Firefly had never played croquet. He didn't play sports and as respectable and slow paced this one was, he wasn't really all that interested. That ghost boy seemed very intense too and it was making him nervous.
He slowly approached the mallets and picked up a tiny little one, then glanced at the balls. Oooh...what a gorgeous one! Tiny and glass and full of stars. He would use that one for sure! It was pretty, like him.
He put it on the grass, looked down the gates, then tapped the ball with all his might. Weak in the arms, the ball seemed to appreciate the delicate stroke and rolled easily. Not as far as the others' but there wasn't a crack or scratch on it. He put the mallet down and went back to holding his tail. He hadn't won but he'd done his best.

Well, s**t son. Isaac wanted to play. Badly. Glancing at Briar, he suddenly grinned, winking.
"Watch me burn this play." He turned, having spotted that special fire ball awhile ago. Scooping it up, carefully setting his hands where he knew the flames weren't, he strutted over to his spot, set it down, and threw his hands into the air.
""Let's make it burn, baby!" .... Why was a water type so in love with fire? With a rather questionable laugh following, he hit the ball, sending it.... not far. However, it did the damage he wanted, setting ablaze a trail of fire that began to spread. He giggled happily, hopping beside Briar only when the fire was put out. Still, the grass was considerably damaged due to his shenanigans. It wasn't his fault they set out a fire ball and expected not a single infant to go crazy.
"Aight Briar! You got this!"

His attention wasn't really at the game at all for his mind wander about the beautiful gardens. Oh he loved everything in here so much and would love to walk around and see what sort of plants that the Queen is growing. But sadly he couldn't as he looked back at the game seeing the other infants playing croquet. He watched as Isaac went up to play and caught that grin of his as well as the wink. It made him blush a bit but waved, hoping that he does well . . . . . but instead he set the garden on fire. "Isaac!" He called out as his bright green orbs widen at the sight and the boy laughing. All he did was sigh because Briar can't control such an energetic boy.
As the young Eevee returned to his side, Briar gave a nervous smile and a nod. "Okay." That's all he said before going up to get his mallet and the ball. What he had found was a really gorgeous ball. It was transparent and sparkles like the night sky which made him happy as he put it down on the grass and ready to hit it. But the moment he hit it, the ball shattered! "Oh no!" He yelled out loud seeing the pieces flying all over. The blond instantly dropping the mallet and went to pick up all the pieces that he can find along with the Queen's servants. "I'm so sorry! I thought I was being gentle . . ." He said as he gave all the pieces he collected to them to be disposed and slowly walked back to Isaac's side, ears drooping down sadly as he felt incredibly sad for breaking something of the Queens'.

Malo could not stand idly by as Issac torched the queen's lawn, leaving an ugly trail of fire all over. And worse, he was LAUGHING about it! No-one laughed at the damage of the queen's property.
His own fire blazing bright, the Litwick snarled and dropped the mallet, shooting for Issac and grabbing the front of his shirt, floating so he was higher than the other. "Stop laughing! That's not funny! You're going to ruin my lady's garden if you keep playing so poorly! You-you don't deserve to play if you ain't gunna hit it properly!" Small wisps of fire slipped from his mouth as he spoke, his face so close to Issac's that their eyelashes touched. He wasn't scared of a water type.

Kennard had a bruise on his cheek. It had happened, he was sure, during his brief scuffle with Bigsby; a scuffle that the other toddler had ultimately won. The Teddisursa didn’t mind in the slightest. He had simply stood up, brushed dust off his clothes and retrieved his axe. His smile had never faltered. It had been an interesting experience and his new friend seemed to enjoy such games. Kennard was always happy to indulge a friend.
Now the little bear leant on his axe and watched the others take their turns playing the funny ball game. His stomach rumbled. The walk through the gardens had been nice, but he lived here, and he mostly just wanted something to eat now. Kennard rubbed his cheek. If he did this quickly, maybe he could run to the kitchens for some cake.
And play quickly he did! Toy axe on one shoulder and croquet mallet held loosely in the other hand, Kennard sped through the course, barely looking as if he was trying. The little black ball shot unerringly across the grass.

