s attention from the corner of her eye, and she turned just as Takoda was pointing it out to her. “I usually fish until I know that everyone will be able to eat in the family, we usually separate a fish for two people, and for children it’s three a fish since they can’t eat everything.” There was no wasting in the family, and god forbid the children threw a fit about what they were eating that night. “The weather?” Alassiel contemplated the question for a bit. “Yes, sometimes. In small lakes and such it’s not so bad when it’s raining, though out in the sea is a different story!”
“What about you? Do you go out foraging when the weather is bad? It’s usually a lot more dangerous no?” Alassiel herself had never gone out in the bad weather for some fishing without someone else to watch her back; you never knew what could just come out of the forest and jump you in the gloom.

Takoda thought that she must fish for long hours at end, what if she didn't catch anything? Would she keep fishing until it got very dark? It made him worry thinking about her fishing until it was dark, what if creatures came out and tried to attack her? Worrying over her saftey he didn't get a chance to point out his thoughts before pulling the fish in.
Chewing on his lower lip he shifted and then thought on it. Normally he had enough stored at home that if the weather was bad he could manage...but fresh was always better.
"Well...some times I have to pick up things that are close to home...traveling in the tree's though is dangerous so I tend to take to the floor...most creature's try and stay out of the heavy rains." Takoda mentioned thinking, "But its harder to ..tell one plant from another when its really bad. So...I just try and wait it out."

Nodding Alassiel continued to watch the fish to make sure it didn’t get away. “I understand about not wanting to go out too far from the village.” They didn’t let the younger kids go out when it was storming, not like they would want to go outside in such horrible weather anyways, but still. “Most.” She admitted quietly, the more dangerous ones liked to come out and see if they could catch a creature that had gotten lost in the bad weather, or maybe even was without protection, anything for an easy meal. “You must store quite a bit of food at your home then?” If it rained for days on in, he had to be prepared to stay inside. Even if the rain did stop once in awhile, beasts were hungrier from staying hidden and dry from the rain. Alassiel was sure that was when it was most dangerous to go out, because some beasts were going desperate.

Takoda thought on her questions, after all it was a good point. What did he do when the weather was bad for more than days? He could only recall once running out of food because of this exact reason. The fresh food always went first, the fruit spoiled too quickly otherwise.
"Well....its...happened..but I have a lot of dried fruits and meats hidden away, that way if I run out of fresh food I can always eat those. And water isn't really a problem since if its raining I can always get it from outside." He explained wondering what a large family like Alassiel's would do if there was a food shortage due to a storm. There was always so much food in the forest a shortage seemed...almost laughable.
"How about your family? Feeding so many must be challenging.."

Alassiel nodded grimly, it wasn’t that she hated the large number of family members she had, and on the contrary she loved all of them equally even her half siblings. Though, they had lost many of the old folk to not having enough reserves, children were always fed first after all. If it got really bad, usually the parents went out on a short hunt while the woman tried to borrow as many scrapes of food from other families as they could afford. Running out of food had not happened for a while though, not since her grandmother had died when Alassiel was little.
“Yes it’s hard. We try to store as much as possible, usually for a week if we get stuck of very strict rations. Otherwise, we try to borrow some or worst case scenario, some of the men have to go out hunting for food.” Luckily for them, now that they were having less and less younger children meant they too could go out to forage under supervision. Alassiel was allowed by herself now that she was old enough, though not too far so she didn’t get lost or run into some terrible danger. “We can always try to borrow from other people at times too, or trade for something they might need.”

Trading was Takoda's life skill, since he knew so many different plants and the values of them, for eating or for medicinal purpose's he had managed to make a decent living off of trades. Sometimes people would take advantage of his timid nature and he would get a poor deal, but most times people appreciated that he wasn't greedy and often just traded for the bare minimum of its worth.
"It must definitely be a lot harder with a big family.." He replied with a nod of his head in wonder, he then noted another fishing line that was being pulled and pointed at it. "You got another one." The shifter managed as he then noticed some more of the water root plants and quietly went off to gather it.
After all he didn't want to scare the fish away, not when Alassiel would need so many to feed her family.
"Ever try gathering eggs? If you hit at the right time of year you could get quite a few."
