It didn’t matter if he was used to it or not. Ithil still felt bad. She froze when he pulled back and was worried when he relaxed. That wasn’t what bothered her the most. He offered to take her to the forest which was nice, but the way he said it annoyed her. He made it sound like she was some weak little girl that needed to be protected. She was scared, who wouldn’t be but she certainly wasn’t week. Pulling back from him she glared at him even though she was shivering scared and wet. “I’m fine thank you very much.” She replied through clenched teeth. Laying down she resolved that she would definitely sit this storm out and show him. She sniffled and forced herself not jump when she heard the next boom of thunder. She still jerked and pressed her paws further into the mud but she didn’t lean toward the male. She felt bad for wanting to growl at him but what could she say. She completely agreed he was an idiot. Still he had made a nice offer. Arguing with herself she decided to say something to explain herself. “Look, it’s not that I don’t appreciate the offer, but the storm is here. We’d likely get hurt on the way to the forest compared to if we stayed here. Besides I’m fine even if I’m scared.” She saw more lightning and closed her eyes waiting for impending clap of thunder to come.

Lightning's ears flicked back at her initial refusal, kicking himself for saying the wrong thing--again. He curled up and tried to make himself as small as possible, seeing that his temporary companion was avoiding contact with him. To her explanation, he gave a muttered, "Whatever," as a reply. He rested his head on his paws and closed his eyes, thunder booming before letting the soft pitter-patter of rain take its place. This seemed familiar. 'Ah, that's it,' he thought, his body slowly relaxing. 'This is the part where I...' Even his thought didn't finish; despite the storm--or perhaps because of it--the Gladier nodded off. He jerked awake a few minutes later, however, when he bumped into the girl. Or had she bumped into him? He wasn't really sure in his groggy, half-awake state. "Hrn?" He shook his head and lifted it to inspect the storm with sleepy blue eyes before turning his attention to the other Gladier.

Infuriating. That’s what this male was. He was six different shades of infuriating. First he seems to think her some scared pathetic little gladier who actually needs to be lead to the forest and then he curls away from her like she’s plagued? Glaring at him for a few moments she contemplated shoving up a huge pile of mud and smearing it in his fur. He said he was used to it so why not? No, her mind argued. He was a nice enough male. He just didn’t her well and didn’t understand that this was how she was. She fidgeted bumping into him accidentally. She froze for a split second before jerking head to look at the storm she was careful not to take her eyes of the splattering rain. The lightning seemed to have subsided for a few moments which on one level Ith was thankful for. Feeling like the eyes of the other male where on her she was tempted to look and fought the urge back keep her eyes fixed on one spot outside of the shelter. It was a small white flower that was open and had a steady drip off its petals.

PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:27 am

And there she went again. Her gaze was fixed on the storm before fixing her gaze outside the shelter--and pointedly away from him. 'What's the point of this...?' He didn't need shelter and this Gladier clearly didn't like him. Why was he still there? 'Because she made this for you, idiot,' his mind replied flatly. 'And you're too nice to leave.' Lightning got to his feet, his gaze fixing on that small white flower that the other Gladier was looking at. It was simple, pure, beautiful. It was the complete opposite of him. He was dirty, complicated, misunderstood. The storm above them was a better comparison. Maybe that was why he liked them so much.

Either way, he wasn't sticking around to get this female even more irritated at him. He carefully climbed out of the shelter; he could've just jumped, but that would've sprayed his temporary companion with mud. He wasn't that much of a jerk. It made him more muddy, but he didn't mind much. It wasn't like he had anyone to impress with his looks or anything. Not wanting to wait around and see the female Gladier's reaction, he shot off towards the tree and scurried up it like a squirrel. After a few trial-and-errors, he settled himself on a thick branch that could both hold his weight and give him a good view of the storm. Lightning let out a relieved sigh as the wind ruffled his fur; this was a better situation. No one would judge him up here--well, at least he wouldn't be around to know about it.