"Malo." Zale wasn't sure why Malo was so angry, however he choose not to get involved, which was probably best. While he knew Isaac, and their guardians certainly knew each other, (very well, may I add) he wasn't going to defend Isaac.
"Wha? Whoa! Never thought I'd see an albino in the sun! Whatcha gettin' all pissy bout?" Isaac was laughing as he was grabbed, those his eyes slowly became narrow, a cocky grin on his mouth. When Malo grew close he winked, leaned in, and licked Malo's cheek.
"Damn boy. You taste like trash. I guess I gotta...." Quickly, he slammed his hand down, releasing Malo's grip. His hand grabbed Malo now, flipped, and tossed him roughly away. Isaac was a strong little brat. "....Throw out the trash!"
Zale's eyes widened, and in a flash he was at Isaac. His hand swiped out, eyes blank as his hand curled around Isaac's wrist, flipping it until Isaac grunted in pain. His eyes stayed blank, nails digging into Isaac's flesh. "No." Was all he said. Isaac didn't toss him, he knew better. Henrik would flip if he threw his beloved Sully's child. So instead he patted Zale on the head.
"Good doggy." He smiled sweetly. He would argue that he threw Malo as self defense, however he doubted Zale would listen.

Malo did not grimace at the lick, at least as not as much as Issac would have liked...but when he was thrown and flipped a number of things happened. There was a lot of polite clapping as Kennard won. As he caught himself in the air, that was the first thing he noticed and it broke his heart in two. That...that wasn't fair. Kennard had practice swinging with his axe!
Malo felt tears come to his eyes as he and Logan's ball were bypassed. He sniffled, then shook his head and that eery smile came back to his lips. He refused to cry infront of the red queen. He..he'd be a good sport. He clapped too, but he was ever so disappointed. Maybe the teddiursa would give her a message from him.
The other thing that happened that he was just now noticing was that Zale had come to his rescue and he had a very sharp grip on the other. He narrowed his eyes and drifted down. "Its alright, Zale. He's not worth it." He took Zale's free hand and gently tugged so he could be comforted with him alone.

Zale blinked suddenly when Malo came over, allowing Malo to touch his free hand, the one holding Isaac releasing the Eevee and following Malo quietly. The boy was strange... he could tell. Looking up, he tugged slightly on the hand Malo held.
"Malo. Are you sad?"
Isaac watched Zale be ushered away, rubbing his hand. He had never seen Zale so.... strong before. The boy was quiet and meek, yet he had snapped the second Malo was harmed. A smirk rose to his lips. Perhaps the Treecko was capable of fighting. Shrugging it off, he returned to Briar's side.

Malo's yellow eyes glanced forlornly at the scene before him and he had to look back at Zale. "No.." his smile seemed a bit forced. "Its...its nothing." He sniffled, looking up and widening his eyes. "I'm fine." He took a moment to breathe. "Just...a bit dissapointed. I really wanted to win today." He shuffled a foot, not minding being on the ground for now. He had been so CLOSE!
He took Zale's hands and made sure his finger's were locked, his pulse cold, then hot, then cold. He'd have attacked Issac again if his little wish hadn't been overpassed. Oh well. At least Kennard was nice.

The first day of the tour had been incredibly idiotic. As if he would catch his own food when he was supposed to be a guest in the Clubs. Thus with a lift of his chin and a flick of his tail he'd watched the rest of the children chase down their particular food items. Really the only one that seemed decent at it was that idiot Ponyta that had tried to chat his ear off when they were walking. Honestly Jace thought he needed to beat people up more often so they didn't constantly think he was friendly. What. The. Hell.
However they had moved on quickly enough to the faction of Hearts. Their tour guide, however, didn't seem any better than the last one that had showed them around. No, instead, this one seemed to be too starry eyed to really do a good job of showing them around. It was no matter to Jace, however, as he took in everything anyways, analyzing and storing away the way everything looked and where landmarks were in comparison to others.
Finally they were escorted to their rooms, which Jace retired too none too quickly in his opinion. With a huff he prepared for sleep, doing stretches and a few exercises to keep himself in shape. Finally he curled up on the bed, eying the room with a bit of distrust before falling into a light slumber; he typically slept light just in case evil assassins wanted to murder him in his sleep.
Unfortunately no such thing happened, causing him to sigh and shake his head as he got ready for the morning. Apparently it was tea and croquet which made him cross his eyes in annoyance, but his guardian back in Spades had said it would be good for him. Despite the fact that it would be horribly painful, perhaps he would get something out of this that he'd appreciate later.
He followed the other infants on the tour, his eyes clinical more than interested, logging necessary information away for later; who knew when he'd need to sneak into Hearts for one reason or another. He eyed the roses that seemed to be everywhere with a bit of distrust, folding his hands behind his back. He was a tad paranoid, perhaps, but he didn't like the thought of prickly roses that could contain or be covered in literally anything.
Finally it was time for croquet and the first thing he did was weigh the mallet in his hands. He practiced a few swings when the other children went, focusing intently on the feel of it in his hands. Finally when it was his turn he reached out and picked his ball, rotating it in his hand, smirking a little; he had a good feeling about this swing. His eyes roamed the children gathered, locking on Logan and winking at him, not hiding his arrogance at all.
Finally he took the swing, one eye flinching a little when he felt it land a little harder than he'd intended. Eyes narrowing he watched the ball roll through the gates, going, going... And it landed perfectly, flawlessly, causing a wolfish grin to stretch his lips. He hefted his mallet onto his shoulder and sought out Logan again, letting him see how pleased he was with himself. He then strode towards the other boy, making sure to stick his tongue out and laugh at Malo as he passed.
"So." Jace began, brushing invisible dust off his shoulder. "Was that awesome or was it awesome? Just say it: I'm awesome."

Watching Malo, he frowned slightly, nodding. "It's okay. There will be other times. I know it." Looking at Malo, still, he blinked as their fingers locked. He didn't mind. An idea came to him, chewing on his bottom lip gently as he thought. Whenever he was sad Sully would hug him, it made all the worries go away. He wasn't sure why a pair of arms curled around him relieved him, but perhaps the magic would work for Malo. Unless, the magic only worked when an adult did it. Biting back his worry, he tugged on Malo's hand.
"I'll give you some magic to make it better." He whispered nervously before hugging Malo, tightly. When he was done he kept holding Malo's hand, smiling as he drew out a puppet that Malo gave him, the frog, and had it nudge Malo's cheek.
He wasn't good at comforting, but he tried.

Ryder was in awe when it came to the royal palace and even more in awe of their private rooms. All the entertainment he'd had that day had been trying to wheedle conversation out of a rather anti-social mightyena boy, but when that had failed he'd sulked and was glad when the tour had ended. Finally he could lay down and rest which was good because he'd used up all his energy.
The next morning had been fairly uneventful but the extra tour had been nice, as had morning tea. However when they'd mentioned croquet he'd laughed nervously and swallowed thickly, eyes slightly wide. While he wasn't really scared per se, he was definitely terrible things that didn't involve speed and agility. He watched the Mightyena score effortlessly, jaw dropping a little before he swallowed and walked up to pick his ball, mallet dragging behind him as he went.
There didn't seem to really be anything all that special about his ball thus, heaving a sigh, he placed it on the ground and positioned himself, fingers flexing nervously. Finally he swung, wincing when the blow glanced a little. Due to this the ball went a little off course... Ending up the furthest away of all the others. Visibly drooping, bottom lip jutting just slightly, Ryder lifted a hand and rubbed at his eyes, turning to head back into the group; it was bad enough that nobody wanted to talk to him, but nobody wanted to talk to a loser.