Ith twitched when he moved. What has she done wrong this time. She knew she bumped him but certainly he wasn’t mad at her for just that was he? Well if he was then he was a fool. Gritting her teeth she watched him go and resisted the urge to yell at him. There he was slinking out of the shelter that she made not even wanting to be around her. Well fine then. I hope he gets struck by lightning! Instantly she regretted the rash thought. She knew it wasn’t fair to wish that one someone just because they didn’t get along with her. After all if she wished it on all the gladiers who annoyed her she was certain half their race would be dead already. Besides now she would feel bad if it really did happen to him. She couldn’t see which way he went after he left the shelter and headed in the direction of the tree. Ugh. She knew she should have made the entrance bigger. Still staring at the flower she kept telling herself that going out was dangerous. That the stupid male deserved what he got. How could she find him even if she looked she didn’t even know his name! Still worry that the idiot might actually get hurt made her stomach turn. He was a moron but he really wasn’t as bad as some. Annoyed with herself, the male and the whole storm Ith started to crawl out of the shelter. She turned and saw the base of the tree. Well he wasn’t cowering under it like she expected. To scared to get all the way on her paws Ith stayed on her belly and kept crawling while she got rained on moving forward. Soon she was next to the while flower she had been staring at before. She looked around again and wondered where that stupid, infuriating, reckless male went.

Lightning was sat up on his branch when he'd finished sulking about other Gladiers that didn't like him, smiling as the rain washed the mud from his fur. He closed his eyes and pointed his muzzle towards the sky, inhaling the scents of the tree and the storm around him. He laughed as the wind tugged at his fur and tried to knock him off balance, as if it were a playful kit. He opened his eyes to view the storm, the lightning blue orbs sparkling as he grinned from ear to ear. Lightning loved this kind of weather--in the way the Gladier in the shelter loved taking naps in the sun and other Gladiers enjoyed swimming and sparring out in the grass, he assumed. "Woohoo!" he shouted as the wind picked up and thunder clapped nearby, as if trying to prove he could be just as loud. He laughed again, oblivious to the female below.

The wind howled in her ears and she felt the mud running off her legs. All in all she really hated this. Hearing a strange noise she looked up in the tree and to her horror the idiot was up there laughing. Was he psychotic? Oh my gosh he is going to fall and die. All because he couldn’t stomach being in a make s**t shelter with her? Moving forward toward the tree she wanted to yell at the male. She wanted to throttle him and tell him how dangerous it was to be up there. Glaring she watched him as she approached and watched the joy on his face. He really was nuts. Stopping at the base of the tree she felt her anger melt away into simple disbelief. He was laughing and having fun in the middle of a storm! She liked overcast days and light rains, but this was a mess of weather. How could it be fun? She just didn’t get it. “HEY STUPID!”

Lightning was taking a deep breath to shout into the raging storm again when a voice from below stopped him. His eyes went to the ground below, his happy expression draining off of his face. What did she want? She didn't like storms and she didn't like him. Well, there weren't many ways to find out. "WHAT?" he shouted back over the howling wind, trying not to scowl at the Gladier below. He had debated on snapping at her for calling him stupid, but he couldn't really blame her; she didn't know his name, and to her, he was extremely stupid.

“THAT’S DANGERO!” A leaf blew into her mouth making her cough and choke. After gagging and spitting the leaf out she shook her head and tried again. “THAT’S DANGEROUS!” Did he have to have that frown on his face? Really she why did she bother with him. He was clearly deranged and an idiot. She didn’t see him move from his spot so she started to climb up the tree. He might hate her but that was no reason to be reckless just to get away. Maybe if she went up the tree he would get of it and get back to the safety of the shelter. So what if he liked storms this was just stupid.

Of course it was dangerous. Dangerous to normal Gladiers. But to Lightning this was normal behavior--another reason others thought him strange. Sighing, he made his way to the lower branches. "It's only dangerous if you aren't paying attention," he said when he was close enough to speak in a slightly louder-than-average voice. "I can handle it. I've been doing this since I was a kit." He glanced away. He wasn't good at talking with people, especially female Gladiers.

Especially female Gladiers that hated his guts.

"And my name's Lightning Pawn, Miss," he informed her while fixing his gaze on the storm again. "Not Stupid."

Feeling her paw slide on the rough bark Ith bit back her next comment which would have been rude. “un huh. ” Lightning Pawn? What kind of name was Lightning pawn? And he climbed trees in the middle of a storm since he was kit? What if he slipped and fell and broke his neck? He might say his name wasn’t stupid but she was gonna call him that anyway since he really stupid, and insane. She couldn’t forget that part. Still she couldn’t just leave him up there for the inevitable. She guessed that made her equally stupid. “ Well neither is my name, but I needed something call you and you are stupid! Besides my name isn’t Miss. It’s Ithil-Alu. Ith or Ithil to my friends.” Which you don’t have a right to call me stupid.

PostPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:09 pm

'At least my substitute name was polite, he thought sourly. Her comment made him frown. "So I've heard," he said dryly. "Quite a number of times actually, so I guess it just must be absolutely true." He took a deep breath and sighed, forcing his irritation to the side as he fixed his lightning blue gaze on Ithil's purple one. "I may be an idiot to you, Miss Ithil-Alu," he informed her, "but I'm smart enough to know when someone doesn't like me." And she didn't. He'd gotten used to seeing those expressions in people's faces; there was a wide range of them, but they all spelled out the same message to Lightning: they didn't want him around. He glanced away again. "Look, can we just skip to the part where we end this? Because you have your life to preserve and I have mine to recklessly endanger."

Was that sarcasm? Ith narrowed her eyes at the male. “Oh really? Well how could I like you? I don’t even know you! All I see is an idiot who climbs a tree in a storm and doesn’t even have anyone to hold him steady if the wind tips him too far!” Had she said she didn’t like him? No she didn’t think she had. She had even been nice enough to make a shelter for them both to hold out in until the storm passed. It was his fault for not liking her touch him. It was his fault for leaving. And yours for not speaking your mind. Ugh would her mind just stop with the guilt trip already? It really wasn’t fair. “I’m not going anywhere until I know you survive the storm you stupid idiot! You really are a fool if you think otherwise.”

PostPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 9:10 pm

"Did you even bother trying to get to know me?" He pulled his head back a bit at the second half of her first comment, frowning and looking away. "Someone to 'hold me steady,' huh?" Lightning let out a bitter bark of a laugh. "That would require friends, wouldn't it? Or, you know, someone who's willing to come within ten feet of me. And I am perfectly capable of taking care of..." He set his back paws against the trunk, his front paws bent as they kept him balanced on the branch. "...myself!" He rocketed out of the tree, soaring through the open air before descending toward the ground. He turned so that he hit the ground with his shoulder, rolling across the muddy terrain and using that same motion to get back to his feet. His lightning blue eyes instantly shifted to locate Ithil-Alu. "Happy now?" he called. "I'm perfectly fine!" Not that she really cared. He pointedly turned away from the tree, turning his muzzle skyward and watching the storm again--and awaiting the next batch of obnoxious comments from this infuriating female about how he was a complete idiot.

Still climbing the base of the tree Ith hasn’t been making much progress and was getting more annoyed at Lighting. “How could I get to know you. You just run away. I know you don't like me but it's a bit excessive.” Why did he laugh like that. It was .. sad. She saw him launch himself off the tree and gasped forgetting to hold tight to the tree she slid down the trunk in shock not even paying attention. With her mouth hanging open she felt a shiver of fear when the male stared at her. Behind his blue eyes shown a spark of lighting of their own threatening to harm her if she got to close. She started to breathe again when he looked away. Why had he… of all the stupid.. He could have.. Her mind was tormenting her and she felt a bit dizzy. Somehow she had let go of the tree trunk and walked over toward the male even though she didn’t remember doing so. “That was the most irresponsible, idiotic, incredible, and infuriating thing I have ever seen!” Was she crying? No that couldn’t be right. It must be the rain even if it did feel like tears. She could just see in her mind’s eye the reckless male’s jump and only rather than what did happen she saw him botch the landing and end up cracking his skull and bones on the ground. The mental image overwhelmed her senses even though she had seen the real jump. Ithil promptly fainted.