Malo nodded sadly as he was comforted by Zale. He didn't know the little guy was such a charmer and he was feeling so much better. "Y-yeah. There will be other times. And I do live here...s-so I get to see her a lot." He did really want to talk to her today, though.
As Zale hugged him, he blushed bright scarlet and shivered. That was so nice...he'd never been hugged, except by Preston. He usually did the hugging. Slowly, he looped his arms back around Zale, then stared as Jace did even better than Kennard.
His vision went white and he made a noise similar to a t-rex, all of his anger and hatred exploding out at once. He had not minded Kennard winning but that....pesty, annoying, violent little squid from Spades did not deserve to LOOK at the Queen, let alone talk to her. "YOU'VE GOT TO ME KIDDING ME!" He roared rather loudly, his flame burning like a flamethrower, his hands clenched into tight fists, his jaw grinding.
He HATED Jace. And this was just another thing to add to the list of why he hated him. He had to be a good sport though. Jace had done nothing wrong, except cheat. But only he knew that.
As soon as the other boy's tongue slipped out, Malo had the urge to bite it clean off. Be a good sport, good sport. "Wretch." He hissed. He bit his lip until blood sputtered from it and grabbed Zale's hand, forcefully pulling him off to another spot away from the game. He did not want to see the damn wolf boy or hear what he had to say to the queen. Let him make an idiot of himself.
Besides, Malo knew Jace would not deliver a message for him. There was no point in staying. He dragged his friend over the hill and slumped down, out of sight, burying his face in his legs.

Briar gasped as Malo floated up to Isaac and grabbed him by the shirt, literally spatting fire from his lips. "Please stop! There's no reason for-" And Isaac had made it worse seeing him actually . . . licking his cheek just before he tossed the boy. He couldn't believe how strong he was which made him speechless.
All of a sudden, he saw a flash of green and then Isaac grunted in pain as his wrist was flipped. Much to his surprise it was Zale who he saw as a nervous little boy. He looked . . . so much different now. The stare of his blank, empty eyes, and the firm no that was said. He . . . he really wanted to stop him but he was afraid to say anything in fear that if the blond said a wrong word it might turn bad. But that wasn't the case as Malo got up and reached out to grab his hand and tugged it to make him stop. Briar lifted a hand up to merely place on Isaac's back as he speaks. "I'm so sorry about what happen to the garden. I'll see to it later when the game is finish so it can be properly grown back." He went ahead and took the responsibility of what happen, verdant eyes grown round and full of worried. Growing grass was no problem for him since it's rather simple to do.
He looked back at Isaac once the two have walked away and frowned. "Is your wrist okay?" Briar asked as he gently grabbed it to see the damage that was caused. It looked swollen and the nails had cut him a little bit which made him worried for infection. "You need some ice and medicine or else it might be bad . . ." His gaze looked up to see the Eevee and all of a sudden he pouted with ears flat down against his head and with his other hand gave a small shove right at his chest. "You shouldn't agitate him like that! Who knows what could have happen here and for that you should apologize to him."
It was a shock for a quiet and sweet boy to speak up like that but he went back to his quiet self the moment he heard that monstrous cry of Malo which made him yelp and instantly clinging to Isaac in a hug. "O-or later sounds n-nice . . ."

Twitching when Malo roared, Zale became very tiny, or as much as possible. It wasn't that he was scared of Malo in general, he was more scared of the fire on his head. Being a grass-type, he had a natural worry of fire getting him. Sure, he knew Malo would never on purpose, but the boy was beyond himself in rage. He doubted his ghost friend was paying attention to his flame.
Suddenly, his hand was seized and he was dragged away. That was fine, for when Malo settled down and hid his face he simply moved closer, rested his head on the others shoulder, and decided to comfort his friend in silence. He did slip a piece of candy Sully had handed him earlier into Malo's hand, worriedly peering at his face before resting back on the others shoulder.
Isaac cracked his knuckles just as his back was touched by Briar. Raising an eyebrow, he grinned at the other, head tilting when the question was asked. His wrist was seized and the boy blinked. "Huh? Oh, yeah, it's nuffin. I got worse cat scratches." Though he winced slightly, despite his words. He was a bad liar, yes. As he was shoved slightly he grinned, hands on his hips as he leaned forward.
"Awh, no worries. The albino wasn't too bad, it's fine. That little spunky Zale was more of a problem than him. Say, don't tell me... ya were worried?" Isaac seized Briar into a tight hug right then and there, ruffling the boys hair slightly. "I'm a strong guy, no worries! Anyways, I gotta be tough to protect ya, right?"
Suddenly, the other was clinging to him. He blinked at Malo's cry, laughing lowly and patting Briar's back.
"Don't worry bout him. I'm sure Zale has it under control. Besides, I protect my friends."
